Great tutorial. I have a Skyline 9 but due to health reasons haven't been able to go to classes, so now I am actively seeking out online instruction so that I can use my machine to the fullest and not just for straight line stitching and the occassional decorative and embroidery design. One problem that I have, and I have been sewing on Janome machines for ~35 years is using that automatic threader. I just couldn't understand the thread path in the needle area so I have to thread manually and that is a huge pain to do with bifocals! Thank you for showing the details. Next time I have to rethread, I will try to follow what you did. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching! RUclips is such a great resource when you are in a position where you can't attend a class. One tip I failed to mention in this video is, in addition to locking your machine, always make sure you needle down and then needle back up before you lock the machine. This makes sure the eye of the needle is in the right spot for the needle threader. Needle down then back up, lock the machine, and make sure you hit all the thread guides, and your needle threader should work every time! Happy Embroidering!!
Beautiful project. I use a similar procedure to do my end to end quilting. I used the grid at first, but wasn't getting great results, so I broke down and bought the IPAD (I am not an Apple fan). I also experienced 2 "flop overs", what a mess!! I fixed that by using quilt clips, the small round ones, not the big oval type blue ones (too big for the kinda small throat on the S9), and using the magnetic clips that come with the machine. Twisting the screw all the time was hurting my hands. I would also suggest using the 1 stitch stop feature...this stitches once and stops, so you can bring the bobbin thread to the top for a cleaner, no-tail look.
Thank you! You did a great job quilting your runner. Very informative though I have the Brother NQ1700e. Off to try and quilt on my machine. 😊 Merry Christmas! 🎅 🎄 🤶
Thank you for this example. I have an MC9850SE so would have to trace the design with the dry erase marker. I was wondering how to do that for a quilting pattern.
Very nice job, loved your video and you have a pleasant voice. I am new to Janome embroidery and the iPad apps. Not new to embroidery on other machines. I would like to see videos using the AcuSetter and any other iPad apps that help line up an embroidery design that was half stitched, and then an error happened, unhooked and trying to line everything up again. I know how to take a photo and line up the little ovals, but then how do I find that right stitch on the machine to continue the embroidery? I know I can press plus and minus stitches, or type in stitch number, but on a 25,000 stitch design I have little idea of the stitch number. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching! Unfortunately, when this happens to me, if I didn't take note of the stitch number when the "oops" happened (and about half the time, I don't.) Then it is just kind of a "trial and error" method. I will type in number somewhere in the middle, and when the needle goes to that point I can see how close I am, is that number before or after my last sewn stitch? From there I can kind "hone in" on a ballpark stitch number, and then use the + and - keys to fine tune until I am as close as I can get. I with I had a more sophisticated "fix" for you. But thank you so much for the feedback and I will keep this in mind for future videos! Happy Embroidering!
Thanks for watching! I believe on this project I mostly was using Isacord embroidery thread in both the top and the bottom, I also may have been using the Janome bobbin thread for the bobbin in some instances. I, for the most part, do use the Isacord embroidery thread in the Janome machines.
so beautiful and creative, can you point me to a software program that does those sorts of stiches, I am hopeless at freehand quilting. Be so grateful if you could please
Thanks for watching! This quilting pattern is from Designs by Juju, and you can purchase it here www.designsbyjuju.com/chrismtas-holly-swirls-end-to-end-quilting-embroidery-design . I am in no way affiliated with Designs by Juju, but they are an excellent source for embroidery patterns, especially in the hoop end to end quilting patterns. You can also use Janome's Artistic Digitizer and AcuFil software's to create your own designs. Find more information here! www.janome.com/products/software/artistic-digitizer/
Sorry for the late reply! The quilting pattern is from designs by Juju www.designsbyjuju.com/chrismtas-holly-swirls-end-to-end-quilting-embroidery-design The pattern is a Villa Rosa design that we repeated two blocks to make longer www.luluandhazel.com/shop/c/p/Sugarplum-x65582107.htm And I believe the fabric was from Riley Blake and was called Old Fashion Christmas! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I'm sorry, I am not familiar with the Viking embroidery machines, but if your machine happens to have a USB port in addition to a floppy disk drive, you should be able to load designs on it. Good luck!
Thanks for watching! On this particular project, because I was quilting, I didn't use any stabilizer. The batting and baking fabric acted as my stabilizer. This was just a Hobbs 80/20 batting.
I used Quilters Select Free Fuse to baste the quilt top, batting, and backing together. Free Fuse is a powdered bonding agent that is activated by ironing. Check it out here www.luluandhazel.com/iishop?form_version=2&showSearchResults=1&search_keyword=free+fuse&image=Search
Probably a good video but I couldn’t concentrate on your work because that annoying, totally unnecessary, distracting, monotonous MUCH TOO LOUD music. Why do you people think music is good anyway? If I want to listen to music, I’ll turn on the stereo. I tried to watch it with the volume way down but then I couldn’t hear you over that awful noise.
I wanted to say that is very good work too,
Thank You for that beautiful Tutorial on the Quilting. Love it. So Beautiful ❤
Thanks so much for watching!
Really enjoyed this video . Thank you. Yes please more like this. 😊🎄
Thanks for watching!
I’m so happiest to see someone else using the S9 for quilting. I’m about to start my first project and I’m a bit nervous. Thanks for your tips.
Thanks for watching! I hope your first project went well!
Great job! Thanks for the video. Yes, i have an S9. Loving it. Just starting to do some quilting on it.
Wonderful!
Very practical advice. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
AcuSetter is my favourite app, so good to see a video using the S9. I love my machine 😊

Good job!!!
Thanks for watching!
I add markings around inner hoop outline before stitching just in case something like that happens. Then you can align hoop top perfectly with marks!
That is a great tip! I will remember that! Thank you so much for sharing, and thanks for watching!

Beautiful runner! Can you point me to the Merry Christmas embroidery design? I’ve been looking for that one.
Thank you! And yes, no problem! I ordered it from Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1087784215/

I love that you can hoop the layers. I am unable to hoop 3 layers on my Topaz 50. :(

Just discovered your videos. What kind of thread do you use in top and bobbin.

New subscriber I have a designer 1 Viking that I love but is there a way to use my files without the floppy disk

What brand is your interfacing? Ty. 😊

This was an early video for me, so I was still learning. I appreciate feedback, though. Thanks for watching!
