You are adorable! FYI, I am a nail tech. and a great way to keep your manicure is to oil your cuticles. You don't have to have a fancy oil just something you will use. Especially after washing dishes and bedtime.
so true, also my grandmother taught me that you always push back your cuticles, every single time you wash your hands, no need to get out kit, you do it with the towel.
I used to pincurl my hair every night in my teens and twenties. That would be during the late '60s/'70s. In the mid '70s we all had the Afro perms with the metal prong combs. After that it was a bob and I've stuck with variations on the bob
ever since. I'm 71 now. Makeup goes on every day and hair is done whether I'm staying home (which is mostly now) or going out. Back in the day we used Amami setting lotion (very sticky) and later a green gel in a wide squat jar called Dippity-Do. Anyone remember those? During the '70s and '80s it was the 1930s and 1940s styles I loved and was copying. And I loved 1920s art deco. Anyone remember Big Biba in London? I had my bedroom done out like that, dark amd moody, ostrich feathers in vases and one of those glamorous lady lamps and Hollywood style lightbulbs vertically in a row each side of my mirror. That was in England. I'm in Australia now, bit more laid back and up to date. But not the clinical grey and white granite and slate look.
Dippity-Do was great! I haven't thought of that in years.
In the 60's and early 70's we would set our hair with brush rollers. There were metal brush rollers and plastic brush rollers. We slept on them (barely) so that we'd have a good hair style the next day.Ouch-they were torture, but we wanted the right look for school or work. The pink sponge rollers were much more comfortable to sleep on, but often slipped out during the night.I still use Aquanet Hairspray!!!
One of the tips my mum taught me in the 80s for putting on long-lasting lippy, is to use your foundation powder on your lips as a base, then apply the lippy. It also helps to stop bleeding. I haven't done it forever, but i bought my first Besamé lippy recently and that trick was what saved me from throwing it at a wall. It's the worst lipstick I've used in 20 years for bleeding lol. Given that it's a replica recipe, i know why the foundation trick exists now 😂
Oh interesting, it doesn’t bleed for me! I always use a lip liner, and blot it too though; I wonder if that helps? But I’ve definitely heard the trick of doing foundation/powder!
I've always done this. Is that not supposed to be done? I've been doing it wrong? I base my entire face and a little of my neck. Sometimes I go so far that a little ends up on my hairline and I take a wet wipe to it carefully not to touch my face and only the parts that I got on my hair.
@WithLoveKristina yes the lippy comes with instructions and blotting is a key instruction. I also blot, I blot all lipsticks. I've never used lipliner because I feel like I look like a clown and I think it does help stop bleeding! I have a nude liner, I will try using that with the Besamè and see how I go!
Also, now I think about it, perhaps the fact that Australia is so hot that lipsticks are soft and melty contributes to the amount of bleeding im experiencing. I don't know why that never occurred to me! I need to investigate a makeup fridge now.
@Selena-gz9ts I don't think it's not meant to be done, I think it just fell out of fashion. Although I'm not a makeup girly and haven't seen a tonne of makeup videos, I have noticed that in all the ones I've watched, nobody used powder foundation as a base for anything. Except the one person who puts powder foundation on first then covers that with liquid foundation, & surprise! She does it because it makes her makeup stay perfect all day!
Ok but, especially with a newborn, how do you wait long enough to let your nails actually dry?! I am very impressed lol
Haha I do my manicure on the weekends so my husband can help with the baby! And also, he’s a very happy baby, as long as he’s fed and changed!
@WithLoveKristina Love You Kristina have a great night ❤
I love the nostalgic feelings I get from your videos. You're an amazing creator and your editing skills are brilliant. (Btw, I'm a new subscrber.) I remember my grandma used to get McCall's, Good Housekeeping, and the Ladies Home Journal magazines. I was 11, 12, and 13, when I started devouring the design, and beauty tips. I remember one magazine had a big "How to be Glamorous" interview with Joan Crawford. It was included as a pull out section. I was absolutely obsessed. My grandma let me take it. I had it for years. The styles began to change, as did the make up and clothing. I remember at 14 having a beauty routine modeled after this. Always wearing moisturizer, giving myself manicures, pedicures bubble baths. It brought comfort having a routine.
I love that your outfits were simple, but they look very well put together and elegant!❤
Just a thought - maybe you'd be interested - if you use your foundation basically to cancel out the redness, maybe a green primer would be an even easier option for that? lately so many green primers, concealers and color correctors have come out - brands have been really putting focus on correcting your skin so you have to use as little coverage as possible. It's nice, I quite like this trend
You look so beautiful and the baby sounds so precious in the background. Thank you for sharing😊
Beautiful outfits! I especially love the red dress!❤️
I am the type of man that has always felt I should have been in that time frame.... missed it though.... I think that the 40's and 50's were a magical time. This country came together and had neighbors that you actually talked to and had real-life relationships with... Americana lost and that is sad. So, Kudos to you for you to bring it back!
I want to make it very clear: while I love the aesthetic and style snd many of the physical items from the 1940s and 1950s, I very much prefer to live in the modern age and would never want to go back to that time. I like technology, I like equality, and there was a LOT wrong with the way people of minority groups were treated back then.
The aesthetic is great. I am obviously in a very traditional relationship that I love - because I chose that. But that’s it. Modernity and progress are in all other ways much preferable to living back then.
Yeah the aesthetic was great but there was also still segregation…not a very magical time to be alive in America if you were not straight and white
Your’s is my favorite channel! So inspirational and genuine. Thank you for your content. ❤️
I really like the lace background. How gorgeous!
Thank you! They’re repurposed lace tablecloths. I don’t use them on my table (they stain too fast) but they’re perfect to cover the closets!
@@WithLoveKristina I thought maybe they were.. I'm always looking for them while thrifting but I haven't had much luck lately..
Love your video. I am doing something similar but making it 1930s. I am starting to put in more effort for myself.
I love the 1930s! 😍
The blue and white dress is beautiful!!☺️
Thanks for bring "Class" back. you are AWESOME!
I love watching you get glamorous everyday!❤️
I love how authentically yourself you truly are ❤
I love Family Circle magazine. Too bad it’s not around anymore. Your make up look is so simple yet beautiful. It really shows off your natural beauty!
Is it not? I haven’t read one in years, I remember my mom getting them when I was a kid! They were fun!!
They discontinued Family Circle magazine a few years ago! I was so sad! It was one of my favorites, along with Woman’s Day! My mom and grandma read them both!
I loved this video, all your outfits are gorgeous and hair looks amazing!! I started doing my own gel manicures and pedicures at home to save money, and it last a lot longer than regular polish! I got my kit off Amazon it was no more than $30 and it came with led lamp, all the polishes top, base, and primer coats included along with other manicure tools!!!
Love this video! I agree - you do a lovely job balancing function and beauty with a splash of vintage. I love seeing his other busy yet intentional moms/women take care of themselves and their appearance!
You are adorable and your videos are comforting and relaxing to view. I’m so glad I found your channel.
I recently found your channel and I adore the videos I have binge watched , thank you 💕
I love your outfits. Especially, I love the pink dress and I love the black skirt with the gold and black top. FYI, Chinese Medicine with Acupuncture is a great healer. It does not hurt and it is very relaxing. Acupuncture can probably relieve you of the rosacea.
Thank you!
I love this video! Thank you for sharing these tips. I admire your ability to look beautiful while doing your normal activities.
It just makes every day feel a little more special 🥰
I LOVED this! You're elegant and charming! ❤
Aww, thank you!
For the younger generations sponge and rag rollers keep your hair curly all day unless they get wet. Lotta body is a great light gel for these curls for more staying power & springy curls. Fun video thanks for sharing 💕
*gasp* you look so beautiful in the intro. The purple head scarf and rosy cheeks with the pink is 💟
Oh thank you!
Kristina
You are amazing!!
I love this aesthetic 💕💅
I really appreciate you showing how you did your hair scarf that you use for bedtime. The one that I'm using now makes me feel very frumpy, but yours looks very lovely. ❤️
Do you have any problems with it not staying secure while you sleep?
I remember my Mum always wore a turban to bed over her rollers and around the house as she worked before she got properly dressed for the day and brushed out her hair. This would be in the 1950s/1960s.
Beautiful as always.
New subbie! I love, love, LOVE these videos! I’ve found my binge watch for the night. Thanks for sharing. Blessed be!🙏🏿
You look beautiful. I amalso working on getting myself put together more often 😅 Thanks for the video. Your hairs so silky and beautiful by the way!
So great!
🥰🥰🥰
Thank you very much for this. It's beautifully presented too and I love your friendly tone.
I love your videos! You have a sweet family 💛
I love your jade manicure set
Thank you! It’s from the 1940s, and I’m obsessed with it 🙈
Such a good video I want to start trying harder to do things like a little make up and maybe trying to set my hair to help me feel better about myself so thAnk you so much xx
I absolutely love your dresses! Where do you get them from? I just stumbled upon your channel this morning and have been watching all the videos. Keep up the great job that you are doing.
I’ll be doing a video on this! I shop all over the place so I think it’ll be easier to answer with a video 🥰 but if you check the description of my 100 year old cleaning routine I’ve linked some of my dresses or where I get them!
I love your style, you look marvelous! I only found your channel today but I have already liked and subscribed! I usually watch many videos from a channel before doing that but your honesty, style and personality have me hooked already. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos!
So cute! I love your outfits! I struggle with blush. I never know what shade or where to put it 😅
Hi, I just recently found your videos and have been binge watching. I love your earrings in your videos. Can you show us your earring collection? 😊
10:42 this outfit is absolutely adorable!!! And totally you!❤❤❤
So lovely ❤😊
Fabulous content 😊❤ so inspiring ❤thank you 😊❤
Thank you!
I remember my mom wearing pink plastic curlers to bed sometimes. Ouch!
Lol.. I grew up on those and still wear them when I want to be extra fancy haha.. I'm 52 ! ☺️
I could only ever do the pink squishy ones! They work!
@@mitomom4947 yes I meant the squishy ones!! ☺️
Do you remember the ones with brushes in them? They hurt to sleep on. My sister had an old firm teddy bear of mine she kept under her neck all night and slept on her back. (I still have that teddy, he would be 69 now.) Like one of those ancient Egyptian stone neck cushions the ladies slept on. Honestly, the things we did back in the '60s in the name of beauty. Those complicated up-dos all the interlaced curls.
My mom did too and I remember she put my hair in curlers too and it hurt to sleep on them! I hated my hair curled when I was little! I wanted it long and free!
What size scarf do you use for your hair? I always find that my scarves are too small.
Your hair is fabulous
You are so beautiful and sweet. I just discovered your channel. Now I look for strawberry things when I thrift or go to flea markets! ❤🍓
Can you do a video on how you find your accessories. Theyre always so perfect for your outfits. These earrings are gorgeous. Also, were did you get your dressing gown?
My dressing gown is vintage, I found it while thrifting! It’s from the 1950s 🥰
My mom used to have one just like yours, I remember her wearing in the 60’s and 70’s!
You are absolutely beautiful and so adorable! Love your makeup and hair and all your outfits! So cute!
Спасибо!
Thank you!
Cute dresses
Kristina, your video is loveable-did l rite it right?thunk you for these ditales and subscribes.keep being strong and romantic at the same time.sorry for my English.bye!
Thank you!
Love your video. Where do you get these scarfs?
Thrifting! I pick up scarves whenever i see them in colors I want at the thrift store.
❤❤❤
Where did you get the flower and polkadot earrings? I loooove them 💜
😊
Your outfits are beautiful
I wish I had your hair. I have naturally curly hair, which means that if I even walk BY a brush, it will frizz and look horrid. I have to finger set my hair and only EVER brush it if it's fully wet and covered in conditioner. :( The upshot is that it never looks tidy, professional, or intentional. The words "curl clumps" are the bane of my life.
What type of rollers are you using? Are they a type of wired rag roller?
Nevermind, I just found your hair setting video. Sorry 😊
What is your favorite vintage wedding dress? Just curious😬
They really loved lipstick 💄
I’m having a hard time finding cute dresses that fit the 1940s/1950s look that I am going for that is BF friendly
I’ll be making a guide to vintage dressing with a section for breastfeeding mamas!
🫶💯
is this setting hard on yout hair? i don't have the strongest hair and want to preserve it, but i love this kind of style
I haven’t noticed it doing anything damaging to my hair structure, but it does require lots of brushing so if you prefer not to brush your hair too often there’s that. You can also stick to softer bristled brushes and that helps.
@@WithLoveKristina thanks love!
@@larkfly9273back when I was in my 20s and curling my mid length hair every night I found rollers gave me split ends. I started pincurling and would turn the pincurl with the ends outwards flat to my hair and Bobby pin across them making sure all the ends were held under the pin. Sometimes it meant two bobby pins in a cross X shape. Hope that helps. And I would very lightly spray it with a water plant sprayer once pinned, to help set the curls, if it was between washes.
Promo>SM 🎉
You have a very beautiful face
She's just gorgeous.
Looks like a surgical set you just unrolled lol
Thank you very much Kristina for such a magnificent inspiring video and it was very helpful for me, by the way I can tell you that I love your makeup, I also usually apply my foundation where I need it due to my rosacea, you have perfect makeup a
nd no complications, although you are very pretty with and without makeup, a hug Kristina.
