@@KatieMoody 'The complete book of British Birds' and 'A companion to British Wildlife', they're great! Thanks again for sharing the recommendations. I'm already trying my hand at the goldfinch from the book as the ones on my crab apple tree won't keep still, lol
Second hand books are the best! My whole bookshelf has field guides, bird books, flower books, etc. They are a great reference to have when you need a little inspo!! Thanks for sharing your favs!
Thank you for sharingyour recommendations Katie! I'm a newbie and spend a lot of time looking on line (and attempt outdoors) but this gives ne a reason to visit my local 2nd hand shops 😊.
old national geographics were like treasure to little ole me, so many images o far away places and people, my imagination loved it and they def helped when drawing😀
Aw that's so nice! I've always admired those magazines, they feel so nostalgic! It was only a few years ago I twigged I could use it as references for drawing 😄
Recently found an old book with lots of animal illustrations that I got from my grandmother about 20 years ago. Have loved looking through it for inspiration. Definitely going to the second hand shop to look for more books, really want some books with lots of flowers and plants, maybe something with birds too 😄
Ooh that sounds great Hannah! Dogs are one of those subjects I rarely practise so that sounds like a great book! Do you mind sharing what it's called? 🧡
Thank you for these excellent book recommendations! Amazingly I found two of them used for great prices in the US & I’m super excited to get them. I’m a newer subscriber & just love all your videos - you’ve got me sketching again after a long break
Oh that's fantastic, so glad you could find them at a great price! Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment - it makes me so happy to hear you've been inspired to sketch again! 🥰
Hi. Thank you for your perfect videos. They are so inspiring for me. I have a question. What is the specification of the papers of your sketch book? I wonder how it works even if you use water base supplies without getting crumpled?
Thanks so much! The sketchbook paper is smooth 140gsm, so it is reasonably thin! It handles gouache really well, though it's definitely not a watercolour sketchbook. I tend to use gouache relatively thickly which helps and it doesn't crumple or warp the paper at all!
Thank you so much! I ordered two of your recommendations and they arrived today. Perfect for what I need.
So glad to hear it! ☺ Which ones did you go for?
