Hi Mike. GREAT video! This one ranks as one of your best!! In my younger life - I did a fair amount of mining in Boulder and Central City & Blackhawk. Never got to Leadville! Incredible views. Thanks for taking everyone along! Safe travels! Jim

Hey Mike maybe at Granite with no water, you should try some 'dry panning' , you'll have the place all to yourself and you might come home with some gold. Leadville sure looks like an interesting place to explore. 👍

Is this an area you searched during the Chase years? I kind of recall you were drawn to Colorado for searching.

No. I've always been a mining geek. I hung around and explored old mining towns long before the chase began. I gravitated more toward NW Colorado and the area around the Air Force Academy as likely places for Fenn's hidey hole. Later up into Wyoming, though I didn't advertise that fact, and let people think I was still enamored with Colorado. Unfortunately I did not pursue the Wyoming aspect as diligently as I should have. Life happened, and the chase got put on the back burner. Than someone else swooped in and took the prize.

@@omegageek64 thanks for sharing the video. Colorado has spectacular scenery. What part of WY are you in now? I travel the WY roads from time to time.

@@jeremydoggett5005 We have a ranch just outside Riverton. We try to spend at least a couple of months each year there, the warmer months.

@@omegageek64 I have been close a number of times going through Lander and Shoshoni but never followed the trail through Riverton. My son works in Cheyenne si it gives us an excuse to explore a lot of WY.

I got a dumb question, so with that warning out of the way, would it be possible to use water to basically rust away the iron in the IC chip concentrate then use gravity separation to rid yourself of the rusty water..or is that just trading iron for iron oxides that are equally as heavy and just as hard to get rid of? Ignore the fact it would add a outrageous amount of time, I'm just wondering if it is as dumb as it sounds 🤷‍♂️

It would probably work. Rust is less dense than iron. Separation should be easier.
