- Yes, a clone of the G10 Model Microtech MSI is the newer injection molded "budgety" version. Worth it to save a Hundred Bucks? Well, check out my review!

Check at Microtech Knives on Tuesday drops: microtechgear....
I don't mind FRN handles - the FRN is actually really tough and I like lighter knives. I just don't see how G10 is worth $100 more than FRN. I hope someone makes micarta scales for it!
I believe the difference is that G10 needs to be machined and the polycarbonate used for the injection molding is a much quicker process although just about as precise. I think for a hard use knife micarta may not be the best choice simply because it absorbs moisture and odors and dirt, although it may be attractive to some. I have a mix of all handle types and G10 and in this case injection molded are my preferences.
Thanks for watching! 👍🔥🗡️
Same. And I would say you’re correct bub. G10 needs to be machined into shape
That’s a great looking knife. It’s right up my alley.
Thanks, Togatta, for the share. Have a great weekend 👍.
Thanks! you too, Byron 👍🗡️👊
My polymer with the darker apocalyptic finish has visible vertical grind lines, but barely. Same lines benchmade's flat ground S30V has.
Great knife, the MSI I have a frag and one of the originals that I recently sold though, because the later models have a stronger liner in the front. My injection molded one is partially serrated like yours, and I just ordered carbon fiber scales for it. Yes it makes for a damn good EDC. Saved about 100 bucks easy by my own scales. Thanks ... not for everybody but that's what makes the world round. Thanks for the video.
Let me know what your source is for your carbon fiber scales. Microtech?
Where did you buy the scales?
Etsy, actually I have a MSI with carbon fiber scales as well, thay are like $100-110 bucks
I would like Original Goat to make a Titanium Scale and Skiff Bearing Kit for this MSI Model. Then, it would be "PERFECT!!!" :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
That would be awesome! You never know... 🤔🗡️🤔
I just ordered one an hour ago, I've been wanting one since they first unveiled them but i really wish it was G-10 or CF, I'm not a fan of the light weight injection molded knives but i made an exception for this, I really hope we see a titanium version eventually
Already dropped it twice on a driveway and a concrete floor with no visible or mechanical damage aside from one microscopic chip out of the edge. For my money it's a beast! 👍🗡️👊
I love how they made a budget version of an already budget version knife.
Microtech 🙌
Awesome video! Just purchased this exact knife several days ago and can't wait until it arrives! Would have loved the G10 versions but happy to have gotten the polymer MSI. Thanks for sharing, subbed!
Great! Glad you're on the TOS Team. 😁🗡️👊 This one's been my daily carry for the past month - no regrets!
I accidentally bent the clip on my Stitch, but I was able to bend it back easily enough. I think these clips have the lip sticking out more than normal so it can catch on things more easily. I re-bent mine to mimic the shape of my Ultratech clip and it seems to work better.
I'm actually hoping they do a production run of a more premium MSI. I'd like to see it with a titanium or aluminum handle, maybe with some inlay work. The MSI is a great work knife and it would be nice to have one with a little more heft for those who don't mind.
I think they're ready to roll on that one pretty soon! This has been a popular model for them! 🗡️👍👊
Ordered one last Saturday (06/22/2024) and it was delivered to me yesterday (06/24/2024). Mine was the injection molded version with plain edge. It had horrible lock stick when I first got it but since I've been fidgeting with it a lot, it is noticably less. My problem is my hand size. I wear medium size gloves and my fingers are a little bit on the shorter side. When I close the knife, I have to brace my pinkie and ring finger on the pocket clip. The RAM-LOK is also rough on the thumb and index finger but the knife is growing on me. I see myself carrying this one a lot. The sound it makes is very reminiscent of the Benchmade Griptilian. Even with the injection molded handle scales, this knife feels like it could survive an asteroid strike.
Never had any lock stick with mine and I carry the injection molded version daily, also having the G10 version. Both of mine are a bit earlier versions, so I'm not sure if the lock stick is something new or not. Glad you're staying with it and breaking it in. I think it'll serve you well, as does mine! 🗡️👊🗡️
Awesome. A more budgety version. Good to see
Right on!
Who doesn't want to save $100.00 for another knife 😅 although not considered a premium scale material, it wears in the pocket very nicely. The skeletonizing looks like a lint trap for sure.
True about the skeletonizing but a little candair takes care of that on a periodic basis. No issues here! Thanks for watching! 👍🗡️👊
I just got one in OD green. I'm getting skiff bearings and OG scales for mine, tho. 😊
Nice!! Mine is just a daily workhorse, so no need for fidgeting or glamming it up! 😅🗡️👊
I'm going to get one but I'm waiting to make sure microtech has all the bugs worked out
My exterminator just left and took all the bugs with him! 😆🗡️👊
I wonder why yors has a serial number and mine dont?Mine only has the date.
Question for Microtech, I think. Where'd you buy it?
@@OGBladeReviews Eknives.
Been wanting one since these first dropped polymer handle is fine by me for the price savings. I’m sure it will still be a great edc knife. Nice review.
Thanks for watching! 👍🗡️👌
will they make any new ones? in europe you can't get it at all 😞
I absolutely luv mine. Great Video! :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
Just got it today. I like the looks of the Amphibian better, but wanted to try the ram lock out first. Because I'm not really a fan of the axis lock, so I thought I get something cheaper first. All I can say is, definitely getting the Amphibian 😂
Very nice! Really, the Amphibian is more "Tactically" oriented, but the MSI really is a highly useful EDC - Carry mine everyday! 👍🗡️👍
@@OGBladeReviews generally I like clip point Bowie style more 🤠. But looking forward to cary the MSI tomorrow at work. I think for opening boxes and general utility cuts it will be great ⚔️
So nice 👍
My daily carry for the past two weeks! No regrets! 👍🗡️👊
I just got mine...i ordered plain edge, but they mistakenly sent the partially serrated one. I didn't complain because its still a great knife, decent price !
Years ago all the benchmades that I ever bought we're partially serrated and they came in very handy for rope and strapping daily use but I understand the aesthetics of a smooth edge are better to the eye for most. Enjoy your purchase! 👍🗡️👊
Yea this knife is awesome would have loved to get one. Except they were sold out so quickly and I'm not paying double to the damn scalpers.
Edit: i see that there are versions with serrations that are available but I don't get knives with serrations.
I get that you may not like serrations. The very first Spyderco knives were serrated and went over big. No worries - they'll restock on smooth edges next round, I'm sure
Plain edges are back in stock. I just ordered one.
@@michaelrogers9029 I literally checked as soon as I saw your comment. All gone....
I just ordered a non serrated one tonight from E-knives
The handles are Polymer
Thanks, okay injection molded polymer. 👍
Awesome video! Thanks! Whats the mat you're using there? Looks great.
Thanks for watching! That mat is actually a plastic coated paper to simulate gator hide. From a local art supply store. Eventually they wear out but they're not too expensive... 🗡️👍
