best way I have heard to describe this, helped a lot thanks :))!
+Conor Davis Thanks! Honestly, I think that one rule is pretty much the basis of all Western harmony. As time goes by we get more accustomed to certain variations, so we have to find new ones to surprise us again, but in the end it's all about maintaining that balance.
+12tone yeah for sure! Totally agree!
Honestly, the lack of elephants ruined this vid for me.
:P
I'm more familiar with the Four Chord Song starting on the sixth, thus going vi - IV - I - V, or i - VI - III - VII in minor. Then it would be Tonic - Tonic - Tonic (or Subdominant) - Dominant, which fit perfectly into the Doo-Woop Progression.
Nice! We're actually talking about that variation in our video this week!
Btw, I only just understood this from watching your videos on chord functions, so many thanks : )
Seems like “harmonic progression” would have been a more fitting title for this vid :/
More or less.. it's just simplified.
No, this title is more appropriate.
Yeah, as far as I've learned about harmonic rhythm, it has more to do with how often one should change chords. This also feels more like a lesson on chord progression.
Nothing in this video has to do with Harmonic rhythm except for the opening sentence maybe
Interesting explanation of the I V vi IV progression
Good video, but why don't you explain the important and unknown subject of harmonic rhythm and its impact on music. (what the title implies)
Lol. Your doodles at the end are funny !
I didnt quite understand how rhythm works in this video. Help me guys
I would define the doo-wop changes as: I, VIm, IIm, V personally.
Does this all fall apart once modal mixture is introduced? Then, how could you contextually figure proper assignment of the degree being borrowed?
Gotta catch em all
Haha man how about that elephant close-up?!?
+Morgan Wells That animation broke my computer but I'm pretty sure it was worth it.
It might be because the rhythm is exceedingly clear and there's one hell of a forward momentum and these are common aspects of American popular music. It helps, of course, when you have the truth. Or something that's true enough.
"The Various Reasons" sounds like a horrible band name.
