    Switched all my jigs over to vmc Mooneye the bait/plastic holder makes a huge difference especially with live bait. Great video looks fun patiently waiting for open water here in northern Ontario 👍🇨🇦🎣

      We filmed on the WI near Petenwell on Monday. Fish were very shallow. Good luck to you at Depere!

    Been fishing in Chamberlain a few times. Probably our nicest stringer ever came from that area!

      I fisheythete also and fishing was good not great. We caught mainly 15-17 inchers which made for the best fish fry of my life. Game wardens we’re checking everyone and they usually go where the fishing is hot. For a new guy I’d definitely recommend Chamberlain to put on the bucket list. Super boat landing and wind not a factor(lucky). Then went to the next dam north, I believe Fort Thompson and fishing totally shut down. Found out they regulate the flow of water going through and it was shut down as were we. For serious walleye fishermen the Missouri River is a must and Chamberlain is the perfect place. This was 35 years ago so things have probably changed. I’d still make Chamberlain a must destination.

    Heading up for the first time this weekend. Do you have any essential navigation tips for navigating this area/river?

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  2 года назад

      Get yourself a Lake Master Chip. The chip is a great job of showing the main channel. Anytime you get up out of the channel make sure you keep your eyes peeled for any timber that might be in the area. Neither Marcus or I know that area exceptionally well so when we're out of the main channel we usually take it pretty slow.

    Does the 360 work in deep water or does it work best in shallow flat bottoms. Great show👍🏻

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  2 года назад +1

      I guess it all comes down to what deep water means to you. For us we've had lots of success using it for walleye in 30 to 40 feet of water. The detail and clarity is fantastic. That said, it might work great in water deeper than that but I can't recall us ever having the opportunity to test it deeper than 40 ft. And the bottom definitely does not have to be flat. Reefs and humps and brake lines show up great on mega 360.

      @@InDepthOutdoorsTV thanks for replying. Yes my deep is 20-30 ft. I’m currently using a helix 3 so I was thinking of adding a 360 to it.

      Mega 360 works great at those depths. 👍

    I usually fish the St. Louis River on opener. I bought some of those Moxi plastics. Is there a specific water temp you’d want to cast and reel/jig those in?

    • @InDepthOutdoorsTV
      @InDepthOutdoorsTV  2 года назад +1

      Soft plastics work great from ice out up to when the temps get into the mid 50s. Not that you can't catch walleye on soft plastics when temps are warmer but 32-55 degrees seems to be the sweet spot in our experience.

    Can you add links to the fishing rods you use? I know it is an Okuma but can't seem to find the exact one on their page. I need a new rod for spring walleyes jigging.

    With most people using braid for jigging what are the benefits of using mono?

    • @xCruZChaos
      @xCruZChaos 2 года назад

      Mono is better at certain times in my opinion.
      Jigs fall different on mono than they do on braid. They have more of a “glide” through the water, as opposed to a sudden drop like they do on braid.
      This is because A) mono floats, and B) mono has a thicker diameter than braid (depending on # test used).
      Mono also has stretch, so I find fish are more inclined to hold on to a jig with live bait since they’re less likely to feel you like they would with braid.

    What was the water temp when you were out there fishing?
