  • This video shows lines 1 to 4 of "Gum Gong Kuen" from Tibetan White Crane Kung Fu (Pak Hok Pai). The video was taken during my class and shows the applications behind some of the movements as I teach them.
Gum Gong Kuen is an advanced set in our system. It is also known as "Buddha's heavenly warrior" or "diamond fist". It is called diamond in reference to the heavens, or stars as diamonds in the sky (like the big dipper). Sometimes it is referred "Heaven shine boxing". More practically I call it a Charging Fist set because the motions are meant to be performed fast with some lines charging ahead to the opponent. The form is great for building power thru speed and agility plus it is long and good to train stamina. The form also has many great fighting applications. This video shows a few applications to hopefully gain interest in others learning this great system.

I really like the way the arm bar can be used both as a joint lock 🔒 and as a strike, just yesterday I was diagnosed with cancer and its my training in pak hok pai kung fu as well as your videos is what is keeping my spirits up 👆, keep em coming.

I have been watching both you and Gareth smith and the way he does gum gong is like a lot of walking around with some occasional punching like decending back fist and over hand striking, and I really like the way you do this aspect of gum gong better, now when I train in pak hok pai I will train in evasion like 45 degree steps and 2 steps to move about in a circle but I will use both defensive and offensive techniques with it, but actually I really like the way you and carlo tonti do gum gong.

Thanks! The styles from Lion's Roar are all very martial focused. Check out Lama, and Hap Gar as well. These are the sister styles of Tibetan White Crane (Pak Hok Pai). In the time of Ip Man, our founder Ng Siu Chueng did indeed know Ip Man
