@Spencer Phelps justin guitar and marty music are the 2 best free guys on youtube. i only been playing a few months and i can do so much from what they taught me
Hi Mark I teach bass and that's exactly why I like this. It opened up my head when I watched a video about playing the Blues in "A7". Each 7th chord is the Mixolydian equivalent of its own Major key. The song ain't in A in my mind any longer but my ear is trained to hear it all as in A. And if you play whatever mode keeps you in "A" then you have a lot of new notes to play with. In this case A Mixolydian (D) over the A7, A Dorian (G) over the D7, and A Ionian (A) over the E7. Keeping it all in some modal form of "A". Cool trick.
I m a bit confused with this 12 bar blues, i m a beginner and learned than the 12 bar blues in key of A for example is 4 barre of A, 2 barre of D, 2 barre of A, 1 barre of E, 1 barre of D and 1 barre of A and 1 barre of E. This one starts with 1 barre of A and 1 barre of D... the whole track. Anyone can explain ?
Its called a "quick change" and is a very common variation of the 12 bar blues. Instead of playing 4 bars of A (the 1 chord) as the first 4 bars, you play 1 bar of A (the 1 chord) followed by 1 bar of D (the 4 chord) and 2 bars of A (the 1 chord). The following 8 bars are usually as you have described, although there are other variations that are quite common for the last 4 bars!
you should check out justin guitar website, he has a intermediate course all about the variations, and its all free. hes the best teacher on the internet. he explains things slowly and in such a cool way.......i know i might sound like im pitching him but its all totally free and i learned alot about the blues from him.
@@gristamshackleford2102 will check him out, i saw many of his videos, will go deeper. I signed up with guitar tricks a yesr ago, it s good but very old school and not very fun to my taste

I really like the dirty organ part. It's kind of the rug that pulls the place together.
Perfect for my mixolydian lessons!
