  • Last year I ventured to West University Place, a city around Rice University that has their own public works department. This is their oldest truck which serves as a spare in place of the Volvos they currently use. I was fortunate enough to catch it on yard waste, especially on a massive pile in the beginning. Hope you all enjoy!
Thanks to the cool crew for letting me follow and film for a bit!

Awesome video, definitely been looking forward to seeing this truck in action for the longest, but unfortunately I believe it has been retired now, because West U has a brand new Freightliner Heil 5000 RL now in all white. I always thought this truck picked up recycling, but I figured it does yard waste because I’d always see it driving back from the local mulching place; I know these guys are jealous of their neighbors from Bellaire who use grapple trucks to pick up the bigger brush piles. But hopefully you get more footage from both cities soon, because there’s talk of them going fully automated soon.

Thank you dude! The day I went I saw like 4 of the Volvo VHD trucks, and then this. I know another RUclipsr visited from Cali and caught this truck on recycle last summer. I’m also surprised they don’t use grapples since typically city-run operations do. I may need to check out Bellaire sooner than later too! Do you know when they might go automated?

@@RefuseDFW02 I didn’t know they had more than one of those VHD trucks! That’s awesome, as for them going automated, I wouldn’t expect it happening earlier than 2025 at least, since nothing official has been announced yet; hell they might just roll carts out and just stay semiautomated.

Those were sure a lot of beautiful greens thrown away at 7:54 both in clear bags and tied up. I'm sure the owner does not care about what is going to happen to them being compacted into that truck and then going to the dump. Have to feel sorry for them as least I do. Someone should have rescued them before this happed to them. Poor babies

They probably use a wood chipper for garbage. Lol
