To the people complaining about the car not having bulletproof windows it does, its just the bad guys are firing grenade launcher shells at it and 100s rounds of ammo. The glass isn't indestructible
+Fergus M You can see that when the tyres re-inflate the alloy wheels are a different style with a thicker spoke, BMW's "Classic" style, presumably to hide the charge that re-inflates the tyres.
Actually it was done for two reason; 1) the wheels they had on the bmw in most of the scenes were too thin to pull off them going flat without the wheel riding the rim instantly. 2) If you look closely when they are "reinflating" the whole car is actually being jacked up with hidden jacks to make it look like the tires are reinflating. It is a very impressive movie magic trick.
I worked for Ericsson back then. We sponsored this movie. Notice the Ericsson cell phone he's using? Ericsson was at their peak of success in the cell phone market.
diego750il ah, that's the funny thing. This was in the early days of serious movie marketing. Erickson hadn't produced any model that looked like it particularly...of course nowadays they would.
Sorry for delay in reply. It was actually a small land mobile radio called the IPE-200. It was pretty simple - no touch screen. Sold between 1995 and approx. 2001. Probably longer in some countries. Russia and China companies were big users.
+Ragitsu The Daniel Craig films still have humour, they just try not to be silly. Die Another Day made the Bond franchise look so ridiculous it's no wonder they've toned down super cars and silly gadgets.
On 4 movies with Brosnan, only one is realy good (GoldenEye), the other age just terrible with bad script, random direction... Maybe the movies with Craig are less fun, but if we look them honestly, there are better on every aspect. Ps : sorry for the false, i'm french and my english is'nt perfect.
this is by far one of the greatest script car chases ever made. I mean what did this look like on paper when someone wrote it would be a good idea to have a car chase in a car park....
Jon Paradero The crazy part is this isn't the coolest Bond phone. That honor goes to the Agent Under Fire game. It has an electronic decryptor, a metal cutting laser, a grappling hook (so good it came back for NightFire), and a remote signal transfer program. It's a lot cooler than Craig's games going "it's a smartphone, of course it does stuff."
This BMW was ahead of its time! Over 20 years later the new 7 series can be remotely controlled. It’s a shame the new 7 series isn’t as good looking or as tough as this legendary e38!
WonkyTonkBotty I BEG OF YOU, please edit the end of that scene so you can hear that in the background. Hell, Franklin gets a literal Bond car anyway, it fits!
What I find awesome. I was back then as the shot the scene in Hamburg there where the car crashes from the house roof in an opposite building. The parking deck is not from the Atlantic hotel, but from a big department store with name "Saturn". The Atlantic Hotel lettering have probably conjured with the computer then. And the building of which the car drives through the wall is not the saturn building, but a clothing business name "Peek & Cloppenburg".
I believe it was due to budgetary reasons as they were cheaper. 16 separate cars were used in the film and all had to be modified to be driven from the backseat.
hahhaa agreed, but it was more of a a cheeky icing on the cake moment. The most specific overall gadget is the sonic ring from Die another Day. He just happened to be standing on a raised glass floor when he was captured. The gadget was so bad they had to reboot the series.
That's the distinction in acting that Brosnan provided as Bond. His facial expressions in all of his movies were phenomenal and so cool, no matter how badly the movies were written
He is like a Kid with a New Game boy.. He was having fun u can see it in his face like he doesn't care if they want to kill him he will go down happy.😁😁
I was in love in that car when I was 5 years old because of this movie, and now im 17, the dream car of my friends are lamborgini, ferrarri but I still dreaming to get this car :) I don't know, she have style :) oh ! and love that part 3:43 with the bond'expression
He has amazing skills eh? Never practiced or trained using the car yet he can control it under pressure. Probably had all the RC cars when he was a child? LOL
Nico Montinola Where have you been? Everybody knows that 007 is an expert at everything. Haha. To be fair though, 007 showed Q, earlier in the film, that he was familiar with the car & could drive it with the remote.
Avis employer: No sorry, we currently don't have any BMW 7 Series for rent. Customer: Are you sure? *car honks "BIP BIP BIP BIP BIIIIP", Crashes into Avis car rental* Customer: What you said?
this is because when bond is not in the car he sets the security system to protect the car when he leaves it unattended and when he gets in he disables it so he can drive around this I why if you recall the lotus blew up in for your eyes only when guy smashes the window
One of the best car chase scenes in the franchise.
This car was freaking unstoppable.
To the people complaining about the car not having bulletproof windows it does, its just the bad guys are firing grenade launcher shells at it and 100s rounds of ammo. The glass isn't indestructible
Probably only strong enough ti withstand small arms fire.
James Todd I dunno, glass withstanding a *direct hit from a sledgehammer* is pretty insane already.
Nothing is bullet proof.
and they need to shut their shitholes- it's James Fucking Bond!
Explosion can destroy a bulletproof shield
Car: "Reminder: Unsafe driving will void warranty!"
Bond: "Lol."
At least he returned the car in AVIS agency in the end of the scene, talking about doing things properly
That face he pulls when his tyres re-inflate :-)
+Fergus M You can see that when the tyres re-inflate the alloy wheels are a different style with a thicker spoke, BMW's "Classic" style, presumably to hide the charge that re-inflates the tyres.
and 25 civilians were killed...
+yu stu tbf, most, if not all of them were enemies, not simply civilians.
***** Who? Where?
Actually it was done for two reason; 1) the wheels they had on the bmw in most of the scenes were too thin to pull off them going flat without the wheel riding the rim instantly. 2) If you look closely when they are "reinflating" the whole car is actually being jacked up with hidden jacks to make it look like the tires are reinflating. It is a very impressive movie magic trick.
The music, the car, the EVERYTHING...
The best car chase of the whole franchise period
For me as a german, it sounds hilarious to hear the german dialect of the bot in the BMW XD
Ich weiss was du meinst :D
"Welcum! Plise fahst your seatbelts."
"Draifer alert. Reduze spihd nau!"
I am German and that's my impression from the german dialect of the bot. xD
"Unsafe driving will void warranty"
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Q modding the fuck out of that car already took care of voiding said warranty.
One of the best 007 car chase scenes
That guy with the rocket launcher had 1 job. 1 JOB!!
+ZyncInteractive Who in their right mind aims at the window with an anti-vehicle weapon? One hit on the front grille would have taken out that BMW.
Samniss Arandeen most people wouldn't be able to keep calm when a car is speeding towards them
I'm still wondering how the f**k they smuggled that thing into Germany.
He fired his rocket, Job done.
It's the rockets job to hit.
+ackbarfan5556 Maybe they stole it from a Bundeswehr arsenal!
My favorite Bond actor - Pierce Brosnan!
Mine too! All of Brosnan's Bond films were perfect.
Mine too, he's the best actor who ever camped James Bond, he has a charisma and a superhuman class and he got the best suits of the saga.
back when Bond was fun and cool!
and who says cell phones are harmful to people
+George Ishaq lmao, true. Still waiting for my MI6 BMW app though, 19 years, 19 years... :/
+Andrew Shaw
well I hope the day comes when you get it
+George Ishaq haha thanks bro, I'm sure I'll be the next Bond while I'm at it!
it kinda makes you think you're playing a video game even though you're not
James Bond, literally gives 'back-seat driver' an all-new meaning in this scene.
tthomaselli2 In the same movie he joked about them in the prologue to boot.
This was one of the coolest memories of my childhood!
Abominatrix650 This is definitely one of the best car chase scene of the franchise
This is one of the best car chases in cinema history.
now that's how you return a rental car!
Fun fact: The parking garage where this is filmed was actually located at a shopping mall in London.
Sure, because you cant film in a parking house from a real hotel. :)
Will Poundstone Yes, nur the end again is in Hamburg (Mönckebergstrasse).
Brent Cross Shopping Centre. There is a picture of Brosnan and some of the cast on the wall, near WHSmith.
I worked for Ericsson back then. We sponsored this movie. Notice the Ericsson cell phone he's using? Ericsson was at their peak of success in the cell phone market.
+MikeinVirginia1 Did Ericsson produce that cellphone? I mean, not with the screen and the tocuhpad, but the front part of it. Which model is it?
diego750il ah, that's the funny thing.
MikeinVirginia1 no it wasn't. Sony Ericsson JB988. Google it.
MikeinVirginia1 the IPE 200 looks nothin like it
The recent James Bond films have forgotten how to have FUN!
yeah spectre was crap!
+Ragitsu The Daniel Craig films still have humour, they just try not to be silly. Die Another Day made the Bond franchise look so ridiculous it's no wonder they've toned down super cars and silly gadgets.
They also forgotten how to have bad...
Piotr Boukaïeff
Bad "what", exactly?
On 4 movies with Brosnan, only one is realy good (GoldenEye), the other age just terrible with bad script, random direction...
Maybe the movies with Craig are less fun, but if we look them honestly, there are better on every aspect.
Ps : sorry for the false, i'm french and my english is'nt perfect.
this is by far one of the greatest script car chases ever made. I mean what did this look like on paper when someone wrote it would be a good idea to have a car chase in a car park....
Congratulations on a safe journey !!
The last line said by the GPS lady is the funniest, considering what Bond did with the car for the last 5 or so minutes.
THIS is the James Bond I miss
This was a totally breathtaking scene.
Natalya's "boys with toys" suddenly comes flashing in with the awesome cellphone.
I always cite that rocket launcher fail as my favorite moment in any Bond film
and not one bad guy thinks to shoot lower at the engine..
I would love a BMW like this!
Any chance of getting an electric version?
Car returning level: Like a boss...
This is one of the best Bond Car chases
This BMW was ahead of its time! Over 20 years later the new 7 series can be remotely controlled.
It’s a shame the new 7 series isn’t as good looking or as tough as this legendary e38!
One of my fav bond scenes. The end especially
To me Mr brosnan was one of the best Bonds ever !!
Still think this Brosnan's best Bond movie. Love that BMW.
i think is the car chase in tomorrow never dies is the best car chase ever in the world
I remember watching this as a child, my first Bond movie and I could not forget how awesome BMWs because of this scene lol
2:33 oh you are lucky James Bond
3:51 - "Franklin! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!!!" (Look, the building even says "Rent a car"!)
WonkyTonkBotty I BEG OF YOU, please edit the end of that scene so you can hear that in the background.
Hell, Franklin gets a literal Bond car anyway, it fits!
I'm actually considering buying those Chrome Rims on Ebay for my 5!
Bond's face when he re-inflated the tires :D
A car with all those gadgets, can't make a bulletproof windshield .......
They did in The Living Daylights.
Didn't the windshield get blown out by the underbarrel grenade launcher on that one dude's M-16?
kaikaichen Yeah. The windshield was bulletproof. It needed an explosion to get rid of it.
Ricardo Maritza who gives a shit its a movie
Ja Ka and a great one.. :D
Step 1: Put this on half volume
Step 2: Open Benny Hill's theme in a new tab
Step 3: ???
Step 5: Profit.
The second best action sequence with James' Pierce Brosnan era gadget-packed car after *Die another day* with the superb Aston Martin.
I love that in this movie, the bond car was SEDAN. Very different to other sports cars in other films. It was something different and cool!
3:50 “If ever you’re not satisfied with one of our cars, please feel free to bring it back.
*crash*
Thank you.
Avis Rent a Car.”
I saw this bond when i was 5 yoears old and since then i have been big fan of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.
Top 3 car chases

2. Tomorrow never dies chase
3. Diamonds are forever chase
Uhh goldeneye tank scene is the best lol
For Your Eyes Only had a pretty good car chase too.
This was filmed in Brent cross shopping centre in London, not in Germany.
anton dunster The first 2 and the last 35 seconds are filmed in Hamburg.
"Warning unsafe driving will void warranty" lolz
i love James Bond Tommorow Never Dies
I believe it was due to budgetary reasons as they were cheaper. 16 separate cars were used in the film and all had to be modified to be driven from the backseat.
3:50 "sorry guys, I'll pay later"
aaah the feels of nostalgia
hahhaa agreed, but it was more of a a cheeky icing on the cake moment. The most specific overall gadget is the sonic ring from Die another Day. He just happened to be standing on a raised glass floor when he was captured. The gadget was so bad they had to reboot the series.
best scene ever! BMW and Ericsson hot ad lollll. the female car's computer voice: ''Reminder: unsafe driving will void warranty'' LOLLL X 1000

He is like a Kid with a New Game boy.. He was having fun u can see it in his face like he doesn't care if they want to kill him he will go down happy.😁😁
It's actually a 740iL re-badged as a 750 for film purposes. This is stated in the behind the scenes.
With all respect to all bond actors, pierce Brosnan has nailed it.
I was in love in that car when I was 5 years old because of this movie, and now im 17, the dream car of my friends are lamborgini, ferrarri but I still dreaming to get this car :) I don't know, she have style :) oh ! and love that part 3:43 with the bond'expression

Nico Montinola Where have you been? Everybody knows that 007 is an expert at everything. Haha. To be fair though, 007 showed Q, earlier in the film, that he was familiar with the car & could drive it with the remote.
They need to bring back BMW for the next Bond Movie!!!
Really super ; Simply say " Rajinikanth of Hollywood " ... ~ ~ !
He quite possibly could be the best bond....
1:53 he's like "Huh? That shit didn't work?"
@supremelove83
Transporter 1 featured the 1999 BMW 750iL (however, in the movie the car is referred to at the BMW 735iL).
@whopper1209 WMG stands for Warner Music Group. This is a movie which was made under MGM Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Not the same.
Smart Summon where you at?
Paris brosnan great actor and Great movie Tomorrow Never Dies
Avis employer: No sorry, we currently don't have any BMW 7 Series for rent.
Customer: Are you sure?

this is because when bond is not in the car he sets the security system to protect the car when he leaves it unattended and when he gets in he disables it so he can drive around this I why if you recall the lotus blew up in for your eyes only when guy smashes the window
@tigrelle The documentary about 007's cars claimed that it was the latest model from BMW at the time. Which would mean the car is the 1997 model.
Herbie, Christine, sorry, but this BMW just took all the cake.
2:25 me with an RPG on gta 5
Ben Boolin that's actually my dad lol
You miss and blow up your own teammates?
I love how that car has a Buzzsaw.
