Everyone commenting about the guy leaning on the shovel must have never had a job before. Sometimes you have to wait for someone to get done with their part of the job before you can start your part of the job. And don't tell me "he should be doing bla bla bla", sometimes you just have to stand there for a bit and that's just the way it goes. Get over it.
When I saw Tim leaning on the shovel my only thought was mild envy at how comfortable he looked. I was too tall and skinny to ever make that work, so ended up just standing around getting sore feet.
Not to poke the bear here but I'm in my early 30s and (A.) No customer ever has said "wow I'm so greatful to be paying hard earned money for young kids to look lazy" (B) no employer has ever said "take 5 go lean on a shovel or something" (C.) EVERY and ANY job i have been on there is ALWAYS SOMETHING to do to MAKE you "LOOK" busy....regardless if it is important busy work and just needs to be done or just digging for live bait to schmooze the boss over by taking him out fishing, it's always about customer perception....but not our places to judge either way...
In that job you always can tell if the machine operator does well or not. When he does his job properly handfolks only standing around. If he is not worth the money, the handlers are beating
I can’t remember how many of these videos that I have watched with Tim doing an awesome, outstanding, great, job of holding that shovel up and always there for assistance, sorry you had to leave Tim, good luck to you. Great videos Chris, keep them coming!👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
WOW.. Just WOW... If I ever need someone with your skills. I hope the person I hire is as good as you.... What a delight to watch someone that is good at their job is sometimes... Keep up the great work....
You can definitely tell the difference in the controls, such a smoothness with the Volvo compared to the yanmar, it seems kinda jerky but it could just be the bucket sway that throwing me off. Either way nice job and thank you for a wonderful video as always!!
When you were putting in the last section of pipe I’m hollering at my iPad move the chain move the chain. And then you told them to do it and I said this is why he gets the big money. You can’t steer a pipe like that from the ends that are going together injury will result you steer it from the other open end. It is amazing how much equipment is needed to do a seemingly simple job that is not so simple and it is also expensive.
When I saw the skidsteer show up I thought "wow, what a lot of machines for a little job!" But then I thought, heck, they are sitting in the yard, it doesn't cost much to bring them out, and it is probably cheaper to do the job with the little machines than the big one, and the various machines probably end up getting the job done faster.
letsdig18, Could you do a video showing you at the controls AND the bucket movements. Then we could see both the movement of the controls and what your hands are doing to get the bucket to move where you want it to. Maybe put the camera on the back wall behind your head. Thanks
Did you think in your wildest dreams that so many people would be inspired by watching you? Keep up the good work. I don't know why people rag on Tim for leaning on the shovel. What else is he suppose to do? Jumping jacks?
The owner of the company that did the local storm sewer work found a man leaning on a shovel at a job site. He fired the man and paid him cash for the hours in that day. The guy happened to be a homeowner just watching the the work.
Good morning Chris, Thank you for the video. I notice that there’s not much coverage of spoil on the pipe , I know it’s concrete but here in the UK we like at least 600 of cover or incase in concrete. 👍😎🇬🇧.
The tilt bucket made short work of that! People need to ease up on Tim, he’s doing exactly what he is suppose to be doing. Waiting patiently until he is needed sometimes that means standing around waiting. Still jealous about the new loader!
Just asking, why not use the backfill blade as an outrigger to keep the mini from rocking? That is the first thing I do when I get in digging positions with the vio35 we use. Just wondering not criticizing, I notice you guys rarely put it down while digging.
I’ve seen it normally plastic pipe requires a couple of feet of cover to get full strength so it doesn’t crush . Concrete is normally go to go with minimal cover
@let'sdig18. With all the Volvo equipment you run why didn't you go with a volvo mini? Reason I ask is I'm looking at a new volvo58 and it is smooth and fast.
Chris do you ever dig graves with the Yanmar ? I have the 100 sized Yanmar with the grave bucket it works so much better then the jd backoe I use to use they are fine machines.
Do you are an art, se you working. I have met many diggers....and when the hand man is looking and looking it is the best machin is the best hand💪god workink. Best regardst Denmark/Rune
You enjoying that tilt bucket there Chris? Not that you need one but they sure are handy! It takes me so long to get use to a 900mm rock bucket to my usual 2 meter bucket!it's like we're did my bucket go!ps the yanmar looks a good machine will definitely look at them when it comes time to buy a mini!
Chris I love your content and skill. Was laughing at a video I watched from 31 Mar 2018 titled How to Cut and Grade a Ditch, where in the intro you claimed you "don't have a quick coupler or one of those fancy rotary buckets that does 50 million things..." Hahaha...do now, pretty handy little piece of kit!!! Your other subs are going to roast me for mentioning this, but I can assure you its all in fun. btw you can put a two-way valve on there so you can switch from fancy rotary to using the thumb at the flick of a switch. Thanks for the vids and keep up the good work!
Now that you put in a bigger pipe it seems to be right at the surface of the driveway. Will traffic damage the pipe or will you build up the roadway higher?
I know nothing about what is going on, so take this question as a noob looking for information. He is so careful when he picks up those concrete pipes. Can that excavator crush those pipes if he exerts too much pressure? How fragile are they? I do understand a little about structure - and point load. Is it the clawed side that is the real danger?
Your skill with the machines is nuts. I was expecting you to just close the thumb and lift the pipe out. Then a flick of the bucket to catch it and roll it out. No use of the thumb at all. Props
Did you hear about the guy whose invention put hundreds of helpers out of work? He invented a shovel that stands up by itself! Great work guys. I also understand the work flow makes it where Tim must wait patiently for his next role. Bet you a donut he's on the ready at the snap of your fingers too!
because you put the storm water drainage on the same level as the road. there is no likelihood of breaking because there is no thickness of soil between the hollow and the level of the vehicles
Tim just has that certain look while keeping that shovel from walking off ! Great job Tim! Keep up the great work 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

You are right but I think most people are just having a laugh at Tims expense. Bit of light ribbing.
When I saw Tim leaning on the shovel my only thought was mild envy at how comfortable he looked. I was too tall and skinny to ever make that work, so ended up just standing around getting sore feet.
My first thought was that Timmy was interviewing for a Govt job.

Chris has it going on, I wish we had more young men following his example.
Wow! Awesome job to the whole crew. Came out great

Another fine video. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Mad R.E.S.P.E.C.T on the singing Chris! Lol you crack me up!
Very nice job Chris old pipe out new one in, using mini and big excavator, and Skid steer.....👌
That's just beautiful. What a nice machine
Chris, you are one talented surgeon!
Nice install of the new pipe!
The person operating the equipment is amazing with it.

Always fun to watch ya work my friend. Keep em going!
Great achievement considering the confined area you're in!
That tilt is great!
16:30 Too funny the way your uncle mounted that pipe and got her in!! LOL
I wish the letsdig18 shirts had pockets , I would order some lol . Thanks for the videos , fun to watch and learn

There are six-way valves you could put on the boom so you can have a switch to choose to use the tilt or the thumb
As far as your singing goes don't quit your day job fella......... Great job as usual!
Tim isn’t leaning on the shovel he is stopping it falling over.
Health & Safety is important on any job 👍🏼
Why didn’t we see it finished?🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing that the video missed finishing the job, I don't enjoy jobs left hanging and turned it off.
Hey Chris i just started whatching ure videos an i enjoy them
When you were digging out the old pipe, Tim reminded me of "State workers" holding up the shovel so the handle wouldn't get dirty.
Looks like he needs one of those shirts with the picket sewn on upside-down to hold the end of the shovel
I was thinking Mr. Peanut. Lol
I heard they are developing a shovel handle with a foldout seat.
My boss would have made me pick up rocks while he used the machine..
Hah! I was wondering if Tim had ever worked in a union?
Nicely done!
Thanks for the video.
Tim deserves a raise.
Good singing!!!!! Thanks for highlighting my commit on the last video you posted!!!!! :-)

Don't mess with my bud Tim!!! 😁
Like a surgeon with that thing, Chris.
Good morning Chris, Thank you for the video. I notice that there’s not much coverage of spoil on the pipe , I know it’s concrete but here in the UK we like at least 600 of cover or incase in concrete. 👍😎🇬🇧.
Love watching a Yanmar machine in action. Wish I could afford one.
Do you pivot the machine using the bucket to keep debris off/out of the undercarriage? If you don't mind me asking.
what cha call that type of bucket ? like to have one for clean up, skid roads, ruts etc . !!!!
usually referred to as a ditching bucket
Liked the video bro, it sure helps when you have the right gear on hand and a good ground crew. Had a giggle watching Tim breast feeding the shovel.
The tilt bucket made short work of that! People need to ease up on Tim, he’s doing exactly what he is suppose to be doing. Waiting patiently until he is needed sometimes that means standing around waiting. Still jealous about the new loader!
If that impresses you, you oughta look at more videos of tiltrotators. Dirt ninja for example.
Hellstain Macdroobs yes I watch Tom all the time too. Very good stuff
Maybe I missed it but what was the reason for the replacement? Looked the one that you took out was decent size.
owner wanted wider and upgrade to concrete
You handle the concrete pipes so gently. Are they easy to crush with the thumb if you aren't careful?
yeah you can break them easily
Just asking, why not use the backfill blade as an outrigger to keep the mini from rocking? That is the first thing I do when I get in digging positions with the vio35 we use. Just wondering not criticizing, I notice you guys rarely put it down while digging.
awww didn't get to see the finish. Nice job Chris.
that was it for that day, itll be in another video
look at you go !!!! that little bucket is sweet, nice for grading ehy ????
Do the joints have a compound or seal? I think I heard you say it squirting out (?) what is the compound is so, and is it applied by the manufacture?
Digging with a clean up bucket.
Ha... Dunno about anyone else, but I think this is the first time I've ever seen plastic/vinyl pipe pulled and replaced with cast concrete pipe.
I’ve seen it normally plastic pipe requires a couple of feet of cover to get full strength so it doesn’t crush . Concrete is normally go to go with minimal cover
Same here. The HDPE pipe is much easier to work with.
@@NotSureJoeBauers Customer is sometimes right... but they do pay the piper, so they always get to call the tune - After they sign the release.
On one of your videos can you comment on the reliability of the yanmar since you had it looking to replace mine
Chris have you ever tried putting a go pro out on the boom to give us a different view or would that make the viewers motion sick?
been done
Lol if he did that constantly you would notice the fuck ups he's done not every operator is perfect and safe all the time
In Edmonton Alberta the pipe made here are required to have lift pins in the concrete
Is your thumb circuit your side to side with your euro trash side to side bucket thing?
@let'sdig18. With all the Volvo equipment you run why didn't you go with a volvo mini? Reason I ask is I'm looking at a new volvo58 and it is smooth and fast.
Just curious. What type of pipe is best? For instance, you just pulled out a plastic pipe and replaced it with concrete. WHY?
Chris do you ever dig graves with the Yanmar ? I have the 100 sized Yanmar with the grave bucket it works so much better then the jd backoe I use to use they are fine machines.

Seems like those culvert pipes are a wee-bit @
the “tippy tops” of the flood stage. From where I’m at.

The pipe seems a bit above grade, unless you’re going to build the driveway higher.
Im jealous you guys get to work year round!! I'll take the rain over snow and frost!
Time to move, ya think?
Chris, how do you feel about the wrist being a hydraulic motor as opposed to a cylinder?
Chris I love your content and skill. Nice vid chris tks gary
What model number/ size the the larger excavator?
Love your singing at 17:17
Great videos Chris
Sit back. I can’t see. Lol. Ok. Now what do I watch for the rest of the day? 👍 God bless and peace from Va. 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
Sometimes you just want a new, bigger pipe 😉😁
Let the record show that is in fact what she said. Lol
There is even a little innuendo In the title. 😆
Mrs. Elite Earthworks oh really?!
Elite Earthworks LLC 😘
Well this is awkward^^^^^^^
what do ypu think about the yanmar vio-35
Now that you put in a bigger pipe it seems to be right at the surface of the driveway. Will traffic damage the pipe or will you build up the roadway higher?
I had the same concerns/questions. Seems the ditch should have been dug a little deeper but maybe the pipe can handle the traffic.
No finished video or pictures??
What happened to ripping that beeper off. :)
Was that pipe a bit high there at the end? Or is there some gravel coming in to finish it off?
raising the road up
we call it breast feeding the shovel in Australia every company has one local councils collect them but sometimes you have to wait
Lol dude Cool that your picking up the pipe WTH your bucket. But better to just use a chooker cable.
Why the change?
The singing is what did it, for sure.
I know nothing about what is going on, so take this question as a noob looking for information. He is so careful when he picks up those concrete pipes. Yanmar is getting so much youtube exposure these days.
Andrew camarata got like 3 of them.lol
I run the same size as Chris it's nice machine only thing is wish it had bigger area for your boots lol on the paddles.
boy that little bugger is fast !
Dale you couldn’t tell Chris had the video footage sped up. The mini’s really do have fast cycle time and he runs it around wide open
Are they expecting the 100 year flood that you had to put bigger pipes in such a small area???( Is their that much runoff when it rains)
Your skill with the machines is nuts. I was expecting you to just close the thumb and lift the pipe out. Then a flick of the bucket to catch it and roll it out. No use of the thumb at all. Props
the thumb doesnt work when the grading bucket is on, I can only run the attachment
Have you ever made a “blooper” video? With your mad skills it’d take years to get enough footage! Great job !
So little wasted motion. What a pro.
Your pretty good. Is your excavator?
Did you hear about the guy whose invention put hundreds of helpers out of work? He invented a shovel that stands up by itself!
Great work guys. I also understand the work flow makes it where Tim must wait patiently for his next role. Bet you a donut he's on the ready at the snap of your fingers too!
Looks like Tim needs to invent the self standing shovel LOL good job guys keep making these videos we all enjoyed them
a good operator has a bored ground guy LOL
He's always holding that shovel up lol
letsdig18 that’s the way it should be good job
This is way more relaxing than yoga. Not that I have ever tried yoga.
making look easy
I love your videos
What was wrong with the old pipe, not to mention the new one appears to be too high
owner wanted concrete, we are raising the road up
Sew Tim’s shirt pocket upside down so the shovel handle will be easier to lean on! Lol, just kidding y’all, great job.
Good video! how long does it usually take to upload a video? (from record to youtube)?
im about 4 days behind now
because you put the storm water drainage on the same level as the road.
there is no likelihood of breaking because there is no thickness of soil between the hollow and the level of the vehicles
Part 3???
What happened to the 5 acre pond project?
I think it has been too wet for them to work on it.
Your partner sure has the 'leaning on a shovel' posture down pat
Just think, Tim gets paid to lean on that shovel.
hes ready when I need him
@@letsdig18, yeah but it usually takes 10 more years and a government job to get that skilled at it.
