The Narnia books are magical and spiritual in the best ways for both! I read the entire series to my youngest daughter.. when she went to visit her grandparents across Canada, she begged me to tape (audio record) the upcoming chapters so she could learn to them (late 90s). Sadly last summer tried to read to my niece, stationer with the Lion, the Witch And the Wardrobe - but there was so much history and cultural context to explain that we had to stop after 4 pages 😕
Netflix should just not make these. I mean, it's taken soooo long to get these going. They should just drop it honestly. 😑 I don't like Netflix anyway. There is a positive side to all of this , friend. If the Netflix version flops, it will make people come to appreciate the previous adaptations more than ever before. Mabye, the underrated Disney movies from 2005 to 2010 will get a resurgence in popularity, or maybe the BBC versions will be looked upon more fondly because of it's faithfulness to the original books and for being so funny. The 1979 animated movie has good things going for it with my favorite part of it being the music. There is nothing Netflix could do that would truly take away my love for this series. "For Narnia.. and for Aslan." ❤️🔥🦁
When Velma came out, Scooby-Doo fans came to appreciate many of the Scooby-Doo shows before it. When the Star Wars sequel trilogy came out, Star Wars fans looked back at the prequels in a more positive light. I guess if there's one good thing about Netflix's Narnia being bad, it's that people will probably come to appreciate the previous adaptions more than they ever did before, like the underrated Disney versions or the unintentionally funny BBC versions. Even the 1979 animated movie had some things going for it like the amazing soundtrack.
@megazman-y6j it's a vicious cycle right now. People want faithful adaptations-> studios produce bad adaptations-> people go back to the old adaptations since they are better.-> studios see that and double down on more adaptations. - repeat.
For most of the news that I am hearing, I am going to tread on this whole project very lightly. I am hoping that the project is faithful to the series and to Lewis and not to the current modern propaganda and ideologies. I will be praying for the whole thing to be faithful and not going off the rails. I am one parts optimistic and one parts pessimistic for Narnia films. I can't wait for "The Screwtape Letters" and discussions about it!!! Did you know that they made a radio drama with Andy Serkis as Screwtape? I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the letters. "My dear, my very dear, Wormwood, my poppet, my pigsnie..." The Screwtape Letters

With all the controversy over quite a bit of the content Netflix has put on their platform, I do not see myself getting a subscription just to watch The Chronicles of Narnia seeing as they have their hands on the rights to it. If a theater release gets made, maybe. At least then I will know what project my money went into supporting.
I don’t trust a radical feminist or a DEI studio to handle Narnia with respect at all. The “Rock and roll” comment really has me feeling sick. The new reading order of the books should never be the order in which movies and or TV shows should be made. The original reading and release order of the books should be the only order in which movies/TV shows should be made.
I don't have any problem with Narnia having friends of more than one colour. It would only be silly if the siblings are different races - Not if Polly or Digory or Jill, or Caspian or Jadis or some of the seven Lords, or Frank and Helen, are.

Thank you,Stuart. I've an inkling Uncle Andrew, Screwtape and his minions are laughing out loud. Hopefully I'm wrong. Start of the slippery slope... ( Let's stick with the BBC productions of the eighties. )
they should do the books in chronological order. Mag Nephew, TLTW&W and then the horse and his boy. This way they can keep going with the main 4 kids they hire though Voyage. As so far as the Magician's Nephew starting the new whatever it's going to be. It just feels right.
As I have said before, Magicians Nephew ruins the magic of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobes. It should never be first. Publication order is the way to go. The only book whose order doesn’t matter is The Horse and his Boy. That could be second.
Amazon - Rings of power destroyed HBO- Harry Potter coin flip Disney- Star wars burned, Netflix- Witcher dead Netflix- Narnia we’ll see😬 hope I’m wrong but they are killing IPs left and right these days and they will probably ignore the books and lore, cause Hollywood hates Christians.
I love and adore the Chronicles of Narnia series! I have only read the Magicians Nephew.. I had a one volume that featured all 7 books that had the Prince Caspian movie tie in. I lost my book so I need to go and buy a new one! My reservations about this comes from two questions that I have 1. Can Greta Gerwig stick to the source material, capturing the magic and its important Christian themes from the books, the characters and world building of Narnia itself? How can she do it? 2. The more importantly is the portrayal of the Great King himself - Aslan! He is a very important and much loved character throughout the entire series. In order to do this right, Greta needs to know who Aslan is and represents! Greta needs to present his wisdom, Salvation and leadership etc. He is the creator of Narnia and it’s people who lives there after all! He represents Jesus. I can’t see no one else voicing Aslan other than Liam Neeson himself! He portrayed the character so well because it is how I imagined Aslan speaking while I read the Magician’s Nephew! If Liam Neeson is able to - could he return to voice Aslan once again in the Netflix adaptation? This series means so much to me! I don’t want Netflix to screw it up! They need to leave the first three films alone! Personally I hope they can adapt The Silver Chair! 😢 I have a feeling that Greta Gerwig would do The Magician’s Nephew first! I haven’t seen much of Greta’s work.. but I hope she can do this right, but right now I am a bit hesitant. I just hope that Netflix can love, respect and take care of the world that C.S Lewis has created while adapting his books into films (the two films that Greta would be directing is what I am referring to) Many years ago, I used to be a Christian… I ended up walking away. The Chronicles of Narnia means so much to me and I watch the films every year on Christmas Day while trying to find the book series in book stores so I can read them.
As long as it’s a good movie that is faithful to the book I’m fine with it not being in theatres hopefully it does it would be cool to see it on the big screen
Past film adaptations of the Narnia books: Way back in 1979 there was a cartoon film version of "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe". In the late 1980s and early 90s there was a series of made-for-TV films made in England. They adapted "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe", "Prince Caspian", "The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" and "The Silver Chair". Then of course in the mid-to-late 2000s there were theatrical movie adaptions of "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe", "Prince Caspian" and "The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader". I'm kind of bummed we never got adaptions of "The Magician's Nephew" or "The Horse And His Boy".😞
It's a Christmas miracle indeed 🥳 let's hope Greta and her team of writters adapt Narnia with respect to the original intent of Lewis. Also, it's awesome that you are going to read the screwtape letters!! It's such a great book that can bless and challenge anyone who reads it!🔥 God bless you always!
Magicians Nephew should be left in 6th position. If you read/watch that first, you ruin The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobes magic. You know why the Wardrobe works.
I know what Greta has said about Narnia, but that doesn’t matter. She does not understand the true heart and message at the center of the story. After what she did to Little Women (changing and messing with the characters and their beliefs and arcs, making it extremely feminist), I just don’t trust her. I’m calling it that she’s gonna infuse her own personal beliefs and biases into the story. Honestly, if she cares anything for the integrity of the story, she and Netflix will drop the rights and let like minds such as Dallas Jenkins take on the story. He would do a far better job and actually do justice the heart of the story.
Thank you. Her _Little Women_ just seems angry and antisocial. The Laurie/Jo proposal scene is just ugly, with none of the sadness and yearning that Christian Bale and Winona Ryder brought to it in the '90s.
@@tirzahadcock2319 I was literally just telling my family that they should give Narnia to Dallas Jenkins. Though he is by no mean a huge Hollywood director, he has real talent. His movies like "What If" and "The Resurrection of Gavin Stone" are fantastic. More obviously, his "Chosen" series demonstrates his ability to make a well-received product for a low-budget cost. His most recent work on "The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever" strikes an excellent balance between artistic interpretation and authenticity to the book.
I don't expect the Netflix series to be faithful to C.S. Lewis body of work. I got all the books. Nobody is gonna break into my house and change them. They are safe in my library of physical media. God bless, Jesus saves! ❤❤❤

@@IntotheWardrobe hey would it be cool if they did. Cause who knows. A space trilogy movie. Or technically the ransom trilogy. Also I think your theory in the video about the space trilogy how the world of that and Tolkiens world and Narnia are connected by the wood between the worlds is amazing and makes sense.
I have no hope when I heard Greta was involved with this project, she is not the right person to be working on this series. I'm scared that she is going to throw woke stuff in the movie that C.S Lewis would not approve of. So I have a bad feeling she is going screw up that series
True but to be fair Tolkien added some cool elements in his world that weren’t necessarily in some mythology’s. Like the werewolf’s weren’t shapeshifters but evil spirits trapped in wolves. And one great werewolf in the book called Carcharoth had a venomous bite which isn’t in werewolf legends. So Tolkiens criticism is a bit hypocritical but not gonna judge cause he made amazing books. He did his own world building, which is amazing and he added great detail which is a very incredible thing too. C.S Lewis did his own thing he even encouraged his readers to do the world building saying I’ve left you with plenty of hints now you can write some stories. But at the end of the day Tolkien and Lewis were good friends that did criticize a bit but that just strengthend there relationship. Anyway bless.
I read the screwtape letters it was amazing. Also I pray that they do well with Narnia. And also if I’m honest I kinda want it to be lion witch and the wardrobe and price caspian. But magicians nephew would also be amazing I wonder what the second will be. Time will tell. Well love the video man keep up the good work. And I pray you get even more views and subscribers. Not sure how I feel about Greta Gertwig directing, I really hope I’m wrong and it’s really good but after seeing the whole rock and roll comment online on media outlets everywhere I’m not sure what to think.
I think the comment by the producer was off-the-cuff and just meant as a tongue-in-cheek way to be coy about the details of the production. To be honest, It's completely different than the way Greta has spoken about her approach to Narnia, which seems to be consistently an attitude of fear and respect.
I can't wait for Netflix to complete the Narnia cinematography, with all seven films based on the seven books because cinematic justice is never done for this great saga with a medieval and ancient style. Like Jason Isaacs I also love the magician's nephew, which is my favorite book like his, because it marks the origin of the Narnia of shadows. And everything is pure at the moment of creation, including mute and talking animals. I'm curious to listen to the letters of Berlicche as we say in Italy, namely the Screwtape letters which is the original title of the work. See you soon. 💘
Really hope we don’t get a reboot of Narnia they would better do a history in Narnia are book not maid into a film yet . So magicians nephews are the time between jades making winter eternal in Narnia would find that interesting thing to cover
I am cautiously optimistic. There is definitely a chance that both Netflix and Greta Gerwig could go wrong with this project, but there is also a high chance that it will go wonderfully well. And be respectful of CS Lewis's faith and stories. So we'll see!
I might be in the minority here but I'm actually very excited for this series. It seems it will explore the interdimensional magic of Narnia more deeply and I find that intriguing. I liked the Narnia films (the first two especially) more than the books because I found the books to be somewhat underwritten. The films added a lot of details and they still worked great. If I don't like what they add to the series I'll just go back to enjoying the books and the films we have, but I do look forward to seeing what they're going to do.
Yep! Screwtape would prepare Us for the Next Year alright! Dear Lewis was Trying to Warn Us! I do hope that Narnia's plans manage to stay afloat. That and the HBO Harry Potter, I'm worried about these classic 'children's' franchises and their timeless lessons being preserved. I found out that Universal chose to fund/create an How to Train Your Dragon theme-park, and all I'm thinking of is: They better not try to make an Narnia Land!
The Bible teaches us about the high places. We, as believers in today’s times, are quick to overlook the high places. Netflix as a company has no biblical or moral alignment with God’s Holy Word. Not that Disney was any better. To endorse the death of children and then take money from Christians because it is a movie based on a book written for children by C.S. Lewis-I don’t know, but it feels like an anvil in my stomach and gives me a heavy heart.
Question, can you do a video on Time, the giant. He just kind of shows up, blasts his horn, Aslan says he will have a new name, and then we don't even confirm if he makes it to heaven. It seems good fodder for this is confusing so we might need to dig deeper.
PREDICTION - Everything is going to be from Susan or Lucy's perspective and Peter and Edmund will be background characters. - Jadis' backstory will be changed to make her a victim, justifying her antics and actions. - All the nymphs, spirits and fairies are going to be non-binary or coded as drag queens.
Hopefully Netflix learned from the Witcher mess but I have a hard time believing Gerwig has any respect for the beliefs of a deeply Christian man from the 20th century. Netflix wants their Game of Thrones and they will keep burning through franchises to get it. After Barbie, Gerwig should be able to do whatever she wants but instead she's going to add another failed fantasy franchise to the growing pile. It's such a waste of time, talent, and money. I hope I'm wrong and in 2026-27 we get this amazing movie and people make fun of posts like this, but I can't see this ending well.
After watching what Netflix did to the story of Mary, they really should shy away from producing Christian based Stories. Their depiction of Mary was a historic and theological disaster. I can't imagine the mess they will make of Lewis' Narnia Series.
@@IntotheWardrobeoh it’s on Netflix it’s called Mary. It’s about we’ll probably don’t need to explain. You probably got it. They say it was not historically accurate I don’t have a say cause I didn’t watch it. So yeah anyway that’s it. Hope this helps.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Netflix should just not make these. I mean, it's taken soooo long to get these going. They should just drop it honestly. 😑 I don't like Netflix anyway. I have prayed for Narnia for years, but I would be totally okay if Narnia never was made into a movie or TV series again if it was to save the beloved series.
But we should at least try to be optimistic. I know Netflix isn’t the best thing Narnia may need. But trying to have hope.
@@RodericGurrola yeah, trying to be hopeful. But man, you know? They can almost never get anything right. It's in the hands of man, but I trust God knows what He is doing.
@@NarnianTerabithian Amen. Agreed.
- repeat.
The only thing i need is Liam Neeson to return as Aslan, his voice truly is perfectly powerful yet comforting

Praying it’s either a continuation or a soft reboot so the OG cast can come back as the adult Pevensies for Horse and His Boy and Last Battle
I think the old cast being brought back would be awesome, but I wish a different director would continue with the Walden Media versions.
Even though they weren't specifically done from a Christian perspective, they kept some values of the story.
It's a Netflix adaptation so it'll be The Horse and his Girl.
It would be so great to see them in that context. A nice bit of closure.
Sad really! It's sad to see C.S. Lewis's story being made into something it's not. :(
Thanks for the great news .
Irrelevant side note: It tickles my fancy how the sponsor is a Southern Baptist institution while Lewis was an Anglican
Oh yeah realized that. 😂
How can a woman so consumed with "toxic masculinity" handle Lewis' vision properly? I have little hope she can overcome herself.
@@rdrift1879 do you have any examples of Gerwig herself talking about this? I haven't been able to find any, only film journalists summarizing their interpretations of the Barbie film.
@@IntotheWardrobe Barbie for sure. But also her take on Little Women. When faithful to the book, it was enjoyable, but then she rewrites it with her own philosophy. I cannot remember what she said about Narnia. It is her past work that makes me think she cannot grasp a man as a leader and protector.
@@rdrift1879 she did seem to respect Narnia and be in awe of it a bit.

Great video, as always! ❤
Thanks for your report on the behind the scenes pre-production developments for Narnia's Netflix. Hope it is good.

Having both Narnia and the new Harry potter series, british actors will be everywhere
I hope I’m wrong, I’d love to be wrong and have something to be excited about. Greta strikes me as the type to address the “Susan problem” from a radical “modern audiences” perspective.
The new reading order of the books should never be the order in which movies and or TV shows should be made. The original reading and release order of the books should be the only order in which movies/TV shows should be made.
As long as they respect the source material while also creatively retelling the story.
I can guarantee that at least one of the children will be black or Indian.
And so will many of the other cast.
I don't have any problem with Narnia having friends of more than one colour. It would only be silly if the siblings are different races - Not if Polly or Digory or Jill, or Caspian or Jadis or some of the seven Lords, or Frank and Helen, are.
Peter - Black female
Susan - Chinese lesbian
Edmund - Black male and gay
Lucy - Male transgender
Aslan - Indian in wheelchair and bisexual
White Witch - Straight white male
Mr Tumnus - Mexican female toaster
Excited for the screwtape letter coverage. Ive had the book for a while and have never cracked it open. Time to read it along with everyone. 🙌

It's hard to follow all the news, even if you're trying to hear it all! This is exciting! I hadn't heard about Jason Isaacs, that's perfect.
Oooo I’m excited for wormwood Wednesday!
If she screw this series up, I would me very disappointed.
Love the idea of going through the Screwtape Letters. It’s been one of the more influential books to me.
A very fine theatrical version has been making it's way around.
Netflix will ruin the Narnia series.
they should do the books in chronological order.

Please make a video explaining hidden details in the lion the witch and the Wardrobe
I love and adore the Chronicles of Narnia series! I have only read the Magicians Nephew.. I had a one volume that featured all 7 books that had the Prince Caspian movie tie in. I lost my book so I need to go and buy a new one!
My reservations about this comes from two questions that I have
I have a feeling that Greta Gerwig would do The Magician’s Nephew first!
I haven’t seen much of Greta’s work.. but I hope she can do this right, but right now I am a bit hesitant. I just hope that Netflix can love, respect and take care of the world that C.S Lewis has created while adapting his books into films (the two films that Greta would be directing is what I am referring to)
Many years ago, I used to be a Christian… I ended up walking away. The Chronicles of Narnia means so much to me and I watch the films every year on Christmas Day while trying to find the book series in book stores so I can read them.
Hurray new episode!!!!
As long as it’s a good movie that is faithful to the book I’m fine with it not being in theatres hopefully it does it would be cool to see it on the big screen
Past film adaptations of the Narnia books:
Way back in 1979 there was a cartoon film version of "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe".
You Wont Believe ANDUIN As King Of NARNIA Soundtrack 2024
It's a Christmas miracle indeed 🥳 let's hope Greta and her team of writters adapt Narnia with respect to the original intent of Lewis. Also, it's awesome that you are going to read the screwtape letters!! It's such a great book that can bless and challenge anyone who reads it!🔥
God bless you always!
Delighted to hear about the Screwtape Letters. Check out A Grief Observed. Powerful.
I don't expect the Netflix series to be faithful to C.S. Lewis body of work. I got all the books. Nobody is gonna break into my house and change them. They are safe in my library of physical media.
God bless, Jesus saves! ❤❤❤
Do you mean not faithful or not blatantly about Christianity?

Dude this is a Netflix adaptation so it will be The Magician's Niece and The Horse and His Girl
Given The Movies Walden made I am..skeptical. only hope they remember these are Children's stories. And Keep that spirit.

Ok well let’s have some faith and hope that it won’t be like that we can’t always assume the worst.
Isaacs could be an awesome uncle Andrew
8:44 One of the problems that J R R Tolkien had with Narnia was that he didn't like the way Lewis combined various mythologies.
@@RodericGurrola More than friends, Tolkien was influential in Lewis' conversion to Christianity.

Ooo I really don’t trust Greta gerwig to treat Narnia the way it deserves.
I've never been excited for this adaptation.

I just want it to be good. Is it to much to ask? 😂😂😂😂
Is is these days I’m afraid
Im on the fence
Yep! Screwtape would prepare Us for the Next Year alright! Dear Lewis was Trying to Warn Us! I do hope that Narnia's plans manage to stay afloat. That
and the HBO Harry Potter, I'm worried about these classic 'children's' franchises and their timeless lessons being preserved.
I found out that Universal chose to fund/create an How to Train Your Dragon theme-park, and all I'm thinking of is: They better not try to make an Narnia Land!
Two words. Dallas Jenkins

Bro nymphs would be so cool as drag queens :D
Hopefully Netflix learned from the Witcher mess but I have a hard time believing Gerwig has any respect for the beliefs of a deeply Christian man from the 20th century. Netflix wants their Game of Thrones and they will keep burning through franchises to get it. After Barbie, Gerwig should be able to do whatever she wants but instead she's going to add another failed fantasy franchise to the growing pile. It's such a waste of time, talent, and money. I hope I'm wrong and in 2026-27 we get this amazing movie and people make fun of posts like this, but I can't see this ending well.
