tbh its much better than Mordecai development with Margret and CJ combined it leads to dead end that my opinion
I'd argue Muscle Man got the most development. He went from a character with one or two traits, to a very fleshed out character with lots of personality.

I actually always like Rigby, slightly more than Mordecai
In the early seasons, though he was kind of a jerk, he was Mordecai’s bets friend, and best friend’s usually be mean to each other the most.
Mordecai was only intrigued by Margret and disregarded Rigby, which is one reason why he bullied Mordecai in some episodes, because he just wanted to spend time with his bro.
In the late seasons, he really matured and wasn’t a jerk to Mordecai as much.
At the end of the day, Mordecai took Rigby’s friendship with him for granted. Rigby really enjoyed spending time with him, but Mordecai was only interested in Margret.
In many episodes, Rigby seems benevolent towards non-recurring characters.
Rigby also did a lot of favours for his friends, which Benson reminded the Park Gang after they refused to help him gain back his pride, after he was humiliated on that “Expert or Liar” show.

Being a child is laughing at Rigby being an idiot and a loser.
Being a grown up is realising Rigby was a good person and a way better friend than Mordecai.
To be fair, Rigby caused his fair share of issues. But certainly got way better.

Edit: everyone had their own issues, because nobody's perfect, these characters really show how regular they all are
This is one thousand times better than every relationship Mordecai was ever in.
Thats cause Mordicai always trys to change during his relationships, Rigby just acts like Rigby and thats what she wants.
Izlagalia More like the girls in his life were the problem. Margret was always with different guys in the beginning and rejected him to go to University, and CJ had a bunch of mood swings. At the most, Mordecai is just a bit awkward around girls he likes, but he is still a good guy to have.
Edit: Yeah, I looked at his “simp”licity (yeah I went there) and he was even more dumped out than I remember. I thought it was just the one thing with killing Rigby in that alternate dimension, but he’s done plenty more afterwards.
Agreed. The only sad moment for me is when they do the "ooooh" and then they say "how could we do that?" I would do it forever if I had a friend to do it with!

Kini’iro Margaret was confusing, I’ll give you that, but she was also trying to achieve her goals, and she didn’t need that broke boy holding her back. He worked a low paying job, not excelling anywhere, and was unmotivated.
CJ was better for him because she was low maintenance, and she only wanted him for him. He got hung up on a person who didn’t want him and destroyed their relationship from the inside.
She deserved to be in the show more.
Milo21- she became a main character in the last season due to popularity and to keep it from being a total sausage fest

In Meet the Seer, when the Seer tells them about how their universe was ending, she even mentions that she wished Eileen had a bigger role in her own universe, and Eileen gets this horrified existential look on her face.

When I was young, I was annoyed by Rigby and preferred Mordecai.
Now that I'm in my teen years, Rigby is a WAY better character than Mordecai.

Their relationship is so real and believable honestly a highlight of the show for me. I love the fact that they developed and started dating off screen I love the fact that they didn't shove it in your face and just let their interactions do the storytelling. It was always great and they will always be my favorite characters in this show.

I love the episode “Eileen Flat Screen” it’s just so wholesome seeing rigby do something actually nice once in a while :3
I thought their relationship were so cute, and was pretty excited that they're canon to the end. Rigby is a slacker, or was until he's with Eileen.
Rigby is a real one. He no simp.
Their dynamic in “lift with your back” is something I yearn for. Nothing beats coming home to a girl who genuinely cares about you after busting your ass at work.
Crazy how your opinion of the two main characters flip around as you grow older.

Now that I'm older, realizing that Rigby started off a looser, but improved his life, and got in a healthy relationship with Eileen, while Mordecai didn't really change much, besides kinda for the worse.

Heck he went back to school and got his diploma, all because he wanted to be the "guy that eileen deserves" So we actually see self improvement with rigby. I honestly love how realistic this show can be
The relationships feel more real and Eileen and Rigbys especially feel so genuine and healthy.
It shows multiple sides of relationships, with skips one love, modi tries compacted relationships, Benson's professional bonding relationship, muscle man's people who are perfect but have some up and down relationship, and rigbys perfect relationship

Rigby's true intentions lie in his actions, and is arguably the best character to have the role of a best friend on Cartoon Network. He always supports Mordecai, he's super spontaneous, and even kept relations between him and his girl to a minimum for his sake.
