Jonas prayer was a prayer of desperation knowing that God is the only one who can save him. Jonas also knew God wasn't finish with him. God gave Jonas a mission to do.

Your reference to whale, "no large fish" was initially correct, Matthew 12:40 Love you

Respectfully I have a question. I noticed your emphasis of a great fish versus a whale. Given Matthew 12:40 why not call it a whale?

Good question, fare question too. KJV is isolated in translating the word to be a “whale”. Because it’s not a word that clearly and cleanly translates to whale, I feel “whale”can be presumptive and even restrictive. We don’t know what type of fish or sea creature it was, just clearly large enough to hold a human. It’s clear the event was a miracle either way.
