      Hey i am working on the file tree needed for all games and all CHEATS! The FXpak pro has a cheat file and if you want to i can send a 1 click solution for all the games to work. Including the JPN to ENG translation games! or if you go to Vimms Lair and go to SNES then search enhancement chip it will show you all the files and then what i did was renamed them to the proper name after extracting or unzipping them first. I worked on a full cheat files list for FX Pak Pro only ( SD2SNES is a separate file format) I can send you a google link so let me know.

    As for audio volume levels, did you download a prepatched rom package, or did you patch the roms yourself? There is two things that can cause bad volume levels. If you are playing the very first version of rom patches they were too loud and making a new updated patch rom will fix it. The second reason would be the person that converted the music into a pcm file was bad at it and made everything loud. I recognize that zelda as the one i made so i am not surprised it is a good volume level.

    • @90sNick_Pinesal
      @90sNick_Pinesal  8 месяцев назад +1

      Most of them are prepatched roms from the internet Archive. I did attempt to patch on myself but the audio still didn't sound right. Part of me suspects that the DAC in this cart isn't good. The Zelda one was originally too loud and had an overdriven quality. I had to use a normalizer script and brought it down to something like -35db.
      It would help me if you could give me an example of a set that should sound good out of the box.

      @@90sNick_Pinesal Looks like I never even removed the FX Pak Pro’s wrap! The older SD2SNES is just that good. :)
      IIRC, I got my FX Pak Pro on Black Friday 2021 and the board came marked “SD2SNES Mk.III Rev. B 2019-02-13 2009 - 2019 ikari_01.” I still see an inductor and capacitor that were added to a certain revision of SD2SNES to deal with interference issues on 1chip SNES consoles, so I expect to see it on yours too… but I don’t. This is probably a cost cutting move.
      I can barely see what looks like a Lattice logo on your board’s FPGA where mine uses an Altera Cyclone IV and the older SD2SNES uses Xilinx XC3S400. I googled and found an Open Source project called “SD2SNES-ECP5” where someone converted SD2SNES to use a Lattice ECP5 FPGA, but that chip doesn’t have the same Lattice “L” logo. Still, it means someone did the legwork to convert it to Lattice’s suite of FPGA tools so it’s likely that this is what yours is based on.
      I imagine they went with a different FPGA for cost reasons but it seems they are also doing something very different with the power regulation. Instead of buck converters I see multiple discrete voltage regulators on yours (U3, U4, U5, U6, U7). At least it appears to use proper level shifters to interface with the console (U101, U102). I don’t like that the solder mask doesn’t pull down past the edge of the contact pads since having it end on the thin traces promotes corrosion right where traces are thinnest.

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@90sNick_Pinesal I’m hoping they didn’t remove the audio amp or something. On my oldest SD2SNES (Rev e1b) I had to install the Borti4938 “SD2SNES revH” audio amp mod board to get correct audio levels. Unfortunately, it would not fit on any of these other variants.
      Because the earliest versions of the SD2SNES also lacked the audio amp, early MSU1 ROMs were often modified to have boosted audio levels. Have you tried one of the older MSU1 ROMs with boosted audio? They may have removed the audio amp to save cost and expect you to use those ROMs instead.
      That would be the best case scenario since the alternative is that they didn’t wire up the MSU1 stuff correctly at all and there is nothing that correctly supports whatever it’s doing for MSU1 audio.

      No, he has his own pick and place machines that he moved from Ukraine to Spain after the war broke out. Some very old Everdrives were made in China but they stole the designs from him and he learned his lesson about that. SD2SNES was never his design though, so China is making these from Ikari’s open source files… same as you or I could. Krikzz’s own Super Everdrive is an inferior device by all measures but he never had to make a better one since the SD2SNES already exists and is open source. It’s a win for everyone.

      @@90sNick_Pinesal No problem. Here’s a recap as I recall it:
      The main FPGA in the SD2SNES was no longer available so they revised it with a new, more powerful FPGA and called it SD2SNES “Pro.” The name was short lived because of issues with having “SD” in the name so they quickly changed it to FX Pak Pro. I don’t think there is a non-Pro FX Pak but if there is then it was just a way to sell old stock after the name changed.
      So, yeah, FX Pak Pro is equivalent to the very short lived “Pro” version of SD2SNES but not to the majority of SD2SNES carts (non-Pro). There isn’t a whole lot different (yet?) but the large FPGA means it doesn’t have to give up save states when replicating stuff like FX chip.
