A band completely in the zone... genius of Carlos Santana's playing!!!
OMGosh, the percussion section!!!!!!!!!
En los timbales Chepito Areas, como siempre bárbaro!!👍👍💖💖🎵🎵
Carlos knows he's got this in the bag...amazing!
Carlos Santana, and this ENTIRE guitar and music escapade. Jose Areas, and everybody. This sound, Carlos with the Yamaha, and this entire performance. You people shall, and will, consider this to be trademarked. Everybody in this band, this entire thing, is under copyright. Get that fact into your collective heads! There is nothing else like it.
Right off the top of this up tempo version. The lights are off. And you hear that sound of tone coming out of Carlos Santana and that Yamaha. And the lights come on. It's symbolic to what's actually happening. It's not like he actually strikes or hits the strings to make the notes come out. The sound out of the guitar just sort of magically appears out of the guitar just as the lights come on and Carlos Santana appears.
vamoo Chepito!!!

This sounds like the exact performance on the album, Moonflower...but the singer is different.
lessevdoolbretsim I didn't like this singer too, the version with Gregg Rolie singing is the one we like...
I was thinking the exact same thing, the music is pretty much identical note for note but the singing is different, each live version will always be slightly different even if they're days apart but this is uncanny, i wonder if they rerecorded the vocals back in the studio for the album

I like the singer on Moonflower best, Greg Walker, I think it is if memory serves.
Percussion Raul Rekow.
His playing lit a fire in me when I was young.
His name is chepito áreas
From Nicaragua. Raúl plays congas
This sounds like the performance from Moonflower, but obviously it's not Greg Walker. BMW on the double album is definitely Walker....
Wow, that's exactly what I just wrote.
@@lessevdoolbretsim This is a singer named Luther Rabb. On Moonflower Santana used performances from this tour but Greg Walker redid the vocals in the studio.

That explains it, because the guitar sounds identical.
Just simply ASTONISHING guitar work by the master!!!!

My father was a saxaphone player in the 70s. Santana reminds me of my father. Music for us was spiritual and we would drive around on Sundays listening to the greats as he quizzed me on the instrumentation of these bands. At 4:55, I tear up and float free as he holds that note until the percussion brings me back to earth with a controlled rage!
Santana at its BEST right here...no dought.
Carlos at the peak of his powers
No doubt about it.
