Years ago, I rode a bus from there to Orange County, which was not MTS, but didn't cost that much more. It was a regular between there and Newport Beach. Do you know if that is still operating?
I haven't heard of anything like this so I don't know if still exists. I just know that some people from Orange County who visit SeaWorld take the Surfliner to Old Town station but that is going to cost quite a bit more than a bus.
