- Scottie Pippen was more than just Michael Jordan's apprentice for the Chicago Bulls. Arguably the best perimeter defender of all time, Pippen was 10-time All-Defense and had two top 5 MVP finishes. Of course, Pippen won six championships with those legendary Chicago teams, but Nick notes Jordan's Bulls won zero playoff series and only one playoff game before Pippen arrived.

Hakeem, Kareem, Wilt, Wallace, Russell, Duncan, Rodman
Those guys are all better. Some guys where it's close:
Mutumbo, Eaton, Payton, Bryant, Garnett, Jordan
Pippen is no way #1, but likely towards the bottom of the top 10.

Im a huge jordan fan and the best gaurd ever no question but pippin is maybe the most underrated player ever i believe scottie could be the best player on a championship team if given the chance for his whole career. He could do everything pass score defend obviously.

The Bulls played defense and high scoring wasn't the priority in the 90s. Jordan without that 17pt player never won a playoff series and was swept in the 1st round a couple times. Pippen did more without Jordan than Jordan without Pippen.
He won a playoff series when Scottie was a rookie and not even averging 10 points in 1988. Yall have convinced yourselves that Scottie was an All star the minute he came into the nba

Pippen barely played his year with the bulls averaged 8 off the bench never started, next year averaged 14 started 56 games; 13 in the playoffs your gonna act like this is the reason Jordan won in the playoffs his first 2 years , stop the nonsense nick
This! Exactly this! Without Pippen becoming the player he became, the Bulls don't win their 6 titles, but those first couple years it was still basically Jordan alone.

It's not hating Pippen to point out that the first couple years Pippen wasn't *yet* the Pippen that helped Jordan win 6 titles. Pippen didn't explode out of the gates, he just didn't. But after those first couple years he was absolutely great.
