That letter was put in the box where the old man kept the things used for their magic tricks, just before he was killed by Miss. Du, the murderer. Or, the director forgot all about the letter.
There was literally a scene indicating that the letters are still in there and Jiang Xin was about to open it up but the second male lead stopped her. It might be that it will never be found again but it's still on the table!
