I too have been struggling with this approach of speaking of Zion as an afterlife. Growing up I always viewed it as a state of mind, a heaven on earth. I can’t know what the afterlife is.Or put a title on it. I can only put trust in the most high that we have a plan after this life and live this gift that is life.

Mutabaruka spent time to explain how the ideology of heaven/Zion is steeped in Christianity ethos and denounce that way of thinking, but would have been enlightening to hear his thoughts on the after earth life... if memory serves correct from a another philosophical reasoning of his, the matter returns to dust while living energy remains on earth.
