[MKWii TAS] Mega Mushroom Shortcuts

- This mushroom has quite a bit of use!
Quite a while ago I saw a video of a supergrind in combination with a Mega Mushroom where Funky reached about 200xyz speed
( • Mega Mushroom Supergri... ) Noxpro seems to be the first one that noticed this behaviour. It made me think that Mega Mushroom might have some potential for interesting shortcuts and strats.
So I began to test stuff and got some pretty cool results.
As the video says, this is done in VS Mode (150cc) against easy CPU with regular item settings. The most annoying thing is to actually get a Mega Mushroom each time but it seems to have the highest probability in 6th and 7th place. I have gathered these clips in a span of a couple months but now I'm pretty happy with how this video turned out. With the newly discovered supergrind potential for outside drift bikes, I was able to add some of those too. In my opinion, the rYF one was the hardest to achieve because the invisible walls can screw you pretty easily, it is also my favorite clip of the bunch :)
The speedometer at the bottom-right shows my current XYZ speed.
Shoutouts to Jellopuff who also recently discovered the rDKJP clip at 1:01:

Thank you for watching!
For those who are confused, using a Mega Mushroom allows Funky to travel at up to 200 speed for some reason.. This can only be achieved by using a supergrind or some form of rfh.
It scales it by the same rate as the mega mushroom’s size increase for each vehicle, corresponding to 210 kmh on spear
@@Nihonium_ALT stars don’t change your size so they don’t have the same property
@@campbellblock3061 so basically, you’re saying the bigger the vehicle, the faster it’ll be able to go?
@@lowercaseletters_ no, the more it scales the faster it will go. often, smaller vehicles scale more so it’s actually more logical to say the opposite
what about star with mega mushroom and spear funky? wouldent it be like 235 kmh?
The coolest montage I've seen in a while, awesome stuff!
2:58 the most cool scene I've ever seen in MKWii
Wow, some of these supergrinds are so broken exceeding 120 and even up to 180, it’s practically 200cc lol. Love how 2:51 syncs with the supergrind too!
every single one of your vids makes me want to get back to TASing this game, that rYF clip was sick
Do it. A lot of new stuff is going around.
that dkjp one made 0 sense but i love it
the first one is practically no ultra but you have to reverse to get the checkpoint, the second one is too but you barely hit all the ending key checkpoints
I like how the last shortcut goes out of the bounds and cuts the finish line
I know a few of these tricks may be impossible without TAS, but what caught my eye is the BC64 lava finish which MIGHT be doable with out TAS, however that's just my hypothesis. Could be impossible without TAS or not, but I'll try that out to see if it works with some weird combinations of characters and vehicals.
Can't wait to use some of these strats in my next WW!
Well, gl on that
Sick editing my man. Coulda called it "Big Funky Space Program" with how high some of these jumps are!
Very cool, your videos never disappoint
Now this is what I needed to wake up to :)
Incredible montage!!
Mega has always been such an interesting item, so cool to see you explore it more!
As I like to call some physics in this game,
Horizontal Walls: The Fine Art Of Flying Through Walls
Walclips: The Optical Illusion Of Hitting Walls To Moon Jump
None of these would really be practical, but damn, this montage is amazing to watch!
"So everything could theoretically be pulled off on console"
immediately starts off with rfb
now I wonder
can you do the mushroom gorge gap jump in a star?
interestung bro thats some amazing stuff
Those are really good ones! I wish I could do them
rDS was my favourite
oh, why that one?
@@MarthTAS The wallclip and roof hit :)
Everyday i learn something new
Damn such a cool video!
1:07 no proof no pen
Funkey kong: flying through prohibited areas.
Every Npc in the game: i quit
Finally something new!
Poor bowser he’s squashed in every other one
we all love this game
these are so cool
cracked
"everything could theoretically be done on console" immediately shows supergrinding
Console ≠ Humanly possible
I did the pog face as I saw that last clip unfold
That last one WOAH
Is this video suppose to be based off my original Mario Kart Wii name or something?
idk if you realised but mega mushrooms existed before you did
@@Kierio04 Which I’m glad it did so why do people keep calling me a mega mushroom like I was the one who invented the name
@@colin7244 your name was Colin the Mega mushroom 😐
@@MkwiiBen yes what about it?
@@colin7244 that’s why people called you a mega mushroom
AMAZING
Why is nobody talking about the 2:02 cannon entry!?!?
Insane
These strats and shortcuts were insane! Nice work.
holy fuck that's insane a 100% tas would is kinda nutty tbh
Funk
And I thought Lanky was supposed to be the one that inflates himself just like a balloon.
2:02 Moonwalk shortcut 😎
Its not Humanly possible to supergrind not only would you need to press the button multiple times per frame but you'd also need a controller fast enough to register every input which is currently impossible. Still a cool video.
holy shit the last one
Marth: this is possible on console
Also marth: uses tas
Thundercloud strat montage?
So cool
Thanks
Why would you kill bowser like that on dkjp
Make a video about what is humanly possible please
based song
かっこいい
stuff like this is why there will never be an optimized 32 track TAS
How do you super grind on WII?
it is not possible in real time
wow
whats the mega mushroom's normal speed modifier?
Mega mushroom changes vehicle speed to a 95 minimum, but they actually scale sg speed by the same amount as the size modifier stats of the vehicle for whatever reason
Yet another reason why a fully optimized 150cc 32 track TAS is near impossible 😔
Its literally going to have to take the efforts gone into a 120Star SM64 Tas
@@TheChilo61 probably even more than that considering how much new stuff is being found recently, on top of how much RNG and obscure tech there is in this janky ass game
@@Portentous__ Yea realized that after I already posted haha. The day will come but segmented bits would suffice
i'm not a TASser but i want to be
Me who always thought that the maximum speed you could travel on this game (without conveyor belts, water and canons) was 120: :/
Conveyer belts and water still limit you to 120. It is also possible to temporarily achieve slightly higher than 120 during a regular supergrind or going through a wall, but mega mushrooms scale maximum sg speed by the same amount as the size multiplier for whatever reason
@@campbellblock3061 why was 120 chosen as max speed by Nintendo? Does anyone know this?
And also, does that mean the bigger the vehicle while in a Mega, means that the faster the super grind will be?
@@lowercaseletters_ 1. Idk 2. Yes it seems to correspond exactly with the mega scale multiplier stat, giving spear a 1.75x increase to sg speed up to 210 kmh.
@@campbellblock3061 that’s cool. Thanks!
Imagine finishing 5th as a TAS smh
(this is a joke)
WHAT
nerf mega mushroom
how 200 xyz speed LOL
Wtf???
Its ilegal use the haks
