  • Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre) appeared on "The Interview Show," hosted by Mark Bazer, to talk music, her career, feminism and the upcoming Julie Ruin album -- along with interior design (including, of course, Santa Fe style), softball (including, of course, VH-1's team) and lots more.
(Filmed May 16, 2013, at Union Hall in Brooklyn.)
Next Interview Show is Aug. 2, at The Hideout, in Chicago. (www.theinterviewshowchicago.com)

Ah... the 90's. Kathleen Hanna, Bikini Kill, Riot Grrrl, Queercore...these are some of things that I vaguely remember through the alcoholic/narcotic fog. They were super important and helped me survive my own behavior. What those grrrls did then - and what many of them are still doing - continues to inspire me.

my mom met her once... Kathleen hanna was really really nice! In a punk club that was really small there were lots of moshpits and when kathleen hanna would perform she would tell all the boys to go to the back and all the girls to come to the front so that the girls wouldnt get stuck in the moshpits!

The 20 years seems accurate, Bikini Kill were around in the 90s, I'm 14 and just found them. I think feminism is definitely a valid point again nowadays, and I know of many other people my age through social media, and many others I know who call themselves feminists.

Why is feminism a valid point? It's a movement. What do you think the valid point is for the movement to move towards?

My search for what I thought was a friend named Joe Eckert is over, he was never a friend because you don't treat people the way he does, so I don't need anyone in my life that would do what he did to me. So GOOD BYE

He’s part of the problem Kathleen shouldn’t have to be interviewed by a chauvinist idiot like that. It should be a woman. He’s taking a job that a woman could have. No wonder Kathleen was just laughing at him.

This is unbearable. The sexist entitlement and bourgeois politics of Kathleen Hannah. It sounds like a religious invocation whenever she says "women".
