As a former fencer, I can confirm that what they're doing is very dangerous. The most important rule is that helmets and other safety gear have to stay on when sparring with someone. In actual fencing, you're also largely confined to linear movement, so no spins, lmao.
@hikeilokei I used to fence and as soon as I saw that they had skin exposed on their arms I could just imagine how bad the bruises would be. Also taking off the mask will make you lose an eye. I fenced epee not saber but I am pretty dang sure their form is also wrong.
Plus having both arms exposed is a big no no even if they kept the masks. While the blades are dull, even if you're just slicing at each other it's still metal and often has very sharp little nicks on them. I remember one time I was fencing foil and the other guy missed and sent the end of the foil way back where it dragged against my back hand and caused bleeding. I was a beginner so my hand shouldn't have been out enough to catch a stray but still demonstrates that even a dull blade can have sharp bits

So how Ben was able to become King at 16 is explained in the books (much to my rage and annoyance). In the first book, it says that per tradition, the eldest child of the royal family would take the throne at 16. Why this annoys me so much? I have never watched a single DCOM in my life, but I might watch the Descendants trilogy on my own just because of China Anne McClain. Thank you, HiKeiLoKei, for opening my eyes.
For the hairstylist thing, magic doesn't work in the isle. The anti magic caused by the barrier was the only thing keeping magic weilding villains like Maleficent on the isle
I’m sure someone has already mentioned it but the actors actually tried to convince Disney to make Harry and Gus gay but it was a no go. But they did do a take where they kissed (and yes there is proof of this kiss)
24:45 Mal did the same thing to Ben's last girlfriend. I don't feel bad for her at all. Plus, Uma did this to better everyone's lives, while Mal has a "fuck you, got mine" outlook on the world (spoilers for Descendants 3 I guess). I'm pro Uma all the way.
This is the most generally well liked movie of the franchise. Im partial to the first one personally but i can see why, i mean harry and uma alone are a saving grave
Wait magic can’t work on the isle of the lost so it makes sense for Mal to go to the hairdresser but the whole wand exchange is stupid considering Uma would have to come off of the island to see if it actually works
I think the wand itself is what makes magic not work on the island. Same way the wand in the last move could take down the force field around the island. So I think the wand is exempt to that rule.
Honored to be here this early. Surprising that Ben’s anger issues gave it away, I thought that was part of his core personality trait (but I also could be biased in that all I remember about Ben from the first movie recap was that one time he roared). Anyway, “what’s my name” slaps so hard. Only the real understand.
"Like, what the fuck are you gonna be printing that's 8 inches wide and 4 feet tall?" ☝️😃 "And please don't answer with Bad Dragon, because I already made that joke earlier in the video." ✊😐
I don’t think you understand just how goddamn funny ben jumping off the ship was to me, like uma jumps and becomes an octopus, mal jumps and becomes a dragon, ben just f-in jumped 💀
I think Mal got Dizzy (Drizzy?) to do her hair for her because magic spells don’t work in the Isle of the Lost, or at least, it didn’t in the first movie.
One thing that annoys me about this movie is the fact that *EVERYONE* is dressed like a pirate. I get when Harry is dressed like a pirate, & Gil to some extent because he strikes me as the dumb little brother type, but why is everyone else? More specifically why *Uma* ? What does Ursula have to do with pirates? Give me a thousand tries & I would NEVER guess that Uma was supposed to be Ursula’s daughter.
I mean, Uma is captain of a whole pirate crew so it would makes sense to why she would dress like one. She founded the pirate crew with Harry, competing against him for the ship that's seen in the movie. She pretty much adapts to the whole pirate thing and makes it her own.
Nah I think Uma being a pirate makes sense. I mean, if we just bite the bullet and say "okay, all these evil monsters had human children," then uma being ursula's daughter makes more sense than a lot of alternatives. And considering Ursula is a sea based villain, her daughter being a pirate also makes sense. And this is also all ignoring that she has the conch shell necklace and turns into an octopus at the end. Uma being ursula's daughter makes plenty of sense, is established right away, and her being a pirate fits thematically
I think Ursula made the best of a bad situation. She's presumably one of the most high ranking people down in the docks and her daughter acquired parts of their culture. In the books the pirate kids have their own school separate from the one Mal and most of the rest went to before leaving the island. The isle has a hell of an interesting lore/culture. Aurodon is so watered down, dull, and silly in comparison. It's a shame.
fun fact in case you weren't aware, uma and mal had a homoerotically psychosexually charged partners in crimes to enemies/ambiguously dating relationship in the source material. the books actually take place before the first movie and are considerably darker and more insane. great video as always!!
Ben: come home Mal: I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be- Ben: -gonna let the light shine on me! Both: now I found who I am there’s no way to hold it in
the poor unfortunate souls song at the end of the soundtrack is Ursula's villain song in the little mermaid, so I think is very funny that you say that you hate it because it is considered one of the more popular villain songs 😭
That's wild because I have seen The Little Mermaid, I just didn't even realize that was supposed to be a remix of that because its so... bad. The orignal song is 10/10 but the remix s one of the worst DCOM songs I've heard thus far.
What’s funny to me is how the movies retcons/forgets its own rules sometimes. There’s a literal rule where magic can’t be used on the island. That’s why Mal didn’t magic change her hair, YET why would Uma think the magic wand would work on an anti magic island???
I still hold on to my opinion that I personally think Descendants 2 is the best of the trilogy. I was honestly super engaged to the story, I really liked the songs and it was honestly very pleasing visually. I fell in love with Mal's dress after she turned back from a dragon (even though I don't understand how that happened but she looked cool so I'm letting it slide) I also really loved Jay's big brother relationship with Mal when he offered to take her back to the island if she wanted. I kinda felt like the movie had kind of a darker tone compared to the first one which I found interesting.
Ok but as someone who was forced to watch these as a child by his sister, I genuinely love and agree everything you've been saying about these movies. But I will also say that 3 kind of slaps and is by far my favorite of the 3. None of them are GREAT but 3 is definitely better. Can't wait to see it!
In the books it’s actually explained that the fencing that they do isn’t actually fencing, but rather a sport called R.O.A.R(forgot for what it stands) and which is basically a mix of fencing and parkour
I've noticed that the second and third movie both have incrementally more songs than the one prior to it, and when you get to Descendants 3 it's really noticeable how much the songs no longer uphold the plot and rather drag it out and make simple scenes unnecessarily dramatic. I usually view songs in these sorts of dcoms as a way to highlight a scene or climactic moment, but that is just thrown at the window in D3.
Funny enough, in the behind the scenes of the film, the actors all say they learnt fencing for the movie. Someone was hired to teach them months before filming
14:42 I love how your opinion completely flipped from descendants 1 to descendants 2 on Cameron Boyce and boo boo Stuarts singing. Descendants 1 you said that they were the weak point of the songs they were in and then descendants 2 you said they were the best part you wish they were featured more, I absolutely love it!!
20:15 He is restrained. And also, as Mal said in the first film, no one born on the Isle knows how to swim. So maybe the idea of Ben being able to swim at all completely slipped their mind.
Hors d'œuvre is pronounced "Or duh-vr". It means appetizers, usually they're "homemade" (put nicely by someone, though you can buy them already prepared). I don't think tossing a few tomatoes and baby carrots in a bowl can be considered a hors d'œuvre, but you have to make multiple tiny dishes or tiny sandwiches.
and also there are many things that are supposedly done like : salty pastry, little shot glasses (usually with salmon), some tiny sandwiches and canapés (many things on a single layer of biscuit or bread, these are unusually very "high society"
This movie could have been better, only if disney had the balls to make Evie and Mal a couple and let Ben end with Uma, literally he talked more with Uma that he talked with Mal when they met. C H A N G E M Y M I N D
I remember exactly what was happening when I first saw this movie when it came out. I was at a hotel prepping for a vacation that I am actually going on again tomorrow. My parents called me to the food lounge and I was upset I couldn’t watch the beginning. There was a tv in the food lounge and it was playing the movie. The next day the movie was on again in the morning so I got to see it all the way through.
well ironically enough, my list of "things I would 3d print if I had a printer & knew what I was doing" includes: replica knives, custom length/shape dowel bases for LARP weaponry, a model of The Colt from supernatural, articulated wolverine claws, articulated monster claws (the kind you wear on your fingers), costume horns, and armatures for my fabric sculptures. "What can you print on a 3d printer that's 8" wide and 4' tall?" ....quite a lot, actually
I keep thinking that Jafars son is actually Warren Peace from Sky High. ( even though chronologically this makes no sense) Cruella being abusive to her child makes perfect sense, one of the few things about this that does. I guess I’m too logical and have too much Disney brain to think most of this makes sense, at least as far as some of the villains and heck some of the heroes having kids. Like can we take a minute and have an in depth discussion on how weird it is to have Dopey have a son??? It makes me shudder imagining that. I also mentioned this in a reply comment and maybe the book explains this or following sequels but ummm Gaston having only one son? And with who? Make it make sense 😂
IMO I rank the Descendants films (from highest to lowest) like this: -D2 -D1 -D3 *No, I didn't watch that animated series or any shorts from the franchise.
i can think of a certain cheerleader who would have really liked that blonde hair spell at the beginning of her movie. im just sayin - if werewolves, zombies and aliens are in their universe- theres gotta be a witch like that crone from Brave? nobody check on her?
“Why does she now need a hair stylist?” Actually that one makes sense, there isn’t any magic on the isle. But also that’s the reasons why Uma asking them to use the Wand while they were still in the Isle dumb, even if it was real they couldn’t of used it.
Hikeilokei: there’s no indication that there’s sharks in the water Uma: I’ll let him swim with killer sharks Edit: In the book Cruella still has her red car from the 101D movie and Carlos regularly drives it so I guess jay could learn to drive
ngl I liked the second movie better as a kid but I think thats mostly cause its more visually entertaining and also looking back, I was totally in love with Uma cause damnnnn the gay panic is real
Id like to argue the reason Mal went to Dizzy's to get her hair done is cuz she is good now and thats like supporting a small business, and you can argue Evil grandma would prolly have a big salon, but its her granddaughter, so yeah it is a small business
Feels like a waste to have a plot with Ursula's daughter, who's whole deal is makin magic deals, and Mal being discontent with her life and not having Mal make some kind of disasterous deal with Uma. Like ffs Shrek Forever After this shit! Mal goes to Uma asking for a day of being able to be bad and Uma grants it, only to reveal that in order to supply this Uma used magic to make it so that she was in Mal's place during Descendants 1. You can reuse a song or two but now with China Anne McClain instead of Mal, lije have fun with it.
Its wild being a fan of descendants because i fully read two of the books where having this knowledge is insane what do you mean mal and ben are psychically connected What do you mean Yen Sid has a secret underground school to rehabilitate villain kids to be good children

I have never watched a single DCOM in my life, but I might watch the Descendants trilogy on my own just because of China Anne McClain. Thank you, HiKeiLoKei, for opening my eyes.
She is EXCELLENT
For the hairstylist thing, magic doesn't work in the isle. The anti magic caused by the barrier was the only thing keeping magic weilding villains like Maleficent on the isle
As a former fencer I can confirm that what they were doing is in fact very dangerous.
As a native French and English speaker, your pronunciation of "Hors d'oeuvres" had me laughing so bad 😂😂❤
@@Zvwry I was always confused as hell about that plot line- it actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it that way, thanks!
@@PhilFromhec no problem 💋
Harry Hook is built to be attractive in every way for this movie and i swear by this
Honored to be here this early. Surprising that Ben’s anger issues gave it away, I thought that was part of his core personality trait (but I also could be biased in that all I remember about Ben from the first movie recap was that one time he roared). Anyway, “what’s my name” slaps so hard. Only the real understand.
God I'm such a sucker for these stupid Descendants movies, I know they're so bad but I love their stupidity so much.
Also great video bro :D
"Like, what the fuck are you gonna be printing that's 8 inches wide and 4 feet tall?"
☝️😃
"And please don't answer with Bad Dragon, because I already made that joke earlier in the video."

ive never seen this movie but something about uma is just soooo iconic and legendary to me i think its because she wears blue and is sea/pirate themed
Descendants 2 feels like a palate cleanser after the Zombies movies
Now I can just imagine Thanos saying “you didn't think that was the end of the story.”
11:11 its pronounsed “Horse Divorce”
@@dancingsun2 Where is all the info coming from ?
@@nixuniverse5240 it's in the books, rise of the isle of the lost i believe
I think Ursula made the best of a bad situation. She's presumably one of the most high ranking people down in the docks and her daughter acquired parts of their culture. In the books the pirate kids have their own school separate from the one Mal and most of the rest went to before leaving the island. The isle has a hell of an interesting lore/culture. Aurodon is so watered down, dull, and silly in comparison. It's a shame.
12:34-I totally understand that reference and that only makes the "Descendants" franchise feel more "Marvel-esque" to me.
The way harry hook… the way he.. you know.
fun fact in case you weren't aware, uma and mal had a homoerotically psychosexually charged partners in crimes to enemies/ambiguously dating relationship in the source material. the books actually take place before the first movie and are considerably darker and more insane. great video as always!!
Harry and Jay, my favorite Bisexual Boyfriends.

UR SO BASED FOR THAT
Ben: come home
Mal: I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be-
Ben: -gonna let the light shine on me!
Good to know we're all crushing on hook's son
What’s funny to me is how the movies retcons/forgets its own rules sometimes. There’s a literal rule where magic can’t be used on the island. That’s why Mal didn’t magic change her hair, YET why would Uma think the magic wand would work on an anti magic island???
I think the magic wand is the source of the magic barrier and therefore would work
That “fencing” scene was worse than the one in miraculous ladybug where they ended up on the railing and in the library 😅
I kinda felt like the movie had kind of a darker tone compared to the first one which I found interesting.
me personally if i was a pirate i wouldn't waste my time with royalty, i would steal something good, like takis
i watched your descendants review yesterday and went "i hope he reviews the rest of the trilogy too." this is fate. god heard my prayers.
I don’t think you have to be a fencing expert to know that’s not how it works
Harry and Jay are exes, Ben and Harry fell in love on that boat. Can’t convince me otherwise.

Love these videos!! Perfectly entertaining for me to stay focused on! :D
Glad you like them!
I fenced for 3 years in High School and that entire fencing scene is simply nonsensical, none of the writers ever fenced or saw fencing before
Funny enough, in the behind the scenes of the film, the actors all say they learnt fencing for the movie. Someone was hired to teach them months before filming
Saying that "whats my name" wasnt a banger should be a criminal offense
14:42 I love how your opinion completely flipped from descendants 1 to descendants 2 on Cameron Boyce and boo boo Stuarts singing. Descendants 1 you said that they were the weak point of the songs they were in and then descendants 2 you said they were the best part you wish they were featured more, I absolutely love it!!

She had to get a haircut because the isle doesn't allow people to use their magic
@@erialc19 Exactly 👍🏼👍🏼
This movie could have been better, only if disney had the balls to make Evie and Mal a couple and let Ben end with Uma, literally he talked more with Uma that he talked with Mal when they met.

Bro fr. Ben and Mal have **zero** chemistry. Literally every other friendship/romance in this movie had more chemistry behind it.
In the song they did actually mention killer sharks. I don't know how Harry survived though.

I can't take Uma as a character seriously, because "uma" means "horse" in Japanese lol
Fun fact: Doug is the dancer from Zapped that does the chanting (Chad is also in Zapped as well)
I remember exactly what was happening when I first saw this movie when it came out.
Make it make sense 😂
fun fact gill and harry were supposed to kiss in the final version of the movie but it was cut, its still in the novelization though
IMO I rank the Descendants films (from highest to lowest) like this:
-D2
-D1
-D3
*No, I didn't watch that animated series or any shorts from the franchise.

“Why does she now need a hair stylist?” Actually that one makes sense, there isn’t any magic on the isle. But also that’s the reasons why Uma asking them to use the Wand while they were still in the Isle dumb, even if it was real they couldn’t of used it.
3:27 gotta be made into a GIF NOW. I need it. I need it so bad.
20:18 In ‘its goin down’ uma has a line that states “Ill throw him over board and let him swim with killer sharks” so id say thats pretty deadly.
Hikeilokei: there’s no indication that there’s sharks in the water
Uma: I’ll let him swim with killer sharks
Edit: In the book Cruella still has her red car from the 101D movie and Carlos regularly drives it so I guess jay could learn to drive
I scrolled so long just to see if anyone else noticed that lmao
Fun fact: they're playing R.O.A.R., which is a mix of fencing and parkour from the books. Take from that what you will
I'll be the Fencer in the comments, and yah. I love descendants, but the fencing scene makes me pull out my hair when I watch it lol
ngl I liked the second movie better as a kid but I think thats mostly cause its more visually entertaining and also looking back, I was totally in love with Uma cause damnnnn the gay panic is real
Id like to argue the reason Mal went to Dizzy's to get her hair done is cuz she is good now and thats like supporting a small business, and you can argue Evil grandma would prolly have a big salon, but its her granddaughter, so yeah it is a small business
20:13 To be fair, his hands and feet are tied, so unless he figures out how to flip onto his back staying afloat would be harder
Its wild being a fan of descendants because i fully read two of the books where having this knowledge is insane
