I finally visited the Bon Accord in Glasgow after watching Ralfy's vids for 4 years. Amazing whisky pub and I was looking around to see if Ralfy was there.
I'm so excited about Rosebank being reopened by GlenGoyne...!!! And sir! Watching your reviews and learning from you is one of my favorite pastimes. I'd love to see a review on The Glenlivet Solera Vetted or Laphroaig Triple Wood...
It's all what I love in whisky, high prices and playing with the offer/demand, a chance of speculating etc etc... I won't get one bottle of it but at least 20. Cheers!
Great video :) I would like to hear if you have any plans to review some rum soon again Ralfy? it would be fun to see reviews of maybe the new Foursquare rums ;) If not so keep the whisky videos coming or some other neat spirit!
Would ya mind helpin out sir? Im Intrested in one of two bottles. Talisker 18 or Glencadam 15. Talisker 10 and Oban 14 are 2 of my favorites. I thought because i have to decide on only one, you could help me decide. Thanks for all videos.
recently I was passing by the liquor isle in Tesco and spontaneously decided to buy small bottle. I've never had it before and I was positively surprised how good it is for 10yo!
Hi Ralfy! Id be interested in a re-review of Te Bheag Blend if you were to feel so inclined, Sir. You turned me on to it a few months back when I found your review from several years ago. Lo and behold i found a little liquor store by me that regularly has a stash and its a favorite of mine. Would be interested in whether you feel its as good as it was back when. Thank you as always for the best whisky reviews out there ! Ahem...it occurs to me a bit late that perbaps this falls within the category of NAS.....my apologies.
Out of the three closed distilleries being revived, Brora is the only one I'm interested in as the old distillery is mostly intact. Plus if prefer Brora to Port Ellen and Rosebank.
Impossible to get Laphroaig 10 CS in the UK without getting the ferry up to the distillery itself, and it pisses me right off. I've had to go IB for my CS age statement Froggy fix!
I know right... at least you can reach the distillery hahhaha. From the Netherlands, where I live, I can only get a bottle via forums of whiskybase for a major price leap since the website sells out like hotcakes.
Ralfy, when I hear about the resurrection of distilleries like Rosebank, Brora, Port Ellen, etc., I'm conflicted. Although offering new bottlings can reach a wider clientele, restarting these distilleries eliminates some mystique - what if Ferrari decided to build the Daytona again? If the owners stay true to the history, signature, and originality of the distillery, then fine. If not (and especially if they position their bottlings at a high price point, taking advantage of auction/secondary prices), then it's just a money grab. I'm a bit skeptical...
Someone once said, "Ralfy is a good actor": too one of my comments. Until I watched this video and looked at the whiskey level in the glass and in the bottle, I wasn't sure why it was said" !!! Ralfy You are a GREAT act!! Along with a GREAT Source for whiskey quality. I had until this video believed you were a great boozer!!! with all the respect, that can be conjured by that description. I don't anymore! I believe - you are a great source of knowledge - and not an inspiration for drinking whiskey. You RALFY have earned my great respect. GOD Love You!!
Ralfy: Slightly different subject, but it would be worthwhile to review Henry McKenna Bottled in Bond Bourbon by Heaven Hill. It carries a ten year old age statement!
That Rosebank is over £350 online, it's out of my price range unfortunately. Im just starting my whisky journey though so I have a lot of other options :-) Great episode Ralfy, thank you.
To be honest I stop into obscure liquor retailers all the time and find things out of bottling for years that nobody even knew was good. Keep looking! It's a hobby, not a race.
Ralphy's brother Clive tasted some methylated spirits on camera a while back over on his channel. The results were, well, predictable. Edit here is the link: ruclips.net/video/ep2I3Gf3Sec/видео.html Here is the link:
I'm going to ask this even though I think I already know the answer. Have you ever considered reviewing vodkas? I know you have reviewed other spirits beside whisky in the past.
I hope that you're right as the still size and shape is so important to the product. But this article states that the stills and washback were stolen: scotchwhisky.com/magazine/in-depth/16413/bringing-rosebank-back-to-life/
. . . Diageo had good security at Rosebank, cameras and locked gates e.t.c. that incident is shrouded in mystery as 'theft' was a good cover story for the stills being removed. The notion that thieves would spend hours cutting stills into removable pieces with oxyacetaline burners for 'scrap value' is bullshit. The retail scrap price of copper had just collapsed before the stills 'disappeared'. Theft would not have been profitable, . . . depending on the customer.
Ralfy, Seriously, how can you promote smell and taste when you are surrounded by increasing amounts of mould on the walls of your bothy? If it were in Calgary, I fear it would be condemned by health and safety.
From what I remember, bothies often have a lime based wash covering the walls. The purpose is to kill off any mold or mildew. So what may look like mold is probably actually oxidized limestone-based wash. If the area is damp, like the Isle of Man, it happens faster.
Ralfy, you need to join the modern world..... people don’t have a passion for what they do these days....everybody is just passing through. Nobody stays at one company for 30 years and retires. Kids these days are expected to change jobs every three to four years. You learn what you have to, then fluff your resume and move on. Fossils like you and I who stayed at one place forever aren’t appreciated nor wanted. This is a fast paced, what’s the next new thing, get out of my way world. People don’t have time to stop and smell the roses or Scotch. 😏😢. And THAT, my good SIr, is why this is a genuinely screwed up world.........show me the money and to hell with the rest of it.......sad!
Great point good sir. I'm a farmer on another man's land, and I hope to own land myself one day. I'll stay put, you can bet your ar$e. God bless you for dedicating your years to one company. I hope they treat (or treated) you well. Also, I think you meant to say "stop and smell the Rosebank!"
I'd like to add, don't make assumptions. I'd have liked to stay at several jobs but been pushed out after 3 years, and I'm not the only one. Plenty of places have no interest in keeping anybody around and just push people until they leave.
Why? Not all information needs to be shared. People don't have a right to commercially sensitive information. An NDA lets people who need-to-know know, without leaking the information to those who don't. I suspect you have never run a business.

Admiral Holdo my beer aka Assume Room Temperature cheers c[_]
Always good to hear mention of the Armstrongs.
Loving these extras vlogs, and this one’s particularly good. Keep the coming ralfy
That's the best "malt mention" I can recall. At least it makes sense, rather than randomly rythming.
I'm so excited about Rosebank being reopened by GlenGoyne...!!!
And sir! Watching your reviews and learning from you is one of my favorite pastimes. I'd love to see a review on The Glenlivet Solera Vetted or Laphroaig Triple Wood...
. . . I hope the prices won't be too 'adventurous', but I hope the malt will be !
It's all what I love in whisky, high prices and playing with the offer/demand, a chance of speculating etc etc... I won't get one bottle of it but at least 20. Cheers!
Edradour is adorable. Happy to hear it is Glengoyne folks reopening Rosebank. It will be successful.
Great video :)

Hey Ralfy!

Thnx
. . . no, Ben Nevis have done this, and Cardhu too.
Happy World Whisky Day dear Sir and fellow maltmates, from here in the US! Hope you are getting a chance to enjoy it!
Infotaining as usual, yes indeedy!
Would ya mind helpin out sir? Im Intrested in one of two bottles. Talisker 18 or Glencadam 15. Talisker 10 and Oban 14 are 2 of my favorites. I thought because i have to decide on only one, you could help me decide. Thanks for all videos.
. . . both good, for me 'cadam 15yo
ralfydotcom ok, ill let ya know what i think when it arrives. Thank you.
Talisker will chill-filter and artificially color....you can guess where I'd be headed.
Ralfy we need a Glenmorangie 10yo re-review. Its been long overdue.
. . . you mind-reader !
Yes, right after a Banff, a Glenury-Royal, a Glen Mhor, and a North Port Brechin review ..... damn, thats a lot of tasting to come !
recently I was passing by the liquor isle in Tesco and spontaneously decided to buy small bottle. I've never had it before and I was positively surprised how good it is for 10yo!
I was literally about to type this! Damn you! :|
Ah! I don't know how I missed this video and my malt mention getting mentioned! Yes, hello, all you Methanol Metabolizing Machines!
Hi Ralfy, why You never mention Ailsa bay?
. . . it's not got an age statement yet.
Great youtube channel you have Ralfy! greetings from Australia! Have you reviewed Chivas Extra yet?
. . . not yet !
Hi Ralfy! Id be interested in a re-review of Te Bheag Blend if you were to feel so inclined, Sir. You turned me on to it a few months back when I found your review from several years ago. . . . still good after all these years.
Mister Malt Maniac Mentioning Most Memorable Merchandise to Malthead Minions
That was a cool malt mention :)
Out of the three closed distilleries being revived, Brora is the only one I'm interested in as the old distillery is mostly intact. Plus if prefer Brora to Port Ellen and Rosebank.
conor strang but isn't Clynelish a Brora copy? So, is there need for a second one?
"There can be only one, *Lowlander* !" ...meh...doesn't quite work. XD
That’s what it is: “ infotaining “ :)
I'd live to see a review of Laphroaig 10 cask strength or Lagavulin 12. Last time you reviewed those was 9-ish years ago.
Yeah I haven't even bothered trying to look out for it on the secondary markets, I wouldn't pay the price they'd ask for it.
I was wondering-Burns or Joyce?
It makes you wonder, which are today's underrated or, perhaps, taken for granted distilleries that will be iconized in 20 years?
Landrum45 I'm thinking Craighellachie. Lovely stuff. Try the 13 y.o. Great price great dram.

Hello mr Malteaser,
The politics of alcohol taxation needs a kick in venals.

That Rosebank is over £350 online, it's out of my price range unfortunately. Im just starting my whisky journey though so I have a lot of other options :-)
Great episode Ralfy, thank you.
. . . thats too expensive, even for me, best to go for others like Glencadam and Deanston.
Not all good buy opportunities are online. Keep watching for it!
To be honest I stop into obscure liquor retailers all the time and find things out of bottling for years that nobody even knew was good. Keep looking! It's a hobby, not a race.
Don't drink methanol kids

Indeed, it's for machines, not people :-)
Hello malty malt meta malt mentioners.
Is that a cricket I'm hearing?
Gøad it's Glengoyne taking it over.
I'm going to ask this even though I think I already know the answer. Have you ever considered reviewing vodkas? I know you have reviewed other spirits beside whisky in the past.
. . . I have been meaning to do a vod-vlog for sometime, but never got round to it, so hopefully later this year.
ralfydotcom I understand. Well if you get around to it I will definitely watch it. Keep up the great work!
Weren't the Rosebank stills stolen by metal thieves?
. . . no, that is an industry rumour.
I hope that you're right as the still size and shape is so important to the product. But this article states that the stills and washback were stolen:

Many merry malt mercenaires.. have you heard that one?
. . . now on the M-mention List, thanks !

Daniel Brown Useful information. Thanks for sharing! :)
. . . it's not mould, it's patina !
no its mildew. Its growth is probably enhanced by Whisky fumes and Ralfy breath.
and indeed Patina

Alfonce Jean hitting the bottle early today eh?
