  • This is a short documentary I edited for Faraja Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania.
It was filmed by the children of the orphanage and my friend Audrey Hickey, whom is responsible for much of the fundraising and initiatives for the orphanage.
Faraja Orphanage provides shelter, food, care, and a loving family to over 200 neglected children in Arusha. In 2012, the goal was sustainability. With the support of family and friends, they were able to build a chicken coop and cow stable at the orphanage that promotes self-reliance, provides extra food, and a stable income for the children and staff. This year, the goal is education. They have only three teachers for 200 kids of all ages and lack an appropriate space and educational resources to teach these kids. With help, volunteers can provide an amazing educational institution for these children. The goal is to build a new school which can provide the kids with the opportunity to learn, prepare for and succeed in either the pursuit of higher education or the workplace. The children will be taught both English and Swahili and study language, science, math, history, recreation and technology.
Every child deserves an education, but especially the children of Faraja Orphanage Children's Home. Let's make it happen together!
