Parole can be denied, and while it's not guaranteed, it can definitely be the case she spends the rest of her natural life in prison. Because she is 17, sentences like life imprisonment without the eligibility of parole (or the death penalty) are not ordered by judges because it would violate the 8th Amendment prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. The US Supreme Court has routinely upheld that legal children are incapable of receiving the worst legal punishments permissible (life without parole and DP) regardless of how evil or nasty the crime was. Trial court judges therefore are very cautious to avoid getting the case appealed or mistrialed and give out a vague punishment like "15 years to life" to "punt" the decision to keep her in prison forever to the parole board. Judges are under more 8th Amendment scrutiny than parole board members since only judges can dole out an official sentence of life w/o parole or death. It's a procedural wrinkle to avoid having children sent to the electric chair (in states that would allow the death penalty) while still allowing parole board members to extend a non-life-sentence into an effective life sentence. It's very likely the parole board will just keep her in prison when that determination needs to be made. Just not guaranteed.

I'm not sure how it works in the UK (I'd be interested in knowing), but I NEVER understood why crimes like this run "Concurrently" instead of "Consecutively". She killed 2 people, got 15 years to life for EACH case, yet because she serves concurrently, she gets to serve both sentences at the same time? That's like giving her 7.5 years for each murder... If she killed 100 people would it also run concurrent and only have to do 15 years? This whole "Running current" makes NO sense to me, never has. If you kill 2 people the time you do should be double than if you killed one. SEEMS to be common sense!

The last girl, Rachel Shoaf, had the audacity to spend time with Skylar's parents. It wasn't yet known that she was one of the murderers, and she "wanted to comfort them" for the loss of their only child. If that isn't cold blooded, I don't know what is.
It was actually Shelia Eddy who ingratiated herself into Skylar's family. Shoaf was so tormented by what she did that she had a full on nervous breakdown and was hospitalized. When they released her from the hospital she went and confessed. She's still a murderer, and she belongs in prison, but I actually do believe she feels remorse. Shelia is a different story. Just a totally evil person.
Sharilla case is so brutal. There's a video you could react to that shows the boyfriend's parents being informed of his death. It's something to see. Just so sad.

Yes, if the Judge would have had the sentences run consecutively instead of concurrently, she would not be eligible for parole for 30 years, but since the Judge handed down concurrently, she will be eligible for parole in 15 years. I personally think that she should have been handed 25 years to be served consecutively. let her think about what she done for 50 years instead of 15.

I stopped and took pictures of the hole in the wall and all the police and emergency vehicles, and sent them to my friends, asking how someone could miss the turn from Progress onto to Alameda and go through the brick wall of that building. Only later found out that she did it on purpose.
I had major problems with addictions. Ended up with a 33 year sentence- no early outs. [ 2 years later, turns out my sentence, and MANY MANYothers were illegal. , so we were all sentenced again. I did a total of 12 years (but it took a Lawsuit against the State Supreme Court by another inmate)]. Nevertheless, I took my punishment, and that time to get myself untangled, and right. I got out in 2008. I own a home, paid off a mortgage, started a small business, and have a ministry to Africa. 📻😁

Kids tend to be sentenced differently because of their age. It also falls under the special victims unit. They handle stuff like that all the time. The police tend to watch these kids very carefully over their life. With therapy barring major issues they could be rehabilitated into something useful.

Some states don't have the death penalty or life in prison. Some people do end up becoming a better person while in prison. One of the reasons for a prison is a place for rehab.
They're not crying and getting emotional because of what they did, they're getting emotional because they got caught in are now facing consequences, because they're self-entitled petulant little children.
Kids see things on tv and in their video games all the time. Many are often also used to getting whatever they want..and can’t handle not doing so. I believe that is a big part of it.

"Provided the gun belongs to the parents, or was bought by them for the child." I've watch many of these cases go beyond the guilty person, to detailed investigations of the parents. I wish I could understand why some people are capable of taking a life, especially young teenagers. Is murder so normalised in today's society that they barely think twice about it? Is it a mental health thing?...whatever it is, I'll still be struggling to get my head around it.

These kind of people have always existed, but now there's so much media, social, news, etc, that even when it happens across the world, we hear about it. Also, there's a lot of "dark" media out there as well. But I do agree that courts/the law is too lenient, but sometimes it's not the fault of judges, they may be handing down max sentences as allowed by law. It's the lawmakers that need to adjust the max sentences for crimes.
Why are you so surprised that kids could do these things. Look what their parents and grandparents and great grandparents did for hundreds of years just to take lands from people. This is bloodline this is who these people are!
The first girl was happy and partying in her wheelchair as soon as she got out of hospital the pics were horrible. Her mothers impact statement was awful too the judge interrupted her to comment. Aidan Fucci mother was charged with tampering with evidence she washed his blood stained clothes after he unalived Tristyn. I think she got 30 days jail. Unfortunately Tristyn was found Mothers Day! 15 years what a joke.
