Lord forgive me if I say pastor bong is my favorite but I know it's wrong because everyone is the same in your eyes. Every time I watch the church service of CCF online, I learned so much more and I thank our Lord for using these people and this church to help me understand Your Word easily and comprehensively.
Pastor Bong I have a question, but let me first give you the background.
I was the first born again Christian convert in my family back in 2011 and since then I had been sharing the Word of God to family and showed my best self for the sake of the gospel and for the glory of our Lord. I tried discipling them and I always respected their decisions. It was a terrible struggle from the start and the going. I was hurt and insulted many times but I kept it all to my self and just surrendered it all to God. It is more painful when any one in your family would hurt you. Right? That's how deep the pain was.
Last year, we had an awful argument among siblings and they literally attacked me bringing up accusations that I never could imagine my very own family would do to me. I saw clearly that there were vested interest, selfishness, and belittlement. Then, I lost it all because I talked back at them in the same ungodly manner as they did. It must have overflowed deep inside me all the pain that piled up over 11 years.
As Christian, I immediately humbled myself before them and asked their forgiveness. There were no response from them until now. I also asked God for forgiveness and asked His help to intervene with me from talking back at them again in any given chances in the future.
From that time on, I kept my distance to my family. I just need a breather from the pain. I always pray for my family every single night that one day we will be like minded, like hearted and like Chirst.
Pastor Bong,
is it wrong to keep my distance to my family to get away from pain for time being?
Is it wrong to unfriend them on facebook anyway I still have all their contacts in my messenger?
My faith is really shaken Pastor bong at that time. I was questioning my faith or do I have enough faith to be called a Christian. I was agonizing what forgiveness really is. So, I went back to His Word and sought healing, wisdom and understanding.
Then, His Word just came into my heart and gave me comfort.
In Luke 17:3-4. Lines that struck me are:
"If they REPENT, forgive them"
"seven times in a day and seven times COME back TO you saying 'I repent,' you must forgive them.”
From this verse, I learned that the word "forgiveness" is NOT proactively given. Forgiveness is only a RESPONSE to an offender who REPENT and who COME TO YOU.
Just a disclaimer, we Christians have to be quick in asking for forgiveness, quick to be admitting mistakes, and also be willing to forgive even if it is against our will.
However, if they don't REPENT and COME TO YOU, though we are so willing to forgive, we CANNOT just release forgiveness to them without being asked of as per the Word of God.
I also see this verse as a protection for Christians from falsehood, abuse and being taken advantage.
His Word cannot be against His Word.
Another verses that came into my heart and had given more comfort are these:.
"If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet." - Matthew 10:14
"Bad company corrupts good character" - 1 Corinthians 15:33
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's foes will be members of one's own household” - Matthew 10:34-36
When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai to receive the tablet from the LORD, Moses used the sword to separate those who were for the Lord and those who were not. It was brothers against brothers, sisters against sisters, and family against family.
My point here is that we may push harder to get our loved ones to be in the LORD but at the end of the day, we only answer for our own. We hear beautiful testimonies but we shouldn't feel bad or have regrets not having done so much when our efforts turn out unsuccessful and we could not give the same beautiful testimonies as theirs.
There are these super Christians who seem to question your frustrations, disappointments or pain implying that you have lesser faith to even feel that way. As if they put you down for not being strong for the Lord.
I think when a Christian gives advice, there should be sincere comfort and actual help otherwise without these, this advice is only for showing off and claiming as if they are a way better Christians than anyone else.
I know Jesus wept. So, I know my Lord values my pain and tears.
I may be distant to my family now but my prayers will not cease for them.
Only to Your Glory Lord.

Yes do not let the problems consume you, always pray to God all your burdens and He will fix your marriage..keep trusting GOD..I HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE..ALL VICES MY HUSBAND HAS..BUT I KEEP PRAYING AND STAY WITH HIM UNTIL NOW 33 YRS..God really help us. My hubby slowly changed for the good of our life and relationship to our God..almost always God answered my prayers..to GOD BE THE GLORY.

Brother try to cry out to God for help and be consistent to it. As he says ask and it will be given, do not be anxious about but in every by prayer, supplication, and thanks giving let your request be known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus Our Lord.
