I just came back from my first time at Burning Man and this video really accurately portrays how I felt about it as well. Really well done video! Thank you. :)
Been 3 times. Had a blast. But most of what the people say doesn't translate into real life. It's rampant while out there and caught up in the moment(usually drug fueled euphoria and typical large group enthusiasm), but dies out once back in the "real world". Nice idea though. Unfortunately it's all a big incantation that everyone is partying on and the majority of people aren't told that they're participating in a giant witchcraft ritual. The people that run it treat their "employees" fairly poorly as well. There have been several deaths by "suicide" of people that have worked for the org that puts it on. Again, I had a blast while there, but the overall of the event seems to miss the mark for advancement of mankind and more or less is a proponent for a hollow ideal that will never solidify. Typically rich people that don't want to work and want to be weird all the time and act like they're oppressed for not being able to. Just my observation and what rings true for me.

SNAITIZED, INC.- It is strange. The biggest reason that BM is held so far out in the middle of nowhere is so they won't bother anyone else while they have fun. I think it really chaps the asses of various people because the beliefs of whatever sect of religion or society they allow to control them forbids them to have that much fun. They hate that a large group meets in the desert to party every year and walk around naked if they want. The most they can do is seek out these videos, watch in jealousy, and lash out in comment sections.

With our geoengineered weather that is killing every living creature on our beautiful planet Earth, it would be way more awesome to see all the burning man participants brainstorming or promoting solutions to the current global crises at hand rather than a self-expression ceremony.
A lot of people there are scientists, doctors, engineers, computer geniuses, etc, and that is what a lot of them are doing for the other 51 weeks out of the year: working to solve global crises. Unlike the average conservative christian businessman, who spends his time figuring out ways to line his pockets with cash while he's alive, regardless of the affects on the environment. Everyone needs a vacation once in awhile.
It's symbolic. The same type ceremony has been going on in various cultures since ancient times. The Celtic wicker man to Zozobra in Santa Fe, New Mexico which still goes on every year at the big fiesta.
A very sizable portion of these people dedicate their lives to important causes. There's no this or that. You can enjoy life while dedicating yourself to important causes.

I know many people who go every year and not one them does anything important for their community let alone the world. Spending all your money (or parents money) to go to all the big festivals (which literally do NOTHING beneficial for the environment/community) throughout the year has no positive impact on society or for the earth. Especially if your concerned about carbon emissions having an impact on 'global warming' than you'd rethink the idea of burning a 200ft tall structure (most likely chemically treated wood). The amount of emissions from that far exceeds that of all the cars on the road throughout the country for some odd months

My camp broke down all the structures built and is reusing them to build a sustainable community in Puerto Rico. At least Burning Man attendees are generally at least somewhat environmentally conscious. You can't say that about most festivals and gatherings that use and waste tons of plastic and don't give a shit about their carbon footprint. If you want to target gatherings, there are many that are astronomically worse, Joshua "End All Festivals" Hooker.
