in european folklore the vampires casket was filled with sand or rice thus the vampire would have to count it before it could leave which would take till dawn this comes from romania or hungary i believe also this legend supossedly inspired the sesame street character the count

Its so interesting how many consistencies there are in these legends across cultures. That's so funny about the count, I never thought about his characters origins!
