Could you imagine an actual adaptation of Milton's Paradise Lost though, with a big budget and special effects and everything? I would sell my firstborn to see that!
Who do you want making it? Dead* or alive? Kubrick? David Lynch? Theo Angelopolous? James Cameron or Spielberg I would think not, as more important that it seem otherworldly and out-of-time than merely epic. (* because it will never be made anyway)
@@hd-xc2lz An adaptation of Paradise Lost is certainly very difficult but starting to border on possible, especially given the increasing scale of today's special effects capabilities. For one, it's a production designer's dream (but potentially disastrous) project. The writing might be tricky given that everyone knows the ending - you would have to emphasize character development in addition to the plot. Any big-budget capable director would thus be adequate enough for adapting it to film given a good enough script as long as they're competent in making tentpole films, so I actually would go for Cameron or Spielberg, or Kubrick were he alive. Nolan has proven quite capable of large scale effects in Interstellar, and impressive practical effects in every other one of his films, so he's also a prime contender for the director as my pick. I think the main problem in getting that project produced might be that the work is too “Christian” for a popular audience, but not orthodox Christian enough for some or many believers. For instance, you would have to be rather careful about Adam and Eve's nudity or toning down the potentially blasphemous aspects of the material if you aimed for a wide release for Western audiences. This problem has been evident in quite a few Milton-esque adaptations in recent years, such as the movie The Golden Compass (whose source material is very inspired by Paradise Lost) or the series Lucifer. An actual big budget adaptation for Paradise Lost almost got made back in 2012, but got scrapped after Legendary Pictures tried and failed to keep the projected special effects budget for the film below $120 million tops. The epic-sized Alex Proyas-directed film was to star Bradley Cooper as Lucifer, Benjamin Walker as the archangel Michael, Diego Boneta as Adam and Camilla Belle as Eve. Legendary's official statement at the time was "production has been halted until technological advancements in visual effects bring to a reasonable cost the task of creating a believable depiction of the celestial battles that are at the heart of this film". It has been stuck in development hell to this day, and while miracles have happened before (looking at you, Dune), I'm not holding my breath for one any time soon. The closest we'll ever get to something like it is if HBO's His Dark Materials gets far enough to adapt the source material of The Amber Spyglass.
@@MaximusAlcarinque Agree with your second paragraph that audience issues surrounding Christian themes are the primary hurdle. And along those lines, no doubt all dialogue will be translated into "plain English," displeasing readers of Milton. Thanks for the info regarding 2012 scrapped project. I had no idea, kinda shocked that it got so far as casting.
This has actually been in "development hell" for a decade now. Alex Proyas, director of "The Crow," was planning on adapting the epic with Bradley Cooper signed on as lead. It never progressed further due to budget issues and the special effect requirements.
How about we add “hold my beer” to the scrap heap with “WAZZUUP” and countless other WAY overused expressions that people used to try and be witty only to make themselves look completely unoriginal?
Me too. Nolte has an awesome soothing voice with a nice gravelly growl. Of course this film also has Bridget Regan, whose body I myself find oddly soothing but that's me. Good luck seeing this one!
Apparently until 6 months after April 13th it should have been distributed worldwide after only being able on Spectrum but every time I have checked I come up with nothing, I've tried EVERYTHING. This is the second time EVER I haven't been able to watch something... funnily enough that was another Tv series with Bridget Regan in it. I've watched almost everything of hers.
I agree. Mississippi has a beautiful goth history behind her name only few know about. People who live outside her walls barely know she exist however, once you’re here, you’ll never forget her.
To everyone who fell for the clickbait.., the feeling is mutual.

PS you can also check out the film's concept art online which both Proyas and Cooper presented at the 2011 Comic-Con.
Was hoping this was either related to John Milton or Nick Holmes🤘
Same
For a title that's been used over a dozen times for movies, you'd think SOMEBODY would eventually try adapting it, but nope lol
Nick Nolte looks in shape and good to see Josh Hartnett back!
So happy to see Josh back!
He was chasing Aliens at
Harrington High again after 20+ yrs. they came back after hearing lockdown in the city.
He's gotten a really bad rep over the years. But he actually made the movie 30 Days of Night

Agreed. Frankly, makers of this melodramatic shlock should be embarrassed to borrow Milton's title.
I was to. And i thought it was still going to be when i heard her say "he's different down here".
No where do I see in the credits of this trailer any mention of poet John Milton.
Every ones focus was at the naked woman but my focus was at the title since I’m a very big postal fan
Legend of the seeker days 🤗 bridget regan is beautiful
