It's better to use Abaqus CAD interface (in Abaqus) coupled with Solidworks-Abaqus add-in (in Solidworks). Any change in solid work model will be carried to Abaqus. It's an extremely interactive process.
Thank you very much for this tutorial! I am importing an IGS file which I created by importing an STL file to solidworks. The file therefore contains a lot of triangluar surfaces when importat to abaqus. When I seed the edges or the whole geometry the seeds align on the corners of the triangles and reducing the size does not increase the amount of elements, any tip how I could resolve this issue?
Hello Sir, What if i import a shell into abaqus. I have Robot UR3 that I made imported into abaqus. However, I cannot mesh it without errors. Partitioning this part does nothing as I still have errors. I even made literally 200 datum plnes and partitioned it, and it still has warning errors. Pls provide any insight on this. Many thanks.

Great video! Abaqus says that my step files are either corrupt or not valid, is there any solution to this?
