Inspired me to look at my overflow shadow palettes and declutterred half! I have millions of perfume samples and need to seriously declutter those since I already have so many fragrances I love! Goal for the new year is to try out any samples (skin care, fragrance, etc) right away so I don’t end up with a big stockpile that I forget about.
I'm so glad I was able to inspire a declutter. And wow - half? That's impressive. I spent over a year going through all the perfume samples I had collected. And if I didn't like it enough to buy a whole bottle, I immediately ditched the sample. Out of nearly a hundred tiny samples only 3 ended up being full-bottle worthy. It felt so good to get rid of all those little bottles. I did the same thing with my skincare, too. It feels so good to be rid of all the samples! They really seem to multiply when left forgotten in a drawer, don't they?
It is always so wonderful to see new content from you. You truly are my favorite Content Creator to listen to. Something in the way you speak makes the experience so pleasurable. *I realize that may sound kinda creepy, I really don't mean it that way. I mean it more in an ASMR type of way lol!* I'm glad to see you tackle your eyeshadow palettes because it reminded me I need to do the same. :)
Haha! I'm glad that you enjoy it. Thanks for taking a moment to let me know! :-D I wish you lots of fun tackling your eyeshadow palettes. I'm feeling a lot lighter now that mine are decluttered. I hope you do, too!
Yay for shimmery-red-shadows! Every time the single from Odin's Eye tempts me, I just open up that PMG palette and play with that sparkling red. Thanks for taking a moment to say hi, Jen! It's lovely to hear from you. ❤
Your dress form with the wig SENT ME!! 😂😂😂😂 I need to do an eyeshadow palette declutter so that I can really see the things I love and they stand out to me. I have done exactly what you described with my lipsticks and cheek products. It felt good! (I had a purgatory box and I didn’t pull one thing out of it to go back in my collection. But knowing it was there and I could pull something back made me more comfortable through the whole process.) My college age daughter, her girlfriend and their roommates are all thrilled recipients of my declutters. It makes it so fun to give my stuff to them. I’d rather they get use out of things than for me to use a palette once or twice a year until it goes bad!
I figured Doris needed to update her look. 😂😂😂 Having a "time will tell" box really made things so much easier for me, too. And letting my niece go through it and take whatever she wanted when she came to visit was so much fun! I'm with you: I would much rather see those beautiful things get real use than just pick them up once in a while. I'm so glad you were able to have a similar experience with your daghter and her friends! Now I just have to remember not to repeat my overpurchasing mistakes. 😂
@@TheStyleStumbler Me too! The overshopping monster is real. I’m trying to institute a one in, one out policy. It’s easy with lipsticks. I have only so many slots in my lipstick holder. To get a new one, one must go. I don’t want one to go? I can’t bring one in! Them’s the breaks!
@@LisaF_ That's how my container policy started: with my lipstick holder! That made things so easy that now I'm trying to expand it to EVERYTHING. I'm excited to see if this makes it easy for me to avoid overpurchasing stuff now.
Giggling a little because you organized your ND Metropolis similarly to the UD Born to Run palette! I guess Urban Decay really nailed an intuitive color layout with that palette, I've always loved it ❤ always love your videos!!
Haha! I didn't even notice that! Yes, Urban Decay did a great job on the layout of that Born to Run palette. Thanks for taking a moment to say hi, Lauren! It's always lovely to hear from you. ❤
I’ve just spent a week completely decluttering my bathroom and bedroom. I’ve left myself a think about it storage chest. If I don’t use it, it goes away in the trash. I’ve donated a lot as well! The time has come for me to declutter glitter and shiny pallets. I’m in my 60’s, the texture keeps me from using sparklies now.
Congratulations! Doesn't it feel good to have a clean slate? Preferences really do change as we grow - I'm a little shocked at some of the shadows that I added to the "time will tell" box after I finished this declutter. Now that they're gone, I just feel lighter.
Older too and can’t handle glitter. Not sure if it would work for you, but I use highlighter on my eyes to add a little sparkle to flat matte shadows. I’ve been using the Charlotte Tilbury that comes with the bronzer and sometimes just use the bronzer and highlighter for a simple eye look. I bought the mini size so more cost effective and works for travel.
@@mariescott2820 That's a great suggestion, Marie. And the Charlotte Tilbury highlighter in that duo is a great one for that since it's so soft - it won't emphasize texture.
DUN DUN DUH time for the true meat of the declutter. And excellent use of the time will tell box if you were able to get rid of everything you put in it. I'm having a chuckle at some of the color names on these palettes. 😂Just from what I've seen of various product tie-ins for pop culture franchises, I can believe that the Star Wars palettes are not as high quality as other ones you might have. For some reason, looking at your Viseart stage stack reminds me of the homemade mix CDs I used to have as my road trip standbys in my car. I think it's nice that you kept that Gucci palette as a just-to-have-fun-with-the mundane item. I think we all need something like that in our lives. Even to my uneducated eye, that Natasha Denona Palladium color has something magical about it. It looks like what every fake and bake tan in a bottle claims to provided as far as a sun-kissed look, but always fails horribly at. It so fun to hear hear the glee in your voice as the swatch goblin gets to pop her head out to play with the colorful dirt. Thank you for the shout out with the Bludgeoned by Beige palette. That made my day. 🥰🥰 Overall, I was really impressed with how you talked about each palette. There was enthusiasm, but also a reasoned approach to why you were keeping or getting rid of each palette. I also detected a confident tone that sounds like you were able to keep feelings of being overwhelmed by the process at bay.
This was definitely the pinnacle for me: I lurv my eyeshadows! 😂 Yeah, some of the palette names and shades names make me chuckle too. I'm not sure if that's the effect the marketers wanted. But ultimately they got me to buy the stuff, so it worked. Now that you mention it, those Viseart palettes DO look like jewel cases for CDs! Now I like them even more. You hit the nail on the head with the Palladium shade. And the "Bludgeoned by Beige" palette name. Maybe you should write all the scripts for my videos about cosmetic colors now. 😂 It was so hard not to just go full-out swatch goblin when I was recording this. But I had to keep her in check, or we never would have finished. 😂 I think all the practice with the previous categories and the "time will tell" box made this declutter so much easier than I was expecting. Thanks so much for sticking with me through the whole process, always offering me encouragement. It's a joy to have you along for the ride, Zach! 💛
@TheStyleStumbler I have moments of brilliant inspiration, and with time I can really organize thoughts coherently, but I don't think I could write a full script in a timely fashion for you. 😂 The practice you did with everything else in your makeup collection really built a good foundation for you to do this without having your swatch monster go nuts playing with all the fancy dirt. I know how much you lurv your eye shadow, but I have a sense that those feelings will only deepen as you use your more curated collection and move into the storage/organization phase of the project. I'm happy to walk this road with you and offer encouragement where I can. I would like to think it has made the process more enjoyable for you. And that some of what I've said has been helpful. 😁👏💜🩷💚💙🧡
@@zachbecvar You have definitely been a huge source of encouragement and having your support has also made it a lot of fun. And I think you're right: now that my collection is more curated I'm definitely having more fun with it.

Really awesome video! I loved seing new palettets that I've never heard before. I think your Huda Beauty Naughty shimmery eyeshadows might be mouldy, so you may want to bin those
Thanks for taking a moment to let me know you liked it! Huda is often coming up with crazy-looking formulas - I can see how those shimmers would look moldy on camera. But in person they look "mottled" because the pearl is unevenly distributed througout the powder. They look like that when they're brand new, too. Thank you for watching out for me!
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine from Florida. She's a Psychotherapist, well respected and great with people, you would like her. Anyway, from what she said she could use your advice on decluttering :)
Thanks for taking a moment to let me know! 💛 The one that works best for me is the original Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. MAC's paint pot in "soft ochre" or "painterly" also works when I want to create a blank canvas first. But it can be different from person to person. For example, some people with oily eyelids seem to really like the Fenty eyeshadow primer, but that one didn't work for me at all.
