That really was absolutely adorable. I wish to be even half as talented as the students you have in your class one day, especially the last two you've recorded.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! SO CUTE! Love your style Josephine! I actually want to be a Children's Book Illustrator someday and looking at your sketchbook is inspiring! Keep being amazing!
Wow, Josephine- your artwork inspires me!! Love what you're doing and I know you'll go as far as you desire with your art! I'll be keeping my eyes open for your name/style in the future!
public. Not only that, but the amount of conventions and events that go on within the city are incredible and another great way to get yourself out there. And this class was in fact taught at SVA, the same school shown in this video. It is sure as hell ain't going to be easy, but there are many options that you can choose from.
I wonder if she just had an entire sketchbook dedicated to coloured sketches and studies in all mediums, how awesome THAT would be to glimpse through it.
Whoaooo they are all sooooo good, i just started to draw and its nothing compared to your students' sketchbooks, im just 19 but i want to be good like them :D
I guess that manga is probably the most appealing cartoon style in a sense. Walt Disney found out that it looked good to accent a character's eyes and shrink the other features, creating a childish aura to the image. If you look at some of the Disney movie art (especially the newer ones) you'll see parallels between both. Since achieving the genre of "manga" in your art is pretty easy to get considering how wide the style options extend, those usually looking for appealing characters turn to it.
... is it just me? or does the camera man NOT enjoy her sophisticated artwork. He was like, "Yep yep. Just a little sketch she drew." and, "Good practice, good practice." LOL! but great work! loved it!
Wow...I think that until now, Dana and Josephine are my favorite of the sketchbooks you've shown! ...I'm really scared...I'm starting College this next semester, and I'd like to take both traditional and graphic art courses, but I'm extremely intimidated...
Love this sketchbook! Especially the Ghibli-Drawings and the other cute stuff! But i have a question. A Lot of the Sketches are only Blue or only Orange. (Also in spencers sketchbook) what colours/pencils do you use for this? Thank you!
amazing! i am 14 and i want to be like Josephine when i grow up. ironically my name is Josephine too XD. I love you Josephine, my namesister :D best wishes :D i just have to practice every day i hope. :)
And I have to disagree with that statement about NY, I live in NY and have taken a class in individual comic marketing and one of things that my instructor had mentioned was that you would have more benefits of getting your work out into the world in New York than probably any place in the world, because of all the opportunities you have to actually market your works; there are so many comic book stores that I never realized that would purchase individual published works and sell them to the
Because it is popular, and like I said before its easier to get commercialized so even the average person has the chance to be a great anime writer or artist. Like you I feel most people want everyone to see their work unlike other art forms where a few margin wants to go see it. The only reason you see kids drawing manga is because your only seeing it as manga in all honesty it is seen as the eye of the beholder so to you it seems like manga but me personally it seems more comicy or cartoony
best sketchbook you've shown, she's an amazing artist! does she have a deviantart account? I know one of your other students has one, you did her video outside a while back,I forgot her name, but she was good too.
Any chance she's still around? I'd like to see an update video on her. Not to sound like a dick, but as cute and nice as her art was, it was obvious it needed a bit of work. It was still good, just needed some work. And I'd love to see how much she must have improved since 2012.
I want to do art while I'm in school but I can't draw when I have to for some weird reason I have know idea. And I always draw when I'm not supposed to
i was dieing when he said fung pu .... hes always stumbling on words so funny :-) btw this is great i love her style nice and cute and that other word i can spell..=.=
'HOMYGAWSH There is something sexy in there!' Best line a teacher has ever said. EVER. Wish my teacher said that when she looked through mine.... She just constantly throws it in the garbage 0.o
Lovely artwork! Just adorable! (I have to agree with Matt, though. Every time I saw the "butcher" I thought "girl". He just doesn't look masculine enough to me. Great character nonetheless!)
I'm nowhere near this good, but I'm improving. I'm in 9th grade now, and looking back at my old drawings from 6th, 7th, or even just 8th grade and then looking at my drawings from this year, I can see that I've gotten a lot better over the past few years.
you are right, truly. I was thinking of it from the perspective of why i started drawing but I failed to think I am not everyone, sorry. To your second point, my thoughts exactly, I was just trying to explain that not every kid draws manga its just that manga is what he sees they are drawing.
i love seeing works in sketchbooks that aren't perfect. it makes going to my own sketchbook a lot less intimidating
That really was absolutely adorable. I wish to be even half as talented as the students you have in your class one day, especially the last two you've recorded.
Like how these videos show that dedication and daily drawing will produce results and improve your art
I really love seeing these student sketchbooks, since I'm graduating high school and about to become an art student myself!

LOVE IT!!
I've seen enough of these to ask, why do they use the red and blue pencils for? I often see them used in figure studies as well.
What kind of pencils does she use for painting?

thanks for another interesting video.
I want to do art while I'm in school but I can't draw when I have to for some weird reason I have know idea. And I always draw when I'm not supposed to
Scout Spy When you have ideas, write them down. That's what I do.
I can't write them down. I have to draw it then and there
Yes, you can. I believe in you!
I don't get in trouble for drawing when I'm not supposed to anyway because everyone watches me when I draw, even my teachers love my art
Her sketchbook was both cute and elegant and had some miyazaki art in it a great series of movies. Sorry if i miss spelled his name.
Matt it's "quintessential cuteness" ^_^
Matt :is real what you think of Josephine, my congratulations to her
good work. where is this? school? how old is she and how long has she been drawing?
are there any animation studies of students that you can show us? :)
yeah she'd be a great children's illustrator it seems. I still think she should practice her other drawings too though, they look great
Thanks for sharing!
i was dieing when he said fung pu .... hes always stumbling on words so funny :-) btw this is great i love her style nice and cute and that other word i can spell..=.=

A teacher can't do that it's the student property

Is that a Chibi Maruko Chan character I see in there? I like this girl.
you are right, truly. I was thinking of it from the perspective of why i started drawing but I failed to think I am not everyone, sorry. To your second point, my thoughts exactly, I was just trying to explain that not every kid draws manga its just that manga is what he sees they are drawing.
