Metal objects can be used very successfully! If they have a very low profile you can place it directly on the plate and place the paper over the top. If it is a three dimensional object it can work as a stamp to lift ink off the plate. And don't waste the ink after you've lifted the ink from the plate; use it as a stamp to lay ink down on a clean Speedball Gel Plate. Happy printing.

I just didn't think of using ink instead of acrylic, I love that it wouldn't go under my stencils, thank you.

I want to print on fabric. Can you use the speedball fabric printing ink on a gel plate without ruining the plate? I think the fabric friendly version of this ink is oil based.

Can we use any brand acrylics paint?
If so do we need to add any medium to prevent drying?
How to clean acrylics paint from the Gel plates?
Thank you for tutorial. Great teaching.

I use all brands of acrylics, from the very cheap ones to the more expensive ones - they all work differently. I clean my gel plates with a baby wipe but you can use a damp paper towel or cloth. If you live in a dry climate, where the paints might dry out quicker, try using a drop or two of hand sanitiser on your plate with the paint.

Thank you Amy…lovely prints. Is the ink permanent or will it reactivate when wet? Can I use the prints in a collage adhering with acrylic mediums?

What are the advantages of the Speedball and/or Akua Intaglio Inks vs. acrylic paints on the Gelliplate?

Hello! The Akua inks are designed to dry through absorption into the material they are printed on, and not through evaporation, so one benefit to the Akua inks is the incredibly long open and work time, you can pull many prints from one plate!
