    ERRATA:
32:16 The 'ntp authenticate' command isn't needed to enable NTP authentication. It is only needed when using 'ntp passive', 'ntp broadcast client' or 'ntp multicast client' - all beyond the scope of the CCNA exam. Check out www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/bsm/command/bsm-cr-book/bsm-cr-n1.html#wp2231112076 for more information.
To be fair, lots of other Cisco documentation and CCNA study materials state that this command is necessary, but that seems to be a misunderstanding. Try it out on some Cisco routers and you'll see it's not necessary!

Hello Jeremy and anyone finding this course helpful. I passed my CCNA last night and I can say that this course helped more than any other resource. For those preparing, who have taken CompTIA, this is far different than them. I had 86 questions and 4 labs, you can only move forward in the test, no flagging for review, no going back to change an answer so be prepared for that. I commented on the NTP video because 3 of my 4 questions had NTP setup with peers and clients. Two had setting up SSH connections. One was all VLANS and trunking. I got none on OSPF or STP which is where I spent the majority of my practice after reading about others experiences. I also used Boson practice tests. I also had quite a few regular questions on Wireless LAN setup and SDN. SDN was actually my strongest category which was strange since in Boson tests, Security was always my strongest, in the exam it was my weakest. Either way, thanks Jeremy! These are the best video resources and I commend you for taking the time to create these and all the resources and labs and provide them for free.

That's insane that you didn't get any STP or OSPF labs!!!! My first attempt, I couldn't even count how many questions I got about OSPF and IPv6, my two weakest categories back then. It appears everyone's exams can vary wildly and that you really have to be prepared for anything and everything.

So many mac addresses to remember and so many commands that are, is it just because I have not started my revision ( as i plan to finish the series first and then revise myself by using boson and revise the topics whose answer I fail to answer correctly. I know this was a year ago, but for anyone else reading this, remember that your brain is capable of storing and automating so many more things than you would think. I used to think the exact same thing this guy did.
Think about how many different words you know, the random facts you know about a video game or tv show or something, people from decades ago you still might remember, all of that literally gets stored in your brain and we can still recall it years and years later. Your brain is not something that gets worse with use, it's actually more like a knife that gets rusted when you don't use it, and sharpened when you do. The more you use it and commit short term memory to your long term memory, the better it gets at doing it and the more you're actually able to learn and remember. Think of your brain like a hard drive that actually increases in size when you use it. This isn't even me just saying stuff to make you feel better, it's all very well studied. Trust your brain, get a bunch of reps in and go over this stuff multiple times (Do labs, flash cards, practice tests, read books/watch other videos as well if you need in addition to these, watch these ones back over, etc) and it will stick. Just takes time and practice and consistency.

For your final example : why it is not D ?
ntp server {address | hostname}: NTP client/server mode-the device acts as both client
and server. First, it acts as an NTP client, to synchronize time with a server. Once synchronized,
the device can then act as an NTP server, to supply time to other NTP clients.

    • @JeremysITLab
      @JeremysITLab  3 года назад +1

Are you asking about the Boson example? 'NTP SERVER x.x.x.x' configures the device to synchronize its time to the server specified in the command. This is static client mode.
After synchronizing to that server it CAN be a server for other NTP clients, but in this case A is definitely the more correct answer.

I think im kind of retarded but I'll give this question a crack lmfao. Routers just forward packets to the destination it needs to reach via a next hop address if it has. I don't think it cares about communicating with anyhting beyond its layer as layer 7 is purely created by hosts that need whatever is going on over their lol. The routers job is just to make sure stuff is getting where it needs to be.

Yes! All devices should have accurate time and NTP can be a vulnerability, so security engineers should know it well.

    #Configuration *Global Configuration*
*ntp server* _ip-address_ _[prefer]_ : Configures a Cisco device to synchronize its clock with a specific Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. The "ip-address" parameter is the IP address of the NTP server. The optional "prefer" keyword is used to indicate that this NTP server should be the primary source of time for the device.
*ntp peer* _ip-address_ : Configures a Cisco device to synchronize its clock with a specific NTP peer. The "ip-address" parameter is the IP address of the NTP peer.
*ntp update-calendar* : Updates the device's calendar with the current time obtained from the NTP server or peer.
*ntp master* _[stratum]_ : Configures a Cisco device as an NTP master. The optional "stratum" parameter is used to specify the stratum level of the device. The lower the stratum level, the more accurate the time source.
*ntp source* _interface_ : Specifies the interface from which the device should obtain its time source.
    #Show *Privileged EXEC*
*show ntp associations* : Displays information about the NTP associations on a Cisco device. This includes the status of the associations, the IP address of the server or peer, and the stratum level.
*show ntp status* : Displays the current status of the NTP service on a Cisco device. This includes the current time, the time source, and the stratum level.
    #Authentication *Global Configuration*
*ntp authenticate* : Enables NTP authentication on a Cisco device.
*ntp authentication-key* _key-number_ *md5* _key_ : Configures an NTP authentication key on a Cisco device. The "key-number" parameter is the number assigned to the key, "md5" specifies the type of key (MD5) and "key" is the key value.
*ntp trusted-key* _key-number_ : Specifies the NTP authentication key that the device should use.
*ntp server* _ip-address_ *key* _key-number_ : Configures a Cisco device to synchronize its clock with a specific NTP server and specify the key for authentication.
*ntp peer* _ip-address_ *key* _key-number_ : Configures a Cisco device to synchronize its clock with a specific NTP peer and specify the key for authentication.
    #Clock *Global Configuration*
*clock summer-time* _zone_ { _date month year hh:mm date month year hh:mm_ | *recurring* _week day month hh:mm week day month hh:mm_ } _[offset]_ : Configure system to switch to automatically daylight saving time. Offset is the number of minutes to add during the summer time. Enter dates in ascending order.
*clock timezone* _zone hours-offset [minutes-offset]_ : To set the time zone for display.

Also, I don't think he's gonna reply to your comment, because whenever I see most recent comments like before days or weeks, they ask a lots of question. There wasn't even one reply. He only replied to the super thanks comment. So I dont think he's gonna reply. But let's see.

For the NTP key-number does it have to match on both client and server? Obviously, the key itself has to be the same but can the numbers be different per machine?
