So true lol! I'm surprised the frog has lasted as long as it has. There's such a cult following around the piece now that I don't think they'll ever remove it from the parts portfolio now.
@CheeseyStudios I hope they never get rid of it. Opening the bag of 100 pink frogs in the bonzai tree was amazing. Best bag of legos ever made in my opinion
I'm not a huge enjoyer of the frog mold, but I do like all these modern style animals a lot. They are realistic enough to work alongside minifigs, but joyful and playful enough to convey the animals they represent.
@@pinobluevogel6458 I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the old molds, like the old polar bears or the old horses. The frog is probably the only one of the older style that I really do like
@@prons_gaming5083 I love the old horses, even though the new ones are slightly better. I have about 30 of them lying around from both my own and my girlfriends collection when we were young. This saves the slightly more detailed and articulate horses for the main characters, bosses and kings. I'm with you on that polar bear though, the new one is superior by a mile.
I have been really enjoying the new animals LEGO has been producing, but it REALLY makes me want a new Capybara (that isn't in the minidoll style), and I hope eventually we'll get some form of a safari-themed wave of sets to get that!
Wouldn't capybaras be in this wave or one like it, they are from the jungles and swamps of south America, and aren't safaris like the semi aired plains of Africa, I could be wrong tho. But yeah capybaras would be really cool, and if they did make a south American wildlife wave, we could get tons of cool creatures and critters. :3
For a new savannah set they should definetly do a rhino, hippo, giraffe and maybe a new zebra color on a horse. Hyena's also could be an intresting addition.
Yeah, more detail doesn't always mean better. The more subtle and complex shapes you add, the more it's going to look out of place in a Lego setting. I mean, the body of a minifigure is shaped like a trapezoid. Putting that next to an intricately shaped gator head, it's gonna look a little weird. The classic gator was a good balance between looking like Lego and being recognizable as the right animal, without looking like a generic toy gator. Redesigning these old moulds isn't a bad thing, but I think they went a bit too far. However, I do like how much room is in the new gator's mouth. You can put a lot of different things in there.
The old crocs were very good, like the old sharks. There is something about the basic shapes that makes them work exceptionally well, unlike the monkey mold from the pirates theme. I do have to say, the new crocs have a slightly better comedic value, they seem to 'grin' a little, which I noticed is awesome to make jokes with for little children, ... or large adults on occasion.

The newer dinosaur molds from Jurassic park look great. Very colorful and quite detailed. It is a bit expensive of a theme though, I'm trying to find some stuff discounted as you are really paying for those insanely large pieces of plastic :)
Just wow. Slowly but surely Lego is fulfilling all my Lego wishes. As someone that has an enormous Lego city zoo still in his future project list, this is simply amazing. Having a new tiger is awesome, but also new molds like the gorilla's and red panda are simply loads of fun. Even the olive green alligators look great, despite my first build for their enclosure already containing a dark green and a regular green one. (for some reason Lego people are much nicer) I would hope there would be a zoo line at some point, but as long as they keep all the animals going, we can make our own. I got the set with the elephants from 2 years ago for half off so I’d be so excited to do the same for that gorilla set in another 2 years. I don’t have anywhere to put LEGO vehicles so I could do without them but that’s a big ask for something with city in the name.

I'm looking forward to getting the tiger to add to my Aladdin minifigure set. It'll make a nice Rajah! Besides that though I have a lot of parts collected thus far for a modernized Johnny Thunder Egyptian diorama. Looking forward to the new figure!
So the interset connection thing is interesting. Not because it's a complex or super useful feature, but rather because of how we see it across themes as some kinda standard modular nature system. Avatar sets and the most recent Harry Potter dark forest sets comes to mind. However, looking closer at the avatar sets, it seems like the clip-and-bar connection on those are one plate higher than the Harry Potter ones. I guess Lego had not fully settled on a standard yet at the time of the avatar sets. Are these connections found in other recent sets? Or maybe even some old sets, the same way 80s castles are compatible with Harry Potter castle segments from 2020.
Definitely thought of Harry Potter right away too. The system is relatively new, since the clip pieces themselves are rather recent. Curious to see if anyone knows of other compatible examples though!
Not related to city, but… For your Minecraft display, i reccomend using the red creeper from the small minecraft set (i don’t know the name) and a CMF figure foot piece that puts them at an angle to make it look the the creeper is dying while being hit by a player.
JOHNNY THUNDER YES. Now all we need is the return of a certain hook-handed monocle-wearing ne'er-do-well and Lego is back on track. Extra points if he tries to steal that baby gorilla with a butterfly net.

It doesn't get better than that!
These new animals look AWESOME…. Although I do more love the lego dinosaurs!!!!!
The newer dinosaur molds from Jurassic park look great. Very colorful and quite detailed. It is a bit expensive of a theme though, I'm trying to find some stuff discounted as you are really paying for those insanely large pieces of plastic :)
More baby dinosaurs would be epic. Those big ones are so cool, but man, they take up a lot of space!
I love them but they are quite EXPENSIVE on bricklink so i prefer juts buying the sets
It's sooo good to see Johnny Thunder again. Now, when will Sam Sinister return?
True. That would be very cool
Born in the year of the tiger, and having it be one of my favourite animals, I'm stoked for the tiger box! Hope its not to expensive!
It's $35 which doesn't feel bad at all to me!
We've been waiting for lego to make gorillas for so, long. I didn't expect to see a lego gorilla baby, it's so CUTE🥹
I'm surprised it took this long too! They did a great job though
I’m so glad they finally made gorillas! They need to make some giraffes though! It’s long overdue!!
So true! And a zebra would be great as well
I'm looking forward to.. getting a new Johny Thunder 😅
Glad he's included in the smallest set, too! I think a lot of people will be quite excited to pick him up
(and a tiny hatchling)
I think I should really reward Lego for doing me such an awesome favor and buy a few of these sets. Thanks for reviewing it and point me towards them!
Ah, that red brick looks lovely next to your name!
@@CheeseyStudios Yea man, you put out so much value, even going as far as to point out a specific time on a video to explain something. (which you didn't have to do) I'm happy to be able to do a little bit back from my end. You've built a pretty amazing community of nice lego people here. (for some reason Lego people are much nicer)
I would hope there would be a zoo line at some point, but as long as they keep all the animals going, we can make our own. Would you consider making one at some point as a large Moc?
@@pinobluevogel6458 Ah, at the very least an aquarium exhibit would be a ton of fun. I love building coral and such!
These honestly are more detailed than I thought!
The red panda feels especially elaborate! It's super cool
Even cooler, they’re cheap!
R.I.P. Harambe. Gone, but never forgotten.
🙏🙏🙏
I can’t wait to recreate a specific event that occurred in Cincinnati some years ago with those gorillas
hmmmMMMMMmmmmmMmMMm
As a tiger lover and Indiana Jones fan, I need both Johnny Thunder and that majestic tiger :3 No, not THE Majestic Tiger, I already have that one, this little cute yet menacing tiger, I mean XD
lololol I love it
I have the original johnny Thunder set 5986 and used to play every day with it as a kid
Yes! Such a good set. So glad I was able to have that one for awhile.
Lego should bring back the animal rescue sets, I think they could use some animals besides the new elephants and monkeys. Maybe a new molded Giraffe(not duplo or friends style) in a set. You know, expand animal variety!
Ooh, giraffe would be awesome. And a proper zebra too!
I got the set with the elephants from 2 years ago for half off so I’d be so excited to do the same for that gorilla set in another 2 years. I don’t have anywhere to put LEGO vehicles so I could do without them but that’s a big ask for something with city in the name.
I wish I hadn't missed out on the elephants - those looked awesome!
Mannn those crocs are so cool looking
Glad to see them in more colors!
Walking Dead fans are going to love the tiger, to be completely honest. (As a Walking Dead fan myself.)
That's going to be a very useful piece. I can't believe we haven't gotten any proper orange tigers in the past!
You don’t understand how much watching this video has helped me today.
red pandas have been my favorite animal since i was 6 there is no way i'm not immediately picking that set up. even has a bonus johnny thunder
So glad you get both in the wave's smallest set! That one is going to be very popular
@@CheeseyStudios for sure. i hope they keep putting desirable animals in the small sets like the seal last year
i like the tiger set, decent looking off road truck with it as well
Honestly not that bad of a price either - I think that one will be popular!
The eagle would still be good to rerelease since we havent had it since its debut in 2018 in the People Pack
Oh dang, has it been that long? Maybe there'll be a surprise set still, like that one City space set!
@@CheeseyStudios That would be swell! I also could've seen it fitting for the Animal Rescue line from a few years ago, which already had some great choices for animals
Finally they are bringing the jungle theme back!
They did a great job with it too. It's a fun batch of sets!
I'm just here for Johnny Thunder
I can respect that lol
I really want a lego gorilla! I just dont have to money to buy the set. But... you convinced me to start saving 😂
Best of luck! ❤️
@CheeseyStudios Thanks!
If it weren't so expensive I'd want the gorilla one. Maybe I'll get it for myself as a treat when I graduate college this year.
I bet it'll go on sale eventually too if you're willing to wait :)
Still waiting for a black or dark gray alligator, maybe even with tan on the bottom with duel molding. that would definingly be the most accurate !
Ooh, yeah! That would look really cool
With Johnny Thunder's return we are now one step closer to seeing Clutch Powers return
He shows up in Ninjago every once in awhile for some reason lol! brickset.com/minifigs/njo667/clutch-powers-legacy
These new animal molds are amazing! I just wish I was more interested in the rest of the sets. Kind of an underwhelming return for Johnny Thunder.
I’m just so excited to see Johnny again
I always love to see some Adventurers callbacks, too
Im an animal lover, so for me this is awesome. I have the dark green alligator from the swamp police sets.
It's so great that LEGO City always introduces so many new animals!
I'm looking forward to getting the tiger to add to my Aladdin minifigure set. It'll make a nice Rajah!
Besides that though I have a lot of parts collected thus far for a modernized Johnny Thunder Egyptian diorama. Looking forward to the new figure!
Oh, that's a great idea! It's awesome to finally have a proper Tiger.
After all these years Lego finally paid homage to Harambe
about time smh
I love the tiger. I was so annoyed to see the original one be a weird yellow.
That shocked me too! I wonder what the internal discussions were like surrounding that
Johnny Thunder found the secrets of immortality
So that's what he was looking for all this time...
My reaction: Jonny thunder !!!!
The man, the myth, the legend
Yeah since I saw him I wanted him so I „can“ get him now
I got the tiny plane today ant the red panda set.the car was not in stock…. But they had a discount! Yeah not I have Jonny thunder !😀😀😃😃😄😄
Not related to city, but… For your Minecraft display, i reccomend using the red creeper from the small minecraft set (i don’t know the name) and a CMF figure foot piece that puts them at an angle to make it look the the creeper is dying while being hit by a player.
Stay tuned for the next episode, coming very soon 👀
LEGO GORILLA!? LEGO TIGER!? LEGO RED PANDA!!!? The Lego Animal Discovery has Expended! :[]
Ha! Indeed it has!
JOHNNY THUNDER YES.
Now all we need is the return of a certain hook-handed monocle-wearing ne'er-do-well and Lego is back on track. Extra points if he tries to steal that baby gorilla with a butterfly net.
Yessss - that would be epic!
Im very excited for the Gorillas. I always wanted a lego gorilla mold that was accurate, when i built something with gorillas I would use the cmf gorilla costume guy.
Now you can make a moc with both these and the costume guy. '... Day 21 and they still don't notice I'm not really one of them. "
lol! I remember that figure. Probably more convincing that Gorilla Grodd at least lolol

That ain't Johnny Thunder, that's Jim Rain.
lol you not wrong
