That's how I felt when I got the bill of writes and delceration of indipendnese from the national archives. I didn't get the quest just sort of wandered in it at a really low level and then got bits of paper. It feels really bad to go through a hard area for bad loot.

That's actually an important piece of intel. We can discern that some of the staff members were feds. The feds knew the bombs were going to go off and killed off the staff who weren't feds.
this weapon development might explain the sheer number of lead paperweights the CEO acquired, gotta have something to produce ammunition without raising suspicion.
Lead isn't a controlled substance though. It was likely just a fake invoice

I always found it strange that you never see microwave ovens in the fallout world. They've been around since the 40's irl so it's not like the divergence would have changed that.
Walpurgisnacht There's a weapon from Point Lookout that fires microwaves.
Maybe hot plates were used instead to give a more vintage feel? Although you see hot plates more in New Vegas than you do here.

Hey ox, just fyi, in fallout 3 and NV cigarette cartons are worth a good amount of caps if you have a decent barter skill.
Flak offered me 30 caps per catrton!
20 cartons, at 85+ barter, has gotten me upwards of 1k caps. They seriously are one of the best ways of making moolah, besides spam-crafting dart guns.

I remember stumbling in there my first play through, I was in aww and didn't read all the terminals I thought that a group of Chinese soldiers stormed the place when the bombs fell, didn't know of the pistol nor the treason that had been done there.
With the casual talk about weapons practice and hostile takeovers, it almost sounded like one of those corporate leadership camps.

I find it funny that I was so jumpy when exploring the Abandoned Apartments (in the Pitt) and got scared every time a Trog hit me, but I was perfectly fine going through Vault 87, maybe its because I had a companion in Vault 87 XD

Exclusive my fav NV companion is has to be Veronica or Cass. Veronica is really powerful with some power armour and a good fist, and Cass has a very useful perk, but they are both very entertaining

You know this story almost by itself confirms that neither the U.S. or the Chinese dropped the bombs first. Since if the U.S had dropped the bombs then they would have already recovered the pistol and you wouldn't have found it instead, all the robots that had been sent in to accomplish the raid were still there awaiting their next orders. And had the Chinese dropped the bombs first then they wouldn't have just sent a prototype weapon to this office instead they would have kept it back in China to finish testing during the opening stages of the war. This means that some other party dropped the bombs first most likely meant to be some form of terrorist attack to trigger the Americans and Chinese to nuke each other or was meant to scare one or both sides into not fighting only to backfire.

And you are assuming that some military weapons project in the heart of your enemies nation wouldn't be known by the people that have the authority to launch a nuclear attack. Another thing that I will point out that points to some third party starting the war is the opening to fallout 4 in prewar America. When Codsworth calls the player and their spouse to watch the tv the reporter says "we are receiving confirmed reports of nuclear detonations" not launches just detonations, and when the sole survivor is waiting at the top of the vault and the bomb explodes in what is to become the glowing sea there is no missile trail, and we do know that the Chinese and Americans used missiles in the fallout universe due to the lonesome road DLC in fallout new vegas and the Chinese submarine you find in Fallout 4. If China was responsible and somehow smuggled in the bombs they used for the initial strike then again they would not have shipped a prototype military weapon to L.O.B for testing.
Zerakiel it was the self aware ai computers America made they were driven insane from sensory deprivation being locked in a computer and from boredom they launched the nukes atleast that’s what the self aware ai computer from fallout 1&2 brotherhood says happened
Fallout brotherhood is non-canon to the series it is not known who actually launched first it is never said in any canon lore. That said with so many AI running around it is highly likely that at least one of them launched the bombs or at least orchestrated their launch. Although I feel it is also very likely that another country would have started the war in order to get America and China to destroy each other so they could pick up the pieces though it seems to have backfired since more than just those two nations launched nukes at each other.

Love your videos Ox, just got in to PC from console and first game I picked up was my all time favorite game of fallout 3 I've been listening to your videos while playing it and new Vegas and have been having a blast. With the holiday I picked up 1, 2, and tactics and am excited to see more videos covering those games too.

Hi Oxhorn, great video, though I think there is another explanation for the invoice.
The flag I think is the pistol given the ZRIN-418 suffix, with 450 rounds of ammunition or 'lead paperweights' and one fire retardant rug to throw over anything the CEO happens to set on fire using the pistol.

The first time i went at L.O.B and see this, it was quit a surprise and was telling myself : "What's going on, have i been hacked, a conspiracy perhaps??" So thanks to you, now i have the confirmation there's no conspiracy on me, my mental sanity is fine and i'm ready to wish you the best for 2018.
one thing i dont get is the gas: there was already a shortage as proven in lore of natural gas and oil, how after 200 years is there still gas pouring outta those leaky pipes? love the lore btw oxhorn

When I wondered through here there were only Sentry bots excluding the one Robobrain you ran into right away on the main floor. A lot of Sentry Bots.

You had a better exploration experience than I had. I got through the the floors but after I received the pistol I couldn’t find my way back Out, I was frustrated and it took me a whole 4 days to find the entrance room.
I can’t believe after how many times I’ve played this game, I’ve never even been to this entire square before

I remember playing on Very Hard and ran into this place. I got absolutely shredded lol. Those sentry bots don't mess around especially during earlier levels.
I get the impression that some of the cut content in this game was probably left out by accident. I imagine the one laying out the area probably forgot to put the terminal in, or it wasn't ready when he was making the area, and he planned to go back and add it in after.

24:17 I think the ZRIN-418 is the gun that was in the case on the desk. It was talked about in later terminals, it sounded like a gun. I think the sheet was messed with in case of the Feds. "USA FLAG ZRIN-418" ZHU-RONG V418
Turns out the Chinese did actually make some C96 "Broomhandle" Mauser pistols in real life, but in .45 ACP instead of 10mm.
I legit don't even remember this being in the game, holy shit.
