      @@ryan_lmao I think its also important to note they also own an NFL team called the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They bought it before they bought united and the NFL is very very revenue based. They get fans to stay in stadiums for 3 hours+ because the longer you make fans stay in the stadium the more they will buy the $9 bottle of water or the $17 hot dog that probs cost $2 to make. Go onto the NFL Europe shop and shirts are £100! I think they went into the United purchase thinking that the 2 models between Nfl and Premier League would be fine although it has been more bumpy than that. Hopefully for United fans they'll sell the team for some liquidity during this crisis and focus on their Tampa Bay team.

    The problem with the glazers is that they've run the club like a business for the past seven years. Big name signings, decking out the club with sponsors, they've essentially halted the development of the club the way it should've been during the post Ferguson era. That seems to be changing with OGS coming in but only time will really tell.

      As a Brit the idea of a team moving city is nigh on unthinkable, Arsenal moving out of North London, Tottenham moving out of the sewers or any of the Manchester teams moving out of Manchester.
      I cant understand why its so common in the US is it just more people live here so team goes here for more money? But then 3 years later after the novelty of having a team in the area wears off surely people stop watching and the funds dry up. Do teams just up and move AGAIN?
      How is that healthy for sport in any long term way, hell even in the short term as the stadiums are costing 100s of millions of dollars.
      I remember reading that Stan Kroenke after getting state funding to build a stadium on the grounds the club stayed in that city moved only a few years later saddling that city with a new empty stadium how is that even legal.

    • @kino6395
      @kino6395 4 года назад +12

      Thinking about it... if the US just added promotion and regulation each city could found there own team and fight it out in the correct way on the pitch instead of over the table. This just goes back to the US's stupid system of only 20 teams in a locked league instead of 1000s of teams in an unlocked one but with divisions like in the UK or ANY OTHER NATION.
      Who can blame anyone for wanting a top flight team nearby and when the only way to get one is to out bid another city for it seems to me that the system is rigged for the owners of the teams to get huge money bribes from citys.

    • @zattwik
      @zattwik 4 года назад +24

      @@kino6395 It has got more to do with franchise football. Unlike the PL clubs, clubs in the MLS are franchises which do not have a concept of either shared ownership with the fans or there's no sense of community building Stateside. European clubs have emerged from the historical developments in the local communities, industries, traders etc. US clubs have emerged from the capitalist expansion of multi-billionaires.
      And yes, the argument of novelty is spot on. The connection is not due to belongingness, but due to mere novelty of having a team in the area (without local players and local representation).

Our debt has been same since 2008 which is over half a million. Nearly all of the world economies run on debt. As long as there is a cadh flow you can always pay off debt. Despite our on pitch struggles, our FS are always strong managing record revenues & profits last financial year. My only opposition is that success in the commercial front is not translated in the football side bcoz of our hierarchy.

    For Manchester United to be more viable as a money making club with investment potential, they need to start consistently performing plus they need to let a manager actually implement their style of play instead of just firing when the manager doesn’t perform to their standards. Look at Wolves or Sheffield United for example, they don’t have the spending power of the Top 4 but they’re still pushing for European Football (Europa League) because their management structure has been allowed to adapt the teams playing style to complement their management style and therefore get fairly consistent results.

    I dont understand why they dont just create the best academy in the world?.
    Step 1: Glazers must be convinced to stash away 50 Million Pounds to buy youth players of other countries (Age 16-17 if you can work around the working papers issue then Age 15 as well)
    Step 2: Proceed to purchase the best scouts in multiple countries and start slowly buying young players out of that 50 Million pot
    Step 3: Have those players PLAY AT MANCHESTER UNITED on the youth team until they are age 18. THEN and only then do you loan them to a smaller English club
    This will ensure Manchester United can not only craft the player to their liking through the most crucial stages of development as a teenager to either eventually join the First Team or to craft them in a way that will make them the most profit (aka if you know Barcelona likes your youth player, maybe you train that player for the season prior to transferring to fit Barca’s system to ensure the transfer goes even more smoothly. If they’re old enough maybe in that case loan them to a small Spanish team before selling to Barcelona.) whichever they decide to use this method for. I feel like this is something that clubs like Ajax and Borussia Dortmund are known for but those clubs dont have anywhere near the reach or the resources of Manchester United. Plus this method wouldnt even have anything to do with the First Team budget whatsoever as this is in theory a completely separate organization with goals of their own that also happen to help the club (Think La Masia). Want to get back on top? Start building from the bottom.

    Unpopular opinion: Manchester United is a listed company and is valued at USD 2.7 billion today (when the markets are so down).. Now full ownership usually comes with a 25% premium, so USD 4bn is a fair price demand from Glazers. You can spend a lot and may buy players, but from where will fans come. Look at City, winning/challenging top 2 for the last 10 years, still the stadium is empty. MU deserves a premium, because you start with a huge fan base and it's easy to get players, than to get to say Newcastle United..

    As a Manchester United fan, this just makes me sad.. If this is the case as stated in the video, United are on the verge of becoming a mid-level club if they don’t win anything major in the next 2-3 years..
    Also, Old Trafford getting Old has been a lot of concern, but what’s sad is that Glazers won’t bother to spend money on rebuilding the stadium.. Already stadiums like Emirates and The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looks so awesome and has all the 21st century amenities..

Ole seems to want to go with that United vision of promoting youth so splashing the cash on a key position as well as trying to get the top young talents should be enough. The problem with United is you’d have to spend billions to buy them, that’s without even investing in the club or facilities
    Newcastle, £400m already in the same league and arguably wouldn’t need much more investment than united in the playing squad... United would probably need to spend £300m on the squad and Newcastle wouldn’t need much more. Even investing £600m to their squad would mean you’ve spent 3 billion less than you would at United to get them at the same level on the pitch

      Joe B but they also have more expenses, they’ve made a loss a few times over the last couple of years because those costs are so high. Newcastle don’t have the high costs yet but can potentially get that higher income meaning you can actually spend your money on improving the club rather than balancing the books. Mike Ashley has done a fantastic job at making sure Newcastle make money...
      The 3 or 4 billion it would take to buy United before spending a penny on the squad, ground ect would turn Newcastle into an absolute powerhouse.
