    I am not a teacher, but I plan on using this to have a virtual bedtime story (using an ebook) with my 6-year-old granddaughter who I have not seen for several months now. Your presentation using a split-screen showing what both participants see was excellent and helps to easily understand the technique. I truly admire your dedication in personally replying to each comment posted. Well done. Thanks.

      @@ttvRussell Had my first story time yesterday and it worked wonderfully. She really enjoyed it (as did her parents who were glad to have a new activity to occupy her for a little while during this time of 24/7 togetherness.) Thanks again. Cheers.

    Russell does a great job of demonstrating and explaining how to use Skype to screen share with a student. This is a way for a teacher to share any document, video or presentation with a student.

      Russell Stannard (Teacher Training Videos) our bosses ordered us to all use Skype so students all have a similar experience- these are adults at the UN. Luckily my classes are small but some French teachers are finding it difficult. We are sharing our experiences in two weeks so I’ll give your advice as we may continue for the next term. Thanks for this

    Yeah, Skype is good for screen sharing and for conducting online classes. Additionally, one can also use tools like Webex, Zoom, R-HUB web video conferencing servers, Gotomeeting etc. for all screen sharing and online teaching needs. These are easy to use and work well on all platforms.

    I understand what you did;however, I have a newer version of Macbook Pro than you do(?) and when I tried screen share a moment ago what your video said would happen did not. I was sent home from the training to figure out how to open screen share and close it , and how to do the same on Zoom which I do not anticipate being a problem. I wonder how a person does this if that do not have someone to call? I suppose I will call my phone and see what happens

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  4 года назад

      You do need to call someone to do screen share. It will be nothing to do with your Macbook. You may have a newer version of SKYPE than when I made that recording. If you call something, so you have someone to screen share with, it would all be clear. Sorry the video didn't help you

    One Q: when you/me share screen and bring some slide or other info screen ON, I still want to see my contact in the small video window.
    How do I do that?

    • @av4920
      @av4920 3 года назад

      @@ttvRussell yes , as I tried the other night ,it worked! To make it possible, my contact needs to drag my profile pic which is on the upper right so I can be seen while I am sharing screen. :)

    Quick question: Does Skype have a way for teachers/students to share annotation/writing capabilities like in zoom? I’m going to be tutoring for a company that uses Skype as its preferred platform, and I’m familiarizing myself (since I’m new to it) with its attributes and limitations so that I can plan accordingly. Also, your video has been the most helpful one I’ve viewed thus far! (Thank you for it!)

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  3 года назад

      No, as far as I know Tammy the answer is no, SKYPE is a bit tricky, I use it for some of my private lessons but I have to admit I prefer SKYPE..thank you for the really kind comment too Tammy. I need to update that SKYPE video actually.

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  4 года назад

      Hi Sunday. Skype does not allow this, like Zoom does: However, in Skype for Business bit.ly/2yeIpzb you can use a whiteboard tool. If you want a separate whiteboard tool, Microsoft Whiteboard works well with Skype, but you start screen sharing and use that as a separate tool. For annotations, I think Zoom is better. ruclips.net/video/h4wu1CYEIRo/видео.html

    Thank you so much for this video. Now I feel confident about using the screen share option with my students. I used to screen record the audio clippings because usually the transcription and answers are there at the end of the video which I don’t want my students to see immediately. This way I can just play the video and stop it wherever I want and the student can see and listen with the help of this option. Thank you. Will it be easier to store files in OneNote in order to share the documents with my students?

      You can't do that in SKYPE,,,in fact that is generally hard and very heavy on internet as screen sharing and sharing CAMS can really. Even with something like Zoom, you can only see a liimited number of students when screen sharing

I got a camera and added it to my computer. Unfortunately it seems that it is mirroring me. Therefore if I show to my students numbers or letters they see them mirrored. This is most unfortunate because my students are really young and they are just about learning numbers and letters. Is there a way that I can change my camera so that it doesn't mirror what I show? Thank you in advance for your time. 🤔😊

      Difficult to know, Paula, what's going wrong in your situation. There are options in Skype - settings - for audio - it might be to do with the microphone input - whether using a headset or not. Do check in the audio set up in Skype before making your call. Watch this part of another tutorial on using Skype about phoning someone: ruclips.net/video/tQpltHBztB0/видео.html

      Hi Raquel C. Thank you for leaving a comment and a question. The only thing I can think of is that the audio settings are not right. I presume you checked the audio input, and whether you are using your computer in-built mic or a headset and that the volume levels are OK. Have you tested the sound levels in Settings > Audio & Video? It seems to be something within Skype for both you and the other person.

      @@ttvRussellThank you for replying so promptly. Yes, I have a built-in mic. I have tested the sound in 'make a free test call' and it's all ok. The problem is when I share a video, in which I share the sound too, but it seems to turn down, even on my side, when it wasn't before, so my students can't hear it at all, despite the fact I put it at the highest volume. It doesn't matter if it's on RUclips or if it's a download I have. Would it make any difference if I changed the setting to High definition audio instead of the default mode? I don't use videos all the time, but when I do, it's for a listening comprehension activity, as I teach languages. Thank you :)
