Great video - thanks for painting an honest picture of a very complicated (but ultimately, I hope, satisfying) creative life. The rest of us out here who dream about "the life" always need a good reality check once in a while.
I LOVE studio vlogs and often that's all I'll watch. Especially those who do markets since I'm starting to do them more this coming year. I really like to watch Baylee Jae, she's an artist in Canada, Looping Teddys, she's a crocheter and market goer in Germany, and aPenas Illustrator, she's an artist and market goer in Portugal. I have you on my list now and have notifications turned because it's nice to have someone in my state (although a different section) to watch who is also an artist and does it full time. It encourages me to keep going in my pursuit of what I do.
Hello fellow Tennessean! Thanks for all the recommendations for people to subscribe to! I'm always surprised by how hard it is to find people on RUclips, even RUclipsrs like Baylee Jae with 1 million subscribers who I've somehow never heard of. Best of luck with your markets this year 💛
Studio blogs are great! And…let’s hear it for old cars! I drive a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee…she’s a gem! Excited to “see” you in the new year! All good things to you! 🐾💕🐾
Leighann, I find myself repeating...myself. Love. Your. Videos! 🤩 I wish you the best in getting things sorted out. We all have a much better sense how much work goes into all of this, with your behind the scenes views. I wonder if there is a way you can lean into your video production side, maybe by making your high quality videos for OTHER artists (or businesses?). You already own so much equipment for it, and you clearly have the skills and training. 🤔
Thanks, as always ☺️☺️ My husband is trying to convince me to make a course for other artists who make videos, so that's kind of along those lines! But we'll see 😅
Failure is fine. Does not mean you quit. I still do what I do even though I could not afford the studio any longer. My main focus will be a market garden and will grow our food and sell the remaining. That will be loads of work. Never quit and never give up. If one thing does not work then try something else or a different way to promote the business.
I appreciate that! I'm always hard on myself for not having prettier packaging but I'm trying to put Reduce, Reuse, Recycle above the looks haha Definitely care though!
I think art is really personal and when I commit to buying something, it really resonates with me or have a captivating story I want to remember. People have different reasons for feeling some way when they see something so I guess that makes it really challenging to create art others will want to keep. What I notice though is food (cookies, pastries, coffee) catches attention more easily than art, so if they can be combined then you might have a bigger market! Hope you don’t give up! All the best for the new year 🎉
I’m in Japan right now and aesthetic food always wins lol. I think it’s because it offers an experience. Maybe it’s more about experience than aesthetics, you experience a micro narrative through the aesthetics and that’s what gives people the desire to keep a part of it 🤔
Goodness! You were hard at work! Funny how 2 out of the 5 I've done have been a bit of a bust too, so I guess we both have a 60% success rate with events haha. Hoping that goes to at least 75% in 2025 for us 💪
I have had my own company for 3 years now and its so much work. During that time i have changed my core product, shut down one Shopify shop, started an Fourthwall shop. Tried stuff and failed.. Its rough but well worth it. I hope you all the best and subbed of course as this was first video i saw from you
Props to you and anyone else who keeps going and adapting along the way! Many people don't. I almost quit at least once a month lol. And I totally agree that it's rough but worth it. Thanks much for subscribing 💛☺️
Amazing! ...keep up the good work & greetings from Germany. The market reminds me of the time I tried to sell Paintings in Soho / NYC on the Street. *lol*
Btw can your wireless mic box accept wired input (down to where it's clamped to your waistband) from a collar-clipped lavelier mic? It's just so large and clunky and that big glowing blue light as ON indicator..bleh.
SWEET you have an original Logitech MX Master. I have been looking for one forever, but no one sells it in my country, and the only seller that carries it on Amazon doesn't ship to my country. Very sad. (I want one as a collector's item.) I hope you get everything sorted out soon! Looking forward to your new videos next year.
How interesting! I didn't know that mouse was something people sought out since, to me, It's always just been a hand me down from my husband 😅 I appreciate it much more now 😁 Thanks so much for watching 🥰
I have no idea why this video was in my feed. Or why I clicked on it. Or why I kept watching. But when I heard Kylie Dailey play it all clicked. I was drawn to the aura of a kindred spirit. I'm in the right place afterall.
As someone who started doing pop ups about 2 years ago, not all markets are created equal. I went to three different events held by the same host, n they ALL sucked, no customers whatsoever. As people like us make things for people to buy n enjoy, some people make a living by ripping off hopeful and naïve vendors
There was actually a woman in my area that scammed a bunch of vendors, and now they're trying to form a lawsuit and charge her with a felony. Crazy how she could've just put on the events and both the vendors her could've made money, but instead she scammed them?? Luckily, my first few events were great with decent people running them lol but sadly I guess we have to be so careful with the markets we choose. Wishing you some good events in 2025 too!!
I went to that market and might not have found you without it so that's a plus maybe. While they have a beautiful venue they do a terrible job of advertising and planning the booths. I went to one other market there and it was the same way and that one even charged for parking. I live in the area and there's so many artists you can get some real good full-art no MLMS etc events but that wasn't one of them. I decided to order some stickers to see if any of my patrons want them. I do a webtoon. I've always been afraid to send people stuff personally. I don't know why the idea of being responsible for shipping things to people freaks me out.
Oh, how cool!! I guess the market wasn't that much of a bust after all 😁 I never know if people will care to look me up afterwards or not so I'm glad you commented! It definitely looked like it could be a nice spot for events! One of the reasons I applied to this event is because it was called an "annual" holiday market, so I assumed they had done it before and it went well. Turns out, it was their FIRST annual holiday market lol. Will definitely be looking into more events that have less MLMs this year. Also, I was super intimidated about shipping at first too but now that I've done it a couple years, it's not so bad. So if that's something you're considering, I definitely say give it a go ☺️
Is this dumb thing a trend? "Hey, I screwed up my business and I'm closing my shop, but check out this link to get this cupom or check out this other thing to get a discount!" People fall for this scam? Are people that naive?
People make videos to share their journey while documenting it for themselves. Sometimes they gain enough subscribers to attract sponsors. It's not harmful for them or the viewers to take this opportunity. When people are interested in Skillshare there's certainly no connection to closing shop. It's out of interest in what skillshare is. It's not so much that people are naive, you're making spurious assumptions. That's neither smart nor respectful. The year's just started and you've already earned yourself a slap on the wrist.
@@LevLandau3 No. This is a trend, there are at least 20 recommendation videos like this. These people share that they close their shop or business and along the video they share afiliate links. There is a name for this, SCAM!
I really enjoy your videos! They are so inspiring and calming at the same time 🥰 Please don't feel obligated to answer to my comment 😊 Just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your work.
Thank you so much! That's so sweet ☺️ I think I was just overwhelmed with so much happening in December (including a video that went viral with 10mil views 😰) for comments but I am feeling better now 😂 and appreciate your comment 💛
You're doing a fantastic job! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
The first 500 people to use my link skl.sh/leighanncreates12241 will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare! 💛
Watching u be productive makes me feel productive, while sitting on the floor, in my pajamas, staring at my phone 😊
Happy to be of service 🫡
When people are saying *xbagy* ’s bag is a better option,I very much agree!
It's making me feel like I'm not being productive enough, while cooking dinner, and doing the dishes 😂

I enjoyed your video! Thank you❤❤
Feel this soo much!! In 2025 I’m really going to focus on what really matters- I can’t devide my attention to a million things anymore
I think it's a common problem for us creatives 🥲 there's just so much! Also, I've been loving your channel so much!!
I haven't done a market before but it seems crazy how much you need to remember to take, I know I'd be the worst at that 😂
I literally would not be able to do it without my many lists lol
I’m a leather artisan and I wear FAR too many hats!! And I only care about one! The crafting part
When people are saying *xbagy* ’s bag is a better option,I very much agree!
Do you think the diao laser worth it? I bought one from wecreat but it’s a 10w thinking I should of got the 20
Its norman Morrison at the lockheedmartin all over again.

How about selling your stuff directly to stores/artsy boutiques or putting them in consignment?
I do some wholesale online, but I still just haven't managed to get around to talking to more local boutiques about selling there. Hopefully for 2025!
@leighanncreates local arts and crafts fairs in major cities like LA San Francisco Miami New York, etc would also be great for you!
