Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

I was so sure Yzuei would be going supersonic but was surprised how slow he was going too
tbf, SM did have 2 freaking rocket boosters, and a shitton of space engine, which are the 2 strongest type of engines AFAIK

I suggest a Dogfight with perpendicular gravity. Instead of being pulled up or down, it's some arbitrary direction towards the horizon.
That would need a mod
That would be exactly the same as regular gravity except taking off which would be weird and their would be a wall to one side but you could easily fly away from it.
@@icanonlyhave50charactersin30not exactly but only if Gravity direction doesn’t affect how lift works, and if it doesn’t then one direction will grant more lift than the other and thus it will be funky
Have they done reversed gravity dog fights before? Is that actually* possible?
@@rycochu117 i think it would be the same as a normal dogfight but with flying upside down, an upside down map and annoying takeoff, im pretty sure about this and correct me if i’m wrong

I love the "loser makes a single change" rule :D
I also think that'd make a fun evolution challenge. Instead of everyone taking the winner's build, they keep their own build but loser gets to make a single change or upgrade and winner has to use their unmodified build.

When building with shields, go into the shields’ advanced settings and select the option that has them off by default. Then build the vehicle, wait a sec, and then go back into build mode. Shields shouldn’t be in your way now
That build was an absolute beast but the weight really killed it's maneuverability. A lot of people forget about inertia, just because you can turn quickly doesn't mean you can change direction quickly.
He wouldve been fine if he just went for gyros

Scrap man: it's probably not going to have any form. (Proceeds to make one of the best custom cockpits I've ever seen with the rest of the plane looking really good)
scrapman is like video game bosses which look terrifying but the player can defeat it
like retro airplane shooters where the boss goes back and forth with some bullet-hell attack
well he wasn't playing very well; it could've worked if he pulled vertical and extended more, using his power more than his manueverability...

@Scrapman, your issue with your tail being blown off is because the blocks are slightly sticking out of your shields. You tried shaping them too tightly.
7:43 Hey Scrapman, if you set the shields to their ‘off by default’ setting, it will hide them during build mode.
Edit: Also some sort of battle with rocket powered cars that are always active would be cool. That way, no breaks and chaos.
You havent done anything with submarines lately, that could be fun.

1 big predator vs 3 small agile fishes.
Ocean map, of course.
remember the game where you are a turret on one side of the map and your opponent was a turret on the other side of the map, you had to adjust your angle and take one shot at a time and then re-adjust to try and knock your opponent out. Each round you have a choice to either move your turret or shoot, you could always adjust angle in the fire stage. You guys should try a challenge like this if it can be done.

Long range targeting fights where both of them must fire at each other from far away using the new weapons in multiple environments. One on land, one underwater, one in the sky, and the last one in space.

I'd like to see this challenge translated to ground vehicles. It would be cool to see a couple massive super tanks do battle.

I think what happened with the wing damage was as they passed, yzuei fired a rocket inside of his shields and it hit the wing.
What about involution battle with land vehicles, where you start at max complexity but each round you reduce the complexity by 20%, not the block count. Meaning you can rearrange the entire build however you want, in addition you are allowed to switch any block with any other as long as they have the same complexity (meaning you can't take 3 blocks away for a shield etc.) or you can break the rules but you get a penalty : your total block count is reduced by 10%. So you can literally trade off between agility and tank-iness.
This is the most Ace Combat-esque battle I've ever seen you guys play this game yet lmao.
You should do a battle but every round you have to remove/replace blocks with a mire restricted selection!

That was fun to watch, it was a literal boss fight and Scrapman was the boss. There should be a rule though, no "levitating" stuff. Only aerodynamics.
I suggest the same thing but with watercrafts or vessels instead
What really adds complexity is Servos, suspension, and wheels, the game really stress when you use a lot of those.
i always love Yzuei and scrapman's dynamic with building, yzuei always builds some stylish looking and surprisingly effective builds, while scrapman is always "YOU FOOL, I HAVE 70 ALTERNATIVE SUPPORTS"
You should totally do max complexity tanks. I think that would be fun to watch.

That Dassault Rafale is incredible, a fine piece of French Engineering.
That was such a fun challenge, not only was it form vs function, but also it felt like a david vs goliath boss fight, very fun video!

You guys should do a dog fight of max complexity again but this time build each other's crafts, and put in one hidden sabotage on a random button that *might* get pressed during a battle.
30:27 you can see just barely the tip of the tails sticking out. I'm pretty sure what happened was it hit the exposed tail. The rocket explosion then went through the energy shield. Since it technically didn't hit a shield space. The shield fields were too close to the aircraft. I think the explosion splash damage also might just go through it as well.

7:40 you cann disable the shield in build editor by just disabling the "start on" option. Then you just have to enable them manualy when spawning or if your finished building enable the "Start on" option again

And yet again you guys prove that turn rate is the most valuable stat in a dogfight.
Hence my proposition: dog fights, but you can only fire your weapons after not turning for 1 second.

i'd honestly love to compete in a challenge like this with scrapman and yzuei. i'm still learning on how to record and get vireo's going. but i'll start making trailmakers vids soon and have some cool tips, tricks and strategies for a 700 comp dogfight challenge

32:48 I found while playing with the shields, the tighter they are the less effective they are, they need about 4 blocks or more from any part to stop damage.
Yzuei manages to hit himself, forgets about energy shields and spends an awful lot of complexity in the design instead of function and still manages to win more.
Possible idea: A Space Invaders-like fight where one Player fights in a Space Invaders-like Ground Vehicle that fires only into the Sky vs a sorta "Boss Space Invader" controlled by another Player and Logic'd Gimball Jets that bombs into the ground trying to defeat the Human Defender to open the way for Alien Invasion. :) (Guess losing over a Trillion Invaders to far fewer numbers of Defenders would get through to the Aliens that raw numbers wouldn't be enough eventually! ;P )

Clever of Yzuei to use skis to pad out his build, I was actually half-expecting one of you to do a meme build made entirely of skis just because of how insanely complex they are, lol (you only need 35 of them to hit the complexity limit)

other versions of maximum complexity challenges might be cool to see
great video like always but I have a suggestion for whenever you do dogfights. I think at the end of every dogfight you should swap builds and have a fight like that
7:40 you can actualy turn off the shields in build mode by disabling the active on start option. You just have to turn them on manualy or if you're finished building turn it back on
How about a sky fortress vs a supersonic fighter? The sky fortress is required to use max complexity and has a speed limit, while the fighter must break the sound barrier, but has a complexity limit.
And this is why non forward facing gunners are nice to have on heavy aircraft
You guys should do max complexity in the space sector next because I've realized you guys have rarely gone in the space sector.
I think the big bertha would work with some gyros and B-17 Style gun placement. Put them on the wing edge pointing directly left and right, and drop most of the shields for more thrust. Get like one shield bubble on the back, one on the front and one center. Just enough to take the edge off a frontal strike, armor more, if there's any complexity left.
You could always cut your throttle and pull back on your pitch and counter your yaw and roll to slow down and peel behind your pursuer. once you fall, you can go full throttle for a chase or keep a slow controlled decent to aim at the attacker
Pretty cool battle, although if I was designing a overpowered vehicle.🤔 I would have the cockpit in the center surrounded by onion layers. So will the first layers would be just regular shielding, I would might have some logic to control guns that lay between each layer. Like when one layer gets removed the logic activates another layer of more stronger guns which gets exposed, I would probably include energy shields in the process the place between the layers of regular shielding and the guns. Another words kind of a flying immovable fort. Which I think would kind of cool. Battling it out in 2 drifting overpowered Castles in the Sky. Create Hayao miyazaki's Castle in the Sky.
you should try making an aircraft that uses one creation to generate lift and control the aircrafts movement, and other person makes the powerplant and you attach them with anchors

You have to build planes to dogfight, but your guns can only face to either side, not forwards or backwards. As an added challenge have a round where you use the gunpowder cannons.

You used SPACESHIP engines on a BIPLANE. The Wright brothers would be so jealous. And confused
a dogfight, but the goal of the plane is twofold, a. beat the opponent, or b. if you get shot down, to have the cockpit make a survivable crash landing.
idea: max complexity, no rules, 3 rounds, after each round whichever part you use the most of get banned and you have to rebuild your aircraft without it.
same rule but for ships, sub's and ground vehicles.
Could you try replicating the command and conquer apocalypse tank? It’d be interesting to see it recreated
What about a lowest possible complexity build?
You can keep track of the complexity by adding a block of high complexity parts that you delete once you’re done building.

Btw I'm surprised you didn't consider putting any of your guns pointed backwards in such a tanky sluggish plane(on 1st iteration anyway), or to use gyro's to assist maneuvering.
It would be dope to see Scrap, Kan, Moonbo, Kosmo, and Yzuei have a Transforming Bot Battle (Transformers for short) with no block limit and no power core limit but a 25 power core WEAPON limit. (As in only 25 power corea for weapons)

You should have put the emp's on the same trigger as your regular guns specifically to avoid forgetting about them, but also to reduce how much you needed to think about during the battle.
But DAMN his plane was dense!
You guys should do a glider dog fight. Basically everyone fly to the top of the map then disconnects their engines. Could be a very interesting challenge if you do it on a map with things you'll have to fly around.

Scrap could have connected the tips of the top and bottom wings to prevent the cataclysmic failure and loss of guns easily…
Because then youd need to destroy both wings on one side and at that point he’d be screwed anyways

i recommend a dog fight but you switch bettween three planes every 30-50 seconds you switch mid air

Something I've noticed when you build biplanes for redundancy, you never connect your wings. Putting some pipes out towards the end or in multiple places along them would greatly increase the redundancy of the wings.
I've got a few suggestions:
1. Build challenge (on the ground) where the only way to turn is using steering servos - no hinges
2. Ground OP battle - like the Blimp one, one person has a big tank/vehicle and others build little "raiders" to stop the big one from getting somewhere
I have built an "OP Delivery Truck" and uploaded it to the workshop if you'd like some inspiration.
SCRAPMAN I commented this previosly but you should do a dogfight with yzuei where you both ahead of time choose the plane you want to use but you can only choose planes that were "failed" ,whether they were good ideas or not, you could also expand it to a callange where you both choose intercepter designs, or just a dogfight with designs only from the cold war era or something of the sort. (love your vids)

i think some kind of multiplayer plane-train fights would be cool,like make a plane or space ship type thing but that has links that add on each match like train segments,each round ur "ships gets longer or whatever and try to fight others along with the physcics of ur own ship
You guys should try Space Engineers! It's like this game but for adults, and there is no edge of the map! :)
I think that i have an actually good video idea. What if you put all the parts (except the important ones) in a wheel and for each player a certain number of parts get "banned" randomly. And you just re-roll and add more and more banned items or you start over again with new banned parts or maybe you could start with almost everything banned and then unbann randomly. I think that that would be cool. Anyhow i've been watching you for a while and you are one of my favorite yters to watch!

i think what makes the shields so unreliable is like, how fast you're both going. in all the videos i've watched, shields always seem to stop working properly when either the user or the projectile is goin at a certain speed. somethin about goin too fast makes projectiles seem to sometimes not register that they've gone past a shield
Multiplayer race (or King game) with an EMP detachable wheels. EMP only facing forward, so no shooting back. In king game, having crown you're not allowed to repair. In race, repair only when you spin out
