I also loved her in Sister Sister as Rhonda, and she was also in Save the Last Dance, as Nikki, and did a damn good job at making you hate her. lol She's the reason I liked Kendra so much. She just has a look, and adds a little something to the character that makes her badass, yet also childlike. I even like the accent, though it wasn't good. lol It made her even more endearing.

Josh whedon missed the mark hugely with a potential prequel series after season 5 ended - all the actors were young enough to do it then. If he ever made a prequel series exploring the Buffyverse characters it would have to be about past slayers. He could have created an amazing series about best loved characters before Buffy - like the master, the first slayer, Nikki wood, Giles and definitely Spike. The more time passes the less likely any original character/actors would appear in a prequel series - I personally cannot see a reboot working because the original characters/actors are the reason we loved the show for instance - I don’t think anyone could play Spike better than James Masters
Even if they kept the death scene, there were a couple of ways she could've came back, like after Buffy defeated Adam with the Slayer mojo, Kendra comes back stead of the first slayer. Or when all the slayers were unlocked in the series finale, it brings back dead slayers as well
Why did it take so many years for this question to just dawn on me: If Kendra was raised to be a Slayer and nothing but a Slayer, her whole life taken up with the task of fighting vampires and other evils, why is her make-up so impeccable?

Kendra’s lack of emotions majorly stunts her abilities as a slayer. Buffy is the most successful slayer because she’s valiant, empathetic, loyal, courageous, you name it. She worked with her friends and trusted her friends to help her kick demon ass, when the watchers council has always preached the slayer as being a lone wolf. Kendra’s skill is more knowledge based, where as Buffy’s is purely following her natural, gut instincts. I don’t they needed to kill her, just taper her story off in another direction so that she could move on. Like maybe she could’ve gone to Cleveland in season 5 or 4 because then that helps to tie up the series finale, seeing as linking up with Kendra is a viable option.

I liked Kendra. I wish they could’ve given her some decent character development and have her bond with Buffy, I think Buffy was iffy about her due to their contrasting ideas on what a true Slayer should be. Buffy recognizes that Kendra is an excellent fighter, but tells her she has no imagination. Buffy knows how to manipulate her environment to protect herself (she can make a weapon out of almost anything), maybe she could’ve taught Kendra to think outside the box a little more? As for Faith, the idea of a trio would be awesome. All three of them have so much they would be able to have taught one another as well as have each other’s backs. They really threw Kendra’s character away for a cheap kill. I wish Kendra would’ve gotten the kill on Drusilla and maybe have to have dealt with Spike trying to kill her? It’d be a neat idea!

Diversity hires didn’t exist in the 90s. That only became a thing in the 2010s. If the show was being made today, Kendra would have completely taken over the show and became the title character “Kendra the Vampire Slayer”, and Buffy would never have come back.
