As someone who was there (in the now deleted twitter thread) when ChaosX was trying to figure out where he wanted to take Silver in this update, seeing these upgrades was just.. a dream come true. He somehow found a way to include ALL of the community suggestions in a way that feels like an organic extension of Silver's moveset, and I couldn't be more grateful. If your reading this, thank you so much for all your hard work 🙏🏾 *Couple of things I want to note:* I really like how these upgrades follow the same naming scheme as Silver's "Heart of Wind" in retail 06. It's just one of those details that helps them feel like a more natural fit for the character (similar to how Shadow's new upgrade is yet another Memory Shard). Each one implements at least one ability the character had in his other appearances (the spin jump from Sonic Rivals/Jump/Runners, the Psychic Knife from Generations, and his ESP powers from Rivals/Runners). The design of the upgrades all tie back to Silver/06 in some way. The *lotus* represents how Silver grew more determined to save his world after witnessing the beauty of the past (in the cutscene before Dusty Desert). The *flame* is reminiscent of Solaris (fitting of the stage), and represents how Silver has begun to take control of his own path. Choosing to work together with Shadow to find answers himself, insteading of blindly seeking the words of another. And of course, the *sigil* harkens back to several things: the way Silver's power has always been tied to rune-like symbols, it coalesces into the form of a sun because it came from Iblis' flame (belonging to Soleanna's "eternal sun god"), etc. But ultimately, it represents how Silver has finally achieved the power to destroy the veil of darkness over his world once and for all. He's "awakened" his true potential, which is how he gets his ESP powers in cannon.
And it was all the experiences he's learned he is more powerful than he was ever before. Truly embracing the different sides of his past, present, and his future and become someone that he never did imagine before. Him with all that power to protect his future and everyone else's future in the process.
I think the inspiration was more in line with upgrades found in SA2, but I'm curious: when did KH1 ever have upgrades located in the stages like this? 🤔 I thought most permanent abilities came from leveling up.
@@DLxxx Kingdom Hearts 1 doesn't have "Upgrades" on the stages(there is the High Jump ability inside a chest, but it's not even Hidden), but You can interact with some parts of the stages to reach items, and some unique weapons I grew with those games and i just felt like i was a kid when i saw this things
Yo stelmo I just finished getting every upgrade I never got the memory shard lite in the shadow release so mastering his gameplay and beating every stage was really fun
yea I thought I hated shadow but I guess not anymore but still hate kingdom valley though a falling castle killed me when I was on the hover car and when I was wall jumping
Silver no doubt plays much better than Retail 06, especially with these upgrades, but am I the only one who finds throwing objects less useful than in retail? The lock on seems more like a suggestion a lot of the time, and I often see even charged throws hit an enemy or destructible object but do no damage. Relying on the other powers seems much more reliable, and is often an instant kill anyway. Not sure if I'm that impressed with the Sigil of Awakening, it seems a little underwhelming compared to Super Sonic and Uninhibited Shadow, at least on first glance. Maybe I just haven't found all of it's applications yet, but it definitely doesn't seem as straightforward as it's counterparts. Since it's duration can't be extended after it's activated, it's also more difficult to experiment with.
Yeah, I would definitely love it if the duration could be extended even if the maturity meter drained faster in exchange... on some unrelated note, I kinda wish the psychic knife halted Silver's vertical movement until the animation was over, to make the thing easier to aim against airborne enemies, and using it multiple times allowing Silver to hover until he stops attacking.

the addition of a spin jump for silver is everything😭 the silver story is what i’ve always wanted to see for silver game play, it’s so damn fun!
the spin jump reaction was all i needed
should be default moveset from his debut
These upgrades are just perfect for Silver
That sound that plays when you pick up the upgrades sounds like the KH 2 "item get!" sound effect, interesting
I just felt like a kid once again with the Upgrade Location stuff
It's like something from Kingdom Hearts 1

Doesn't it suck that the speeding section of wave ocean bug got fixed if you haven't noticed I already tried to do it

Does silver have that throw all move in this game?
Yes he does. It functions the same as in retail '06. Just double-tap RT when grabbing things, then hold and release X to throw all.
@@ACGamer123 That's cool, I didn't see it so I thought it wasn't there. Probably because it wasn't very speedrun friendly.
Can you make a guide to s ranking silver stages please?
Maybe he can do it, but Tropical Jungle is really tough one
we will get there lol. I have a massive backlog to get through
@@StelmoShow I complete TJ after 20 tries coz it's hard to get 50k points.
