I went to 2.2 vanquish wheels but I stretched the 1.9 tires over the 2.2 wheels, super easy to do and the wheel size difference from 1.9 to 2.2 is only about 3/8" or so and really makes a huge difference in looks, the 1.9's on 2.2 wheels really make your build pop
I had originally lifted mine with some aluminium lifts with the stock shocks, but ended swapping out for all suspension lift in the form of set of AX10 Ridgecrest big bores (with soft springs), Same lift but all suspension, lots more travel , and IMO a much better ride on the trails , and more articulation on the rocks, seems to be a good balance for all around off-roading. Very affordable upgrade as well, $16 bucks and purchases with extra part trees as well.
Glad you cleared up the Rim size VS Tire Size for folks I recently got the Parma 57 chevy body cut the bed off for a truggy setup an after much trimming decided Im gonna try a lift kit to try an buy myself some clearence (running 1.9 Proline Interco Super Swamper XLs Which are only a little bigger (taller and wider) than my stock trepadors but the 57 has some issues with em so we will see if the lift kit helps Enough to stop trimming at this point
Thanks PTY! There's lots of size confusion and non-regulation items that need to be somewhat conformed in RC. Examples: 200/190mm bodies for 1/10th scale touring with offset wheels spacing, The Scale truck wheel vs tire sizes, even down to JST plugs on Lipos, Splines on Servo horns, etc. Thanks for watching!
Awesome Bronco.....I had to comment because I actually drove real 69' Bronco 302 in that exact color combo - back when they were affordable ( 80's ). Now I just drive the RC Bronco....much easier and cheaper to work on 😎👍 Thanks for the helpful video !
Great video! another suggestion, if someone didnt want to purchase a lift, and wasnt happy with the stock shocks, you could always buy 10-15mm longer shocks and that would give you the clearance.
Yeah, the 2.2's really give a bit better clearance like I was used to on my Wraith. The Rock Beasts are great tires. The 2 stage foams that are included are a bit better than the Pro-Line memory foams. Traction and scale looks of the rock beasts are second to none
don't forget o check the backspacing/offset of the wheel you want to use I mounted a set of stock axial 2.2 Ripsaw on walker evans wheels and they rub the lower suspension links while turning
What an awsome rig ! Mint ! So potentialy if your body is small and theres plenty of gaurd clearance you could just put bigger shocks in rather than a lift kit ? ..sorry fairly new to the crawling game..great vid 👍
I was just thinking the xtra 5mm would be about what was needed. and may gain some more flex while I was at it with longer shocks. I'm hoping it will clear without either.
My scx10 has a shortened run time on a 5000mah NimH battery and keep wondering why it suddenly had reduced run time, I use a 45 turn burshed motor from RC4wd, stock gears on both axles and transmission, upgraded servo horn steering links and knuckles and use 1.9 sized wheels but their bigger then stock ones and I have 100mm alloy shocks. I foundout my driveshaft creates resistance cause rubbintg on a mount screw for the stock rock sliders. ( cause fornt driveshaft is covered in scratches and by using bigger tyres I altered my gearing. so thanks for thinking that a lift kit would be a good investment but I can't prioritise that first cause my rear axle is falling apart cause all screws are being held by a single thread don't know how my SCX 10 deadbolt holds together when its shaking all the time and I struggle to get strong transmitter signal.
What ESC/motor is in this truck? And are you running 2s or 3s with it. I wanna run a brushed system just have to make sure it has lipo cut off. That'd for all the great videos and always answering my questions :)
You're gaining more ground clearance by using portals and using larger diameter tires. Keep in mind when this video was shot, portals practically didnt exist in the scale world (except the GMade R1, I believe)
Nice! I loved my 2.2s on my SCX10, and you covered pretty much everything you need to do. (I changed my motor to a 35t) What do you think about the Rock Beasts?
E Peterson I have a video on that too...👍😃. With VP, I’d check their site daily....they sell out quick because people are in the same boat as you. Even used VP wheels are selling at almost retail.
+The RCNetwork fair enough. got the same plate but I got my rx on top and esc on a side mount bracket I made. works out pretty good. like the rig. would be sick with a interior in it.
My scx10 is all stock just bought some 2.2 tires and rims. My question is do I need to change the pinion or spur gear? I really want to make it the best crawler I can on budget. don't really care about top speed I have a erevo brushless edition for that .thanks in advance
I've got 1.9 rock beasts. just orders 2.2 flatlines for my scx10ii I have a ram body and some clearance. but if i need some lift should I use a lift kit like you did or I can get 95mm shocks for same price.stock are 90mm.
It's not so much the suspension (shocks) it's spacing the tires away from the body with out having to hack up the body too much. The lift kits helps with that leaving the same size shocks
This was the vid i was looking for thx so much finally found a video that was clear on the difference between the 2.I noticed the side rails you had on your rig what were those they still around
If you was to use a interior for this body how would you mount the rear to the body post with an interior. I have this body and PL interior but need an idea to mount it to the rear body post.
Phernandez0803 great question.....You’re still gonna have to use some sort of body mount, but if the interior is mounted fairly good, you could just mount to the rear deck of the interior and maybe cut out the (and hinge) the rear tailgate window to access the body clips - the new Axial Blazer had the optional rear top with that feature.....take a look at one of those for an idea
@@TheRCNetwork Thanks bro for the insights on going about this. Just need to find some small hinges for my window. I have my interior pretty snug on the body, might use some velcro to keep it tight.
Hello...new in tire department. I've been reading a lot about 1.9 and 2.2 tires. And often find that most people prefer 2.2. If that's the case, why even bother with 1.9 tires? Would anyone care to explain? Thanks. Very confused!!! lol
+HalalYes Keep in mind that 1.9 and 2.2 refers tot he wheel diameter. Not all 1.9 tires are the same height, nor are the 2.2's for the SCX10 class of vehicles, 1.9" wheels just look more scale and somewhat realistic. I believe I heard that the 1.9" wheel with a standard sized 1.9" tire replicates a 44" tire in the 1:1 world. Some people do add 2.2" wheels/tires to the SCX10 and it does look good in some respects, and does have some performance +/-. On the positive side, you have more tire/grip, etc. On the negative side, your rig is now standing taller and does push your center of gravity higher, which will cause additional rollovers. If you decide to go 2.2 or 1.9, always look at the tire heights, they're all very different
I have the scx10 deadbolt. got some 2.2 ripsaws and its hitting the shocks when turning. how can I space them out a bit to avoid scrubbing and jamming up? I have the lift kit aswell but not installed at the moment as I've gone back to using standard 1.9s until issue is solved.
The Truck is an Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho. The Body and wheels/tires can be found at Pro-Line racing. Check out this video and the links in the video description for the exact items: The RCNetwork - SCX10 Full Wrap Up Review
It's funny how those giant 2.2" tires are the same diameter as most 1.9" tires....if you watched the video. If I wanted more "flecks" I would have installed 120mm shocks, which I didn't 😂
Nice!
I picked up some RC4WD 2.2 bead locks with some Rock Crushers and they are massive. Its even on a 1/8th scale 3d printed Land Rover.
Yeah, not all 2.2's are the same....varying heights
I had originally lifted mine with some aluminium lifts with the stock shocks, but ended swapping out for all suspension lift in the form of set of AX10 Ridgecrest big bores (with soft springs), Same lift but all suspension, lots more travel , and IMO a much better ride on the trails , and more articulation on the rocks, seems to be a good balance for all around off-roading. Nice! I've always been a fan of Broncos - the 1:1 ones!
Great video! another suggestion, if someone didnt want to purchase a lift, and wasnt happy with the stock shocks, you could always buy 10-15mm longer shocks and that would give you the clearance.
Thanks! running vids on the Bronco are coming!

Those flatirons definitely look better on the Bronco then the stock wheels & tires......definitely will be my choice for mine
Looks really good I like the blue on that body.
Thanks Jacob! It tired to model it after the old Ford blue
don't forget o check the backspacing/offset of the wheel you want to use
I mounted a set of stock axial 2.2 Ripsaw on walker evans wheels and they rub the lower suspension links while turning
Yeah, I am running the Vanquish Stage 1 kit for the SCX10 on this rig and had to space out the stock and RC4WD wheels to clear the high angle knuckles
Good catch Tanner. That is an option as well!
i thought of doing that was well, but I was doing a 1 in all type rig. Where I could convert it from 1.9 to 2.2 by changing the body and wheels/tires
What an awsome rig ! Mint ! So potentialy if your body is small and theres plenty of gaurd clearance you could just put bigger shocks in rather than a lift kit ? ..sorry fairly new to the crawling game..great vid 👍

Thaknks I didn't know about this lift kit . It's a great idea
good information, needed this before I made the swap
Glad to get you some good info

It's a Tekin FXr/Tekin Pro 45t brushed motor on 3s. Great combo! Thanks for watching, Matt!
What about using portal axles instead of the lift kit to get the tires more clearance from the body?
You're gaining more ground clearance by using portals and using larger diameter tires. Keep in mind when this video was shot, portals practically didnt exist in the scale world (except the GMade R1, I believe)

What do you think about the Rock Beasts?
May have to do that or stretch 1.9 tires over 2.2 wheels if vanquish doesn’t start putting out 1.9 wheels faster. I’ve been waiting over a month now
E Peterson I have a video on that too...👍😃. With VP, I’d check their site daily....they sell out quick because people are in the same boat as you. Even used VP wheels are selling at almost retail.
Awesome video! Where did you get the windshield sticker???
Matthew Kesner III RC4WD
What rock sliders are those?
Thanks!
sure there is another vid for this but why did you put your electronics on the battery plate? just curious.
+Joe Pansacula I run the small 2200mah batteries and the way the tray was, it made more sense to put the electronics lower
+The RCNetwork fair enough. got the same plate but I got my rx on top and esc on a side mount bracket I made. works out pretty good. like the rig. would be sick with a interior in it.
+Joe Pansacula I would do things a lot different now though.....
My scx10 is all stock just bought some 2.2 tires and rims. My question is do I need to change the pinion or spur gear? I really want to make it the best crawler I can on budget. don't really care about top speed I have a erevo brushless edition for that .thanks in advance
I believe, if you leave your current gearing, your truck will be a bit slower anyways from the bigger tires. I left the same on mine and it was fine
This is the same as a Real Truck Conversion, but in miniature. Think that way and making the Lift Kit yourself is E Z.
I've got 1.9 rock beasts. just orders 2.2 flatlines for my scx10ii I have a ram body and some clearance. but if i need some lift should I use a lift kit like you did or I can get 95mm shocks for same price.stock are 90mm.

Will wheel hubs from vanquish work? It pushes your wheel outward a little bit.
+Yunchuan Li Yep, they'll do the trick!
This was the vid i was looking for thx so much finally found a video that was clear on the difference between the 2.I noticed the side rails you had on your rig what were those they still around
Perfect! Glad to help! They might be.....got them from Rc4WD
Ill check it out thx and your much welcome.

What about the hubs ? The 2.2 wheel has the 6 bolts to the hub then the axle.
+Richie Dillon Not sure I know what you mean? The Pro-Line wheels have molded inserts for the 12mm hexes
Thank you after farther review I had wheels for the wraith 6 lug
Great info, thanks
Can I put 1.9 scx10 tire on 1.9 scx10 II rim
Awesome, Thank you!
Ok thanks

The lift kit will help, but you may need to look into the wheel offset or wider hexes
Eddie Burr if you're running wheels with an slw style hub you can get 2 or 3 mm spacers, that might give you the clearance you need
what size rock beasts where those that u briefly put up?
98greensi They were 1.9 Rock Beasts
thank you realized I had the wraith wheels 6 lugs lol
What body is that? nice rig, subscribe
+gza 808 It's a 1973 Ford Bronco Body fro Pro-Line racing. Not sure if it's still avail, check my vid description for a link
Nice tip
Thanks Ethan!
Where did you get the body
Old Pro-Line body.....I believe they discontinued it.
would the body fit on a slash 4x4
No, but this one will: www.prolineracing.com/bodies/1981-ford-bronco-clear-body/
With the bigger tires i think i can keep up with my Kraton...Not what I'm looking for. Need to figure out how to slow it down
Nice vid. :-)
Where can i bought that car and wheels

What brand are the body mounts?
