    As an inshore fishing senior citizen with limited mobility, unable to go up and down stairs to access the beach on much of Florida's east coast which minimizes where I can fish. I'm very limited to the amount of gear I can bring to surf fishing. I'm an insider member and Salt Strong tips & tutorials are a great help when deciding the minimum correct gear to bring. Thank you! 👍👍

      Bless you for this kind offer. If I ever come to your area, I'll take you up on it. Travel is difficult for me. I found a few boat launch sites on the Intra Coastal within 20 miles that have very small boardwalks along the water and parking lots fairly level that I can manage on a good day. I wish the state and/or counties would make more handicap accessible places to fish from. Thanks again. You're a real class act.@@patrentfrow

    As for rods go, just starting out beach fishing -- you can't beat the 12' ugly stick. It was like $80 bucks, slap your reel of choice on, and you've got a solid beach fishing setup that can reach the backside of most any sandbar.

    Bluefish up to 3 pounds, if bled and iced make for good eating. Any size blue turns out well when smoked! Yes, you will find blues on menus in NJ restaurants.

    I suggest you discuss proper placemrnt of the rod holder and setting the drag so the fish does not pull the rod over. I use "bad billy's beater blocks" to set the rod holder firmly without damaging the rod holder.

    • @Saltstrong

      The bars in Tampa aren't as far out... often just 100 to 200 ft out.

    Great video and it looked like you had a good fishing day. Any thoughts on the static weight location vs a sliding weight by chance?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  11 месяцев назад

      Given that the current/waves are applying constant pressure on the line, it seems like a sliding weight would just get penned to the bottom to essentially be the same as a static weight.

      Hello and thank you for watching, with that said I am afraid your timeline is off. I have lived in Florida over 30 years and have fished the entire state during that time frame, and the Space Coast for 9 years now. I also grew up on the SC Coast surf fishing the exact same way. Thanks again for watching and have a great weekend
