When I primed my engine and it started then stopped after the prime burned off. I took the bowl off and sprayed carb cleaner into the jet like you showed and it worked! Thank you.
I ran across this on a neighbor's snow blower, and I cleaned the carburetor out completely and put it back together and it still hunted and surged. So I pulled the carburetor back off and dug a little deeper only to find the isolator between the head and the carburetor was missing a couple chunks out of it. This was on a brand new snow blower , that had never run . I ordered a new isolator and installed it and problem solved . Great try on removing the bowl to try to clean the carb Robby , I have done that with great success. Take care and catch you on your next one sir.
Is gas freely flowing from the gas tank to the carburetor? Maybe something is blocking the line. If plenty of gas is getting to the carburetor then something is still clogged in the carburetor.
Ran in to this issue the other day after a snow storm. Drained the carb first and a little debris and water came out. Put fresh gas in but still surged and would almost stall going through the heavy snow. It would idle perfectly so I’m going to try the shortcut first. But thanks for the video showing how to get to the carb if I have to take it apart. 👍
Thanks, the shortcut didn't work, so i took the carb apart and now the snow blower runs great! Funny thing is I didn't see any obvious clog. @@small_engine_repair
Yeah sometimes carburetors are a mystery. My rule is to clean them by hand first. If it does not run right after that I put them in a sonic cleaner. If it does not right after that then I just replace the carburetor. @@ryan-uz1rw
When it surges like that it is usually the idle circuit , which is the jet that is on the top of the carb . These carbs run so lean the you need both circuits working at full throttle to give enough fuel . This is also why you need fresh gas low octane from old gas it will not run on . During the off season the fuel should be drained to avoid these problems .
Definitely could cause issues. I had another blower in yesterday where the old gas was causing it to just run like crap. Drained it, added fresh gas and now runs without issues.
The guy is posting a video trying to help. Why bust his chops? Thank you....you helped me fix my exact Craftsman snow blower....and I wore rubber gloves because you did!!

Glad you got it running.
This is the best video ever in the history of RUclips. I salute you sir🫡🫡🫡
Thank you :-)

Got to love it when someone is putting something together and does not notice broken parts, or they notice, they just do not care.
@@small_engine_repair I totally agree with you .
What is an isolator?
I ran through this and it appears to have helped as it fires up but only runs like 3-4 seconds and dies. So it only starts if I prime it…then dies.

Great video, just what I needed. Very clear instructions.
Glad it helped

Great Video! I hate these how finicky these emissions carbs are compared to the old or better stuff like a Briggs or Tecumseh.
Yeah I love the older Tecumseh carbs.
U saved me a lot of money boss
Awesome glad the video helped you out.
i'll try this
Let me know how it goes.

Agree. I tell everyone to drain the gas before letting it sit for long periods of time.
@@small_engine_repair I drained mine and still having issue smh
That surge sounds like there is water in the fuel,or cheap gas.

Forget the Shortcuts do it the right way I take it off
I just like showing different possible ways of fixing something.
The shortcut got me working again.
A real mechanic doesn’t wear rubber gloves anybody that wears rubber gloves afraid to get their hands dirty
You got me. I am afraid :-)

That has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard
A real mechanic wouldn't need to watch a "how to" video.. Sooooo,, what brought you to this video?
I’m a real mechanic: I wear gloves every day AND I’m here on RUclips. 🤷🏻♂️ don’t forget the golden rule
