We live in a world full of challenges. Inequality, global warming and injustice are just some of the problems we see and face every day. The sheer volume can leave us feeling hopeless in addressing these challenges.
This is part of the baggage we all carry. We backpack through life with our concerns and our struggles, both personal and collective. But where some feel a burden, others discover their strength and find inspiration to take action.
That’s the power of volunteering: the power to choose to improve the world we live in, no matter what.
A power that is within every one of us. That we carry with us wherever we go...
Come what may.
When we choose to use our potential and take action, we make a commitment every single day. We commit to making the world a better place. This commitment is deeply challenging, but it is one we are determined to keep because we know it’s a worthy undertaking.
Today we celebrate that determination and every volunteer who, despite everything, doesn’t give up. Those mindful of their surroundings who contribute however they can. Those who keep fighting for a better world and find others just like them, backpacking along the way.
Because each of us can make a difference. No matter how small it may seem, every action counts. And that is the power of volunteering! Imagine if everyone did.
