@@PD-we8vf there are hundreds of roads on hills, sometimes it gets so bad, they just close a lot of hills, because the sanding trucks can’t even go down them without sliding, and cars parked on both sides of the roads.

@@micahgreene4573exactly, I work at a hospital it is almost required to come in even if it’s snowing. I had coworkers that had to sleep at work because of the snowstorm.

This was last year. The whole west side of the state was covered in a 3/4 inch sheet of ice on Christmas Eve

The life lesson of this video is, do not live anywhere where there’s cold icy conditions.
Have lived in Seattle 40 plus years. This is the only ice storm we’ve had in that time. But to be fair it was predicted and folks should have stayed home. But the city is nothing but hills. If you don’t have a garage and have to park on the street, your car is still vulnerable even if you are sensible and staying inside.
I remember the time when spiked tires were allowed,you could drive as fast as you liked without having any problems

....more importantly, no walking on the icy street. That person was so lucky the car stopped just before rolling over him or her.

A number of years ago in Quebec and I don't remember the days, but I remember on extreme winter weather facts it told about 50 DAYS STRAIGHT OF FREEZING RAIN!!! Also they had temperatures down to 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO AS WELL!!! If you were out in the boondocks or in countryside you better have a chimmey, firewood handy to use, and a supply of food.
i remember this whole incident clearly, as a seattlite. we could barely drive anywhere with all the ice- my friend even posted a video of them ice skating on the road, which was iced-over enough to do that. winters used to be so mild here!

Well, being from the Southern USA, I never understood why this happens. In all of the Northern States, every winter, there is always tons of snow ❄ and ice 🧊 everywhere. It's not like this only happens every 100 years or something. It seems like if you live in a city, you know where the steep grade streets are located and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out if there ice, then you're not going to stop. And if the roads are steep, the only thing you can do is Kiss Your A _ _ Goodbye 👋 🎶
NW wa drivers are stupid lol. Especially in the city. Since it is mild weather here 99% of the year, few have experience driving in bad conditions. that's how you get situations like these because for some reason ppl forget icy incline + toyota prius = bad time
Charleston got a rare 1/2inch of snow and they shut the city down, even the Navy, Air Force and Army bases. Being from K.C. KS I was utterly stunned and laughed, there was no ice. We drove around felt like ghost town.😊😅
Where I live in Canada, snow tires are mandatory as of Dec 1st.

I'm confused, all the blizzards and horrible ice freezes of the 60s and 70s... why don't these homeowners go ou and salt the road in front of their home... if each one of them did this it could've saved all the cars on the street. The salt breaks through the ice and also gives gravel type grip for tires

My Mom got Studded tires in December and had them taken off in March. I cannot remember a single accident she was ever in. Then in 70's they decided studded tires messed up roads too much and outlawed them. NE Ohio wintets. Brutal Lake effect..

Keep your foot off the brakes on Icy roads; that’s when you’ll slide. Winter tires are a necessity to drive on winter roads; 4 seasons don’t react the same way nor do summer tires. I live in Quebec Canada we are use to this.

The authorities in charge of the roads failed them. They should have been proactive before the weather 😢!
And the funny thing is whenever an icy road pileup like this occurs, you get a bunch of pissed off motorists all pointing the finger at each other when they're all equally at fault. You drove on the road willingly, either pay for the repair yourself or live with the damage. I wouldn't surrender one shred of personal or insurance information in a situation like this.
With this ice condition don't drive. It's very dangerous and causes accidents. Prevent this from happening.

Never drive on ice covered roads your car turns into a sled brakes only make you slide in that direction your wheel was at when you hit the brakes. Snow gives you traction but when its just iced covered streets never drive.

Difficult to avoid when it's clear at lunch time and there's 6 inches of snow on the ground by quitting time. It can happen in Seattle where the temp can drop 40° in a couple of hours.
