I've already told my entire shop "I will only be printing cards from this point forward". WoTC pissed me off with dnd, but I bought mtg product cuz I liked it. Now the rules committee just lost WoTC a customer entirely.
LMAO so on MTG website and if you look at Commander Fest and they have Jeweled Lotus on the face of commander fest. These guys are fools. I can't wait until they take off the ban.
If bans are going to be selectively ignored, why not just do away with them all together? I have a Turn 1 Blightsteel with Haste and Myriad combo that just needs a Black Lotus and a handful of OG moxes to make happen. It's totally fair, because without a ban list, everyone can play that combo with the right four or five colour commander, and with Commandwr being a proxy friendly format now, everyone can afford to run Moxes and Lotus to make it happen. By the way, I also want to have a Rule 0 talk with the table about changing the mulligan rules to free mulligans for no land hands, because people shouldn't be punished for drawing badly and it makes for a more fair start. And with those two small changes you can run a deck that will always draw the winning hand because it doesn't need land and you can combo win on turn one every game.
All of them were chase cards in their respective sets - that's the point (I assume). The RC want to show Wizards that throwing in one chase Rare/Mythic and then doubling the price of a box is not a healthy way forward. That, or the cynical thing MAN said ...
Hahaha no reason to have a billion copies of the card. Sucks for the stores though. But the people with every deck having those cards idc honestly. Only thing that sucks is jeweled lotus bc it was the chase card in COMMANDER MASTERS. 😅
Not really? Why would people stop buying sealed products for commander because older expensive cards got banned? Also the people who lost money from this could’ve proxied from the start, and the LARGE majority of people who did proxy don’t care other than the facts their decks will be weaker
I haven't paid for official MTG cards in over 3 years now. Proxies cost me about $30 per Commander deck and that means I can also play ANY card ever made. This is also how 90% of my play group feel about it. F the "Rule Committee" - Don't need them, don't want them!
I can’t believe they reprinted Mana Crypt as a special insert in Lost Caverns of Ixalan and it’s banned. People cracked tons of product and spent tons of money on just those versions in the last year. It’s disgusting. Let alone Dockside and Jeweled Lotus was released two years ago in Double Masters 2022.
I agree with you. If you are playing for fun and not doing it to participate in tournaments then, if you spend money on real cards well, sucks to be you for trying to show of your fake friends a 1,000$ piece of paper card. This was a necessary evil that need it to be done a long time ago.
When I asked about the relationship between the RC and WotC as well as the allegations of insider trading to the RC members on their Discord. Rather than address that, they banned me.
WotC should have never cooperated with the RC. They should have just made their own format, identical to EDH, where they would have the say over which cards should be banned. Allowing a specific play group to decide that, just because they invented the damn format is the most stupid decision ever.
I've been playing commander 10 years and mtg 30. I've quit every format due to bans. Edh my last safe haven gone. F this game , ima sell most of it all 😅 oldschool only now 😆 8 mana crypts , 7 docksides to satisfy my decks . This is nuts , we need a cedh rc 🤡 💩
that could be the solution, separate banlist. But I am afraid that could backfire hard. I only have one Gaeas craddle, But I can see they banning the reserved list from EDH and boom a masive devaluation.
I own a dockside and i felt that has a larger impact than Mana Crypt because it acts as a springboard to much bigger plays. Anyone who plays a dockside is saying "i am starting to go for the win". Mana crypt and sol ring is in the same category. How about reprinting Mana Crypt as a common instead?
I owed a dockside (that I never used because it always felt icky) and I agree with the bans. I'm tired of people thinking they are entitled to make money off the game. Wizards made the product, so they are, everyone else is a consumer.
I have my Mana Crypt book promo, from back when I read the first few books. This sucks............ lots!!!!!! At this point I feel like I should just sell most my old cards, while they still have some resale value.
Sitting on 1 and this is why. WoTC has been non-stop banning every card that they lose pricing control of Jeweled lotus, Grief, Dockside, Mana Crypt, etc.
Yea a lot of YT channels have already brought up splitting cEDH from the norm. It would suck but I'm for it. @Mcfarad595 they were. Major card sellers get advanced knowledge of bans and also spoilers of sets earlier than anyone else. They call them 'god sheets.' If the major sellers had to take this big of a loss, they wouldn't exist.
I sadly bought a Jeweled Lotus for $80 a few weeks ago after looking at it for months. RIP... However, Rule 0 for the win in my play group. What's next? Mox Amber? Arcane Signet? Fetch Lands? Dual Lands? There are WAY worse "explosion" cards out there that take half your life, that mill half your deck, or that make you sac half your permanents. Those should have been the targets of the bans imo.
Not banning sol ring because it's "too iconic" is so dumb. and the one ring STILL not banned? I would almost say the one ring is worse than mana crypt and I see it WAYYYYY more often. I own a mana crypt that I don't even play it just sits on my shelf in a card protector case for later in life and now that's been taken out of my hands. there definitely should be high and low power ban lists for commander
Besides being iconic, Sol Ring is cheap to get. You get it in every commander precon. I honestly wonder if price was an actual consideration. WOTC controls the price by supply, RC does not. Those were format-defining cards that were severly undersupplied for the reprint equity of WOTC. Well, now their reprint equity goes to garbage.
Not gonna lie i almost bought one this morning until i stumbled on a lotr bundle for less then 150 on ebay 🤣 mostly dodged a bullet here too as i sold most my cards last year and only have a single dockside in my krenko deck 😂
CEDH players are the one’s able to buy loads of your product, Wizards. You screw CEDH players over, we’re not buying any more boxes. We’re not buying any more product in general. You reprinted a $250 card less than a year ago, and banned it. You’ve lost all trust.
There’s no point in buying new sets. Proxy anything you want to play with, because wizards will either print a set high enough in power level that they’ll have to ban cards (jeweled lotus, hullbreacher, Nadu, etc.) or they will make the cards so low in power level that they never do anything meaningful on the secondary market (Bloom-burrow/MKM). This stings and I only owned 1 media book promo crypt and 1 foil jeweled lotus, printing the lotus reeks of a cash grab now in hindsight.
Bloomburrow had SEVERAL cards that hit CEDH play. Bloomburrow actually spawned a whole new deck. Also while maybe CEDH doesn't play a ton of mkm cards. MKM actually had some good stuff in it for battle cruiser level.
The point is, how does this continue? Do I sell my entire collection? How sure do I have that they won't ban Mana Vault, Mox Diamond, LED, Gaea's Cradle... etc, etc, etc? Is it time to jump from the ship? I think so.
@@schorltourmaline4521 Nobody said it was boring (before the ban), but if you spend months or years trying to get cards and then they get banned, and you even run the risk of being banned from so many others that cost you a lot of time and money to get, this is going in the wrong direction. ..
Seriously, they leave in chrome mox, mox diamond, LED, spirit guides, etc etc, and take out Dockside, the card that makes red decks playable? Absolute garbage.
And yet, they DID. the REDUCED the number of options of fast mana available, thereby decreasing the consistency at which any one player can go off. Not banning Sol Ring makes the MOST sense, since it is widely available to ALL players.
@@Xoulrath_ And banning Sol Ring makes almost every new player's introductory deck (a precon) illegal. If you ban Sol Ring, every deck will have a card that needs to be swapped out. I think they will stop printing it in precons and, when they do, it will be about two years until a ban.
@@garryhewitt1053 Look at the price of the banned cards on TCGPlayer. A few days before the ban their prices started plummeting. This is not tin-foil-hat moment.

good luck with that, a game as dense as mtg need rules committee. with an evolving meta and as many new cards that come out it would be a mess without one. cant just pick and choose, imagine if other competitive games did that.
@@andrewsummit8314 Commander _doesn't_ have an evolving meta, my guy, and that's the problem, Rule 0 prevents this. I could waffle stomp most pods with some propper mono white aggro, but no one's gonna let me play Armageddon, right? 5 Color, on the other hand, only had like four banned cards total, because Battle of Wits with a 250 card minimum deck size is a bad idea. And, when i got into it, I waffle stomped the meta with GoblinCohort.dec, I thrashed people running the Power 9 with a 2/2 that can't attack or block. That's what a healthy evolving meta looks like.
So when does the cEDH RC get formed and make these legal? Banning them in “casual commander” is a great idea. Maybe Wizards will start giving real support to the xEDH format including competitions with prize support.
Hi commander players, please learn to play 60 card formats now so that those formats don’t die. We’ve been here for a very long time and we would really like your company.
I've spent plenty of time digging into markets, and I have a very big concern with the rules committee that everyone should be asking. What safeguards are in place for the rules committee to not manipulate the price of cards for personal gain or speculation from friends with insider information? Did any of them sell or trade any of these cards in the past year while the proposal was on the table, etc. I feel like with cards that have a speculative value of over $50-$80 (name a price) for the standard version, there should be a broader conversation about the bans because there is real life monetary consequences. I never thought about it, but this could be a very big problem.
I can relate, I got my box a few days ago and pulled a borderless foil Jeweled Lotus. First time I've managed to get the most sought after card of a set out of a pack.
@joshuay5581 that's a thing that upset me here. Many people are right now pulling Mana Crypt and Jeweled Lotus in their festival in a box secret lair. Now days later JL and MC are banned? That feels very suspicious.
I also pulled a Jeweled Lotus borderless from one of my festival boxes. More to open still, but not sure if I want to open now lol. The timing is ridiculously dastardly!
@@garcruncher7271 when the sets first came out, you had to win the lottery to get one of these cards. With so many people getting them now, I have no doubt they know what's in each pack.
This must be why they put commander masters packs in the festival in a box and the Costco Commander Kits. They probably expect the value of commander masters packs to go down.
Dude, I've been a fan of this channel for a while now. I've played Magic, like yourself, since 93-94. I'm selling off my Decks, I'm liquidating my reserve list cards, I'm liquidating my sealed boxes and I'm out for good. Not coming back, not doing drafts. Will just watch other people piss their money away and I'll get that free entertainment value but WOTC is not getting another penny from me.
@MrMADMADHATTER1 I've been playing for 30 years. I literally have everything worth having including power 9sets (2) and am just done with wizards after this.
I refuse to buy any singles over $30 so luckily I only got stuck w a $12 Nadu. When singles reach over $50 for a card board game piece, something is seriously wrong… either print more, don't make such a desirable card, or don’t print any of those cards at all. Any game that becomes a pay to win game ruins the fun for everyone that wasn’t born with a silver spoon up their @$$.
Ah, nope. The Commander Rules Committee (RC) is not (officially at least) run by WotC but by the folks sitting on the RC: A group of 5 people deciding what cards are official in Commander. Plus some 10-15 "advisory group" members. Wizards just puts out the article. I also think they are not too happy to have that much "reprint equity" removed in one go.
"reprint equity" is exactly the problem. If sol ring were the price of crypt it would have been banned too but its been put in every commander product and everyone who needs sol ring has many copies of it and the people who dont have easy, cheap access to it. Wizards literally weaponize their reprint policy against players and THAT is the real crime here. Crypt should have never been worth hundreds of dollars. They should have never reprinted rhystic study at a much higher rarity purely to keep it at or above 30$ per copy. Wizards carefully chooses what to reprint and just how many copies they can print to keep the card way more expensive than it should be so they can sell 400 dollar booster boxes of masters sets. Its a disgusting scam.
I pulled Dockside today out of Double Masters 2022 Draft box and I was so happy... OMG $%&/# my luck! I never pull anything valuable, and I was so happy today... is this even real...
You can't get rid of Sol Ring without years of lead time... think about it. WotC is printing new Commander Pre Con Decks every couple of months, and what's front and center in each one? Sol Ring.

I have a mana crypt and I only play casual commanders. It's usually not fun when I have to use mana crypt in my already higher-power casual decks. I have no problem seeing them banned in casual EDH. cEDH on the other hand, I feel like it needs this card. There should be a divergent of rules in EDH and cEDH.
This is why I am glad the one mana crypt I have I pulled from a 30 dollar pack. Even if the price drops I still got a profit off it. So I'm not too mad about it. But it still sucks though cuz I was so excited when I pulled it.
Thanks mox man for not being a wizards puppet and actually saying how it is instead of glossing over the fact they total lost the trust of thousands of mtg players
Nadu is the only card that needed banned due to the inherent design flaws. The other cards have always just been “rule zero” out of casual games. cEDH is where the stronger, more premier cards are supposed to be played (tournament setting for prizes). Also, where these cards are most played is proxy friendly (cEDH). Now we as players used to have the option to speed up and slow down our decks as needed. Now we don’t have as many options. Certain decks might not exist after today. If they were really so worried about the “format” they could’ve just banned “Nadu, Winged Wisdom” and banned/limited “The One Ring” in modern.
Pretty crazy stuff to see. My playgroups have already declared after this announcement that there will be no ban list for any games and it will be up to each playgroup to determine what they want to play.
I just managed to pull a dockside extortionest the list reprint. Was so excited to put it in a rakdos deck with asmoranomardicadastiaculdakar as my commander. Seriously heartbreaking
Eh, wizards printed 3 out of 4 specifically for commander. Mana crypt probably would not have caught a ban if dockside and lotus didn't exist. People have been telling wotc to stop with the commander nukes for a while now.
WOTC “allows” the rules committee to exist. This issue came up a few years ago. I don’t remember the card, but it was one that needed to be banned before the card was even released. It was not banned until after the sales. WOTC could easily get rid of the rules committee with a legitimate version. If WOTC believed the cards should be banned, having the committee do it allows WOTC to make the money from selling it and not having to be the bad guy banning cards they just printed.
Maybe im thinking about it the wrong way here but i think it helps the game a ton. Since pretty much every deck has a sol ring i think banning that would be much more consequential, especially considering players that dont buy expensive cards. I think it helps balance the game out a bunch and only punishes a select few players who paid for the card at the high price or were holding boxes like you mentioned. Idk about the investment side since i prefer something like the s&p500 for my investments and not magic cards, but from a game perspective i think its a win.
I’m so mad on these stupid ppl - that small club of people including Josh Lee Kwai in the commander committee …who just decide to handle the ban hammer. Let people decide their own rules on what to play. Differentiate between cedh and edh…hell, not even that…
Can someone investigate sales prior to banning. See if they can see a spike and maybe tie that to rules committee, friends and family and if wrong doing is found, get them fired off the committee and reverse this ruling. Crazy they would ban all these at the same time as well, never would have happened if Sheldon was still around.
I'm not a lawyer, but I can see them being sued for fraud. I don't think insider trading would apply since it's not some kind of regulated product like a stock. In any case, they are definitely going to get boiled in a pot and many many players are going to realize the rules committee is only 5 people. One of which is a media socialite cosplayer that has probably used her position on that committee to avoid doing any real work.
What exactly do you think they did? Sell off some of their cards to make money, then tank the values to screw over other players?! 🤣 This theory would make sense IFF they had banned the cards, bought up all the cheap copies, then walked back their decision to ban. That's it.
@@Xoulrath_ considering the banned cards dropped like 50% within hours, I can see the random sales suddenly increasing and a "walk back" in the near future due to the complete f*ckfest they knew this would cause
They put an LCI collector booster and Commander masters booster in the Vegas Convention in a box. Then as soon as it sold out they banned the two biggest pulls from those packs....Shady as Hell!
Felt the same way when I bought 4 copies of Sugrical Extraction for $60+/ea and then a few months later it got reprinted all of a sudden and the price dropped to $15/ea. Not really much ANYONE can do. It's just a part of Magic at this point.
To everyone bashing wizards. I'm no friend of wizards but c'mon it's the RC that made the decision to ban. Let's save our outrage for the people that actually deserve it.
How does wotc not know what bans they’re going to do? While dumping their inventory of collector boosters of commander masters and lci into the festival in a box? Just scumbag move by wotc.
Yes, the RC made the choices with the bans. They should have rolled out a warning post mentioning that the following cards are being heavily considered to be banned or something like that. Wizards have had a very faulty way of designing commander specific cards that turn out to be problematic. The history speaks for itself. Both parties are to blame, both for different reasons. Personally though, I am glad to see some gameplay shakeup in the format.
@DangerKennyB you should dude, it's tons of fun. I've been selling out of my MtG for about a year and a half and putting it into Flesh and Blood and I have absolutely no regrets. Best competitive circuit period as well if you're into that kind of thing and the cards are gorgeous!
This sums up the narcissism of corporations, WOTC will influence their prices on their products based on the value of the secondary market e.g. Commander Masters, but will never lose out when those expensive cards are banned / unusable. Players & collectors will always lose out to some extent.

the thing is... WoTC will not suffer anything because legally they are a separated entity from the RC. As for the RC, they can just declare that they didn't do anything wrong as they banned the cards from use in official games, you still can have them for collections. There are no legal basis for this... Unless, of course, it's revealed they're using insider knowledge to sell their cards before banning it or buying before unbanning

@@bucket_o_noodles8914 to be completely honest... Idk enough about law to give you an answer about this.
Who will ever buy Commmander exclusive sets again? Jeweled Lotus was THE chase card from a Premium product?
All of them were chase cards in their respective sets - that's the point (I assume).
The RC want to show Wizards that throwing in one chase Rare/Mythic and then doubling the price of a box is not a healthy way forward.
That, or the cynical thing MAN said ...
Yea I agree. They just tanked my investment. I don't even want to buy any new cards. Ink is cheaper

Hahaha no reason to have a billion copies of the card. Sucks for the stores though. But the people with every deck having those cards idc honestly. Only thing that sucks is jeweled lotus bc it was the chase card in COMMANDER MASTERS. 😅
If we never see a Commander set again, it'll be too soon.
This is Chronicles level doomsday event for MTG. This move is going to push players to proxies and never buy another sealed product for commander.
… Chronicles led to the reserve list, this will lead to something big … maybe the launch of a whole new format or the takeoff of CEDH
This is me and my feelings are not hurt one bit by it.

Super sad, I used to respect some of them but it's clear where they stand as far as with/against players
Standard procedure when questioning them on anything.
WotC should have never cooperated with the RC. They should have just made their own format, identical to EDH, where they would have the say over which cards should be banned. Allowing a specific play group to decide that, just because they invented the damn format is the most stupid decision ever.

This act by the RC is one of straight theft. Since WotC designs and prints and sells cards strictly for EDH and does not govern the format.
This is going to have ripple effects on MTG products as a whole. Who wants to spend big $ on cards which might be worthless the very next day. Not me.

LOL yeah all the insiders were scooping them up with all the extra cash they had laying around from selling their docksides, lotuses and mana crypts.

Eh, wizards printed 3 out of 4 specifically for commander. Mana crypt probably would not have caught a ban if dockside and lotus didn't exist. People have been telling wotc to stop with the commander nukes for a while now.
All of these cards were banned after WOTC got their long print runs out of them in the format. This very well could be a WOTC issue.
Wizards are also responsible. They were withholding on the reprints, hoping to use the value of these cards to sell future product.
@@NOLA-vv3sz are you thinking of lutri? The otter card

This theory would make sense IFF they had banned the cards, bought up all the cheap copies, then walked back their decision to ban.
The idea that they didn't know is a bit naive. The leveraged Mana Crypt hard to sell Ixalan. They squeezed the juice out before this ban.
I think Nadu is entirely on Wizards tbh.
@@TheDestroya88 Nobody cares about Nadu.
What a blast from the past, I remember that game on your shirt I used to play it all the time
Sucks for players who invested in “real” cardboard.
ARE U KIDDING ME.....COME ON WOTC PULL IT TOGETHER!!
Come join us in Flesh in Blood TCG ❤
For the first time, I'm tempted
@@DangerKennyBNew set came out last Friday.... Join us ;)
Flesh and Blood is great! I suggest everyone should try it out.
I have two docksides, two mana crypts, and two jeweled lotus........ Im not to happy right now.
I just pulled a full art amd reg foil dockside from a 2022 DM collectors box 😢 I got hosed.
My playgroup will continue playing these cards. I dont care. It sucks to lose that money tho
@@buckshot9135 I lost trust in RC, Wotc for allowing this and for how it was deployed. They are going to put chase cards in sets. To only ban them soon after is criminal.
@@ExploreMore704 No matter what this is not good for you (Im keeping it PG). On the bright side. You got the rush from that dockside pull.
@@buckshot9135 I go to my LGS to play. No way would they be cool with the cards. It was already tough enough to have them in my deck. Guess that rule 0 they made up didnt mean all that much after all.
I litteraly saved up all summer to buy a mana crypt that I bought 2 days ago online, didn’t received it yet it’s worth not even third of what I spent
there should be a lawsuit in this somewhere. willfully destroying millions of dollars in value shortly after selling fancy artwork re-prints? That's extremely misleading
the thing is...
Isn't this something a long the lines how how the reserve list happened? Reprints happened a lot then collectors raised up and wotc was like "ight all these won't be reprinted", I get the RC is not directly connected to WotC but feels kinda like the same thing only now these cards strictly don't have a home like a bunch of other cards.
@@bucket_o_noodles8914 to be completely honest... Idk enough about law to give you an answer about this. Who knows, maybe wotc will stop only reprint high value cards as chase cards in bad sets or they will just make every good staple a must in precons going forward. I'm saying this because i dont agree with the idea that expensive cards should remain expensive bc players bought them, specially when they're staples. But that's just my opinion
@@Izumocchi I guess you're right. It just feels extremely unfair. I hope at least some lawyers will look into what's possible . Only banned in official games or not, they knew what they were doing. stores and individuals alike have lost 1000's of dollars in value. I can't imagine they are just going to role over and take it.
I'm sorry, I cant respect collectors who are only in it for the money. The whole "Ohh no my major investment!" - get recked. If you enjoy the card, turn zero convo with your friends. The card in and of itself is still good with the turn zero rule. Whatever.
CEDH needs better rule committee
I've always said. The reserved list we trust. But got hosed for 4x ext foil lotuses, 2 ext foil docksides, 4 crypts (1 masterpiece, 1 judge foil, 2 ema foils). Granted didnt pay current prices..... but not happy on the going rates. But im riding out the storm
The cards i worry most about are my 2 ftv:r mox diamonds, 2 judge grim monoliths, mishra's workshop, tabernacle, and a unlimited twister....
That was the reason why I stopped playing standard 20 years ago. This is so stupid. We can only have one card per deck in commander. The whole format is already balanced. The ban is just a stupid attempt to control the format. Every single person I spoke hates it. People that hates standard found only in commander a format to still play cards without loosing money. Now we need to rethink if it os worth giving them our money
100% NOTHING should be banned in commander. If you manage to assemble a 99 card deck that reliably abuses the same one card… Congratulations that’s nearly impossible!
bro you are 10000% spot on. on literally everything
It's time for ALL MEMBERS OF THE RC TO STEP DOWN. You have proved you are no longer capable of making descions for the greater good of the player base. THE RC HAS COST SO MANY PEOPLE SO MUCH MONEY. On top of that there will now be a rift amongst the players. Something we didn't have before. Thank you for screwing every one over RC. You did a great job. What a joke.
They've been a joke honestly since the Primaeval Titan ban, tbh.
Idk why anyone cares what that playgroup likes anyways lol
If they had gone full all fast mana I might have forgiven them a horrible necessary evil but they didnt
ROFLMAO, they always have been.
They would’ve had more respect if they just ripped the band aid off and banned all wizards exploitation of making edh only products. Otherwise don’t fooking touch anything.
My goblin deck mana value went from 2.48 and is now 2.53 just because they took out Jeweled Lotus and Dockside Extortionist
I lose about $500 CAD. Unfair Wizards. Just unfair. Turns me off from wanting to buy some of the more expensive staples.
Just bought a masterpiece crypt...
I have 8 crypts, 3 masterpieces. I'm going to keep playing them.
WotC didn't make the ban, the independent Comander Rules Committee made the ban. The only bans WotC directly controls is Modern and Pioneer
I have four of the original Mana Crypts, but I have had them since they were printed so only lost the theoretical value if I had ever decided to sell them.
Absolutely LIVID. Not only did I lose money on the cards I bought that are banned. These bannings also hurt other cards I own that synergized with these. I'll lose thousand dollars before the end of this all. It also communicates that my investment into this game is not safe and any sorcery speed player can cause financial harm. From here on out, I'm done buying cards. I will be PROXING. EVERY. SINGLE. CARD. WotC will not being getting any money from me here or on secondary market.
investing into a game? you played yourself.
@@thegreatestblood Everyone invests in the game. You may not like the word. But anything that you spend money to increase it's value, be it experience or financial value is by definition an investment.
@@ronburgundy5730 Wrong. Definition of invest is as follows:
expend money with the expectation of achieving a profit or material result by putting it into financial plans, shares, or property, or by using it to develop a commercial venture.
not everyone expends money in MTG to expect a profit or financial result. this banning does absolutely nothing for those who did not invest into the game or expected to turn a profit; tbh it's a good banning as it makes casual tables lean more casual as there are many "casual" players who use mana crypts and the rest of the banned cards.
Sorry for your loss.
@@thegreatestblood Incorrect. You are leaving out the rest. A study of the word (etymology) comes from Latin root to convert capital to a new form. There is a reason you "invest" in your future with a college education. You are converting capital to knowledge in the hopes of a better QoL. Part of investing is not just for monetary profit, but also to see the new form of capital appreciate or gain advantage. Sorry you don't understand the depth of the word. But if you buy any amount of cardboard, you are by practice... investing in the future of this game and hoping to gain an advantage or gain in quality of games. Same as someone who invests in lenses for their DSLR cameras.
@@ronburgundy5730 Sorry, i didn't go so far as to study etymology or to delve into the Latin roots of the word. I just googled it cause it's not very important at the end of the day. perhaps i don't understand the depth of the word, but i'm not the one down thousands of dollars lmao. i do love the cope though.
Out of curiosity, if I buy a cup, would you say I am investing money? Since I am hoping to gain in quality of ease of drinking fluids? Is buying water also investing, since I am hoping to gain in quality of life? Can't you spin anything you buy as an "investment"?
I'm still going to play my Mana Crypt Borderless foil from Ixalan that I pulled in the Festival in a Box. I'll allow anyone with one to play it, too. I've never once had an opponent drop a Mana Crypt and been like "Oh dang, I have 0 removal in my deck and clearly my other opponents don't have any, we should all scoop".
I'm not dumb enough to drop hundreds on a single card. Christ.
